This needs to be reversed. A lot of people were not told that they have to repay it.

2008 Homebuyers have been bamboozled! To be honest I've been double screwed because I was told that the property taxes for my house were thousands lower than what they really are. So, not only do I pay more per month in property taxes than the actual mortgage (which makes the monthly payment unaffordable for me), I now have to find an extra $500 for the next 15 years. I need a hug!

There is a major problem this year with the repayment demands by the IRS for those of us who got the 1st time home buyer payment in the first round. Even though the 1st and 2nd round overlapped in their processing, the 2nd and 3rd round people do NOT have to repay the 8000.00 that they were given. THAT is SO unfair to those of us who got in on the first round. Why couldn't we be really credited in the second since they overlapped?>? Why do only CERTAIN Americans have to pay back and that option not be changed? Why is it that the IRS couldn't get the forms out on time for us to file our returns when we need that money NOW more that EVER.....BUT they made sure that I and everyone else got the notice from them stating that we are on record and if payment is NOT included with our return we will be audited, REALLLLLLY>>>>??? Wow, they can do ONE thing for them but not for us?? Can you help? ARE WE STUCK with this unfairness? Who will be reading my complaint and request for help, but I am hoping that you who are, can please help get this message and information to the appropriate people that we can repeal MORE than just the insurance fiasco that was implemented on us! I know that he has been instrumental in working with the American people on getting the Tea Party listened to, our rights and concerns listened to, so can he help us with this or tell us WHO we can contact besides our congressman, cause I've written ALL of them and no one will respond. Well , other than that carbon copied letter that is a form and is filled out without even your own name!!!

I bought my house in Nov 2008. I heard about the tax credit but didn't apply for it because who wants to repay that back. That just makes people think they have money, but really they don't because it has to be repaid back. Totally not fair at all!

I think that the word "credit" was very misleading and just dishonest. It was more of a loan and as a first time homebuyer I felt that I was completely misled. Had I really understood that the so called credit would mean that I would be in debt to the IRS for 15 years I would have never taken the credit. I also would have waited had I known that in 2009 there was a true $8000 credit that would not need to be repaid. This is just unjust and I feel taken advantage of and misled.

I think this is very unfair since the people buying homes in 2009 don't have to repay. I thought this was to help stimulate the housing market. Wish I had waited until 2009.

It is not fair that we should have to pay back this money because we bought in 2008, and the ones in 2009 don't, if the government is trying to stimulate the economy, this is not a good way of doing it.

I was forced to relocate due to job loss and was unable to sell the home purchased in 2008. I lost money on the value of the home from all the remodeling that was done. I am now forced to rent out that home instead of foreclosing or going bankrupt. And I'll be punished for it by paying this back anyways. Not only is it unfair that only we have to pay it back, but it should be illegal! Where's the lawsuit? Where's the appeal to the courts? There's no way this can be legal.

I bought my house on December 31, 2008. This new tax credit in 2009 that does not have to be re-payed certainly doesn't seem very fair, especially after backdating it to January 1, 2009. (I dont qualify by less than 12hrs!) Please Fix This!

I bought my home in Nov 2008 and am now going to be responsible for paying this "credit" back. If I had known it was going to change I would have waited.

I bought on December 28, 2008. Had I known they would have a tax credit in 2009 that I would not have to re-pay i would have certainly waited a couple days to close. Thanks for the heads up on that one!

Please fix this. Don't give hard working honest (obviously we file returns and pay taxes and are looking to do the right thing) people another reason to mistrust what comes out of Washington. Keep in mind, in 2008 it was only 1st time homebuyers making less than $75K who qualified for the credit. A few months later, not only do you expand eligibility (I'm sure even as a loan, non FTHBs in 2008 could have used the credit) and increase the amount, you also make it a true credit. To me, that's Christmas AND Disney World:)
