Respected Sir /Madam My name is Venkata Kalidindi, and I am writing this letter to ask that you urge the U.S. Department of State to abide by the originally published Visa Bulletin on September 9, 2015, rather than the revised bulletin issued on September 25, 2015. I am a Software professional and have been living and working in the United States pursuant to a temporary work visa since January 2007. I began my journey towards lawful permanent residence in 2011 of priority date 01/13/2011. I became hopeful that I might finally achieve my goal of permanent residence in this country after President Obama announced his plans for Executive Action on immigration late last year. In July, the White House Report on Modernizing & Streamlining Our Legal Immigration System for the 21st Century raised my hopes even further with several recommendations aimed at benefiting employment-based immigration applicants stuck in endless backlogs. Finally, on September 9, 2015, the October Visa Bulletin was issued and felt like a dream come true for me. The Visa Bulletin indicated that I could finally file the application to adjust status for myself and my family. I could finally obtain an employment authorization card and travel document. I immediately began to gather the documents and work with my attorney to prepare for filing on October 1st. Then, 16 days later, the rug has been pulled out from under me. Just like that, a new Visa Bulletin takes my hopes away. I want to contribute to this country. I have done my best to comply with all the immigration rules of this country. I have been through 4 H1B visa renewals over 8 years. Every time I want to travel to my home country, I have gone through a visa interview at a U.S. Consulate. When I heard that I could finally file my adjustment of status, I have cancelled my travel plans and even brought back my family from my home country by changing their flight tickets, paid for medical exams for me and my family and attorneys. I never thought I would see the U.S. government act in such a callous, unfeeling way just 5 days before I was set to begin a new life in this country. I urge you to join with thousands of other concerned individuals who are legally in this country and have waited patiently for so long to become lawful permanent residents. Please urge the Department of State to honor its original October Visa Bulletin. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Sincerely, Venkata KalidindiREPORT COMMENTS
