This is the end of materialism. These creatures get into, and vector from anything fabric or foam. After 2.5 years of this, the only clothes we can wear are tight weaves, like microfiber. Some organic linen and hemp clothing seem to be unfavorable to bugs as well, but cotton is a gonner (blends are better) and it may be due to GMO cottons being susceptible to fungus which is what these bugs thrive on. I read one report that stated that these bugs inject you with a fungal infection so their young can harvest it off your skin, thus the tickly sensations. (Did anyone else get a fever directly preceding this infestation?) Ivermectin solved the worst of the open sores but keeping these critters from reaching adult "biter" size is key. While these bugs can be killed, eggs can't. We douche ourselves and our few outfits daily, with borax (anti fungal) and hydrogen peroxide (earthclinic.com; thanks Ted!) Flush ears with it but nose, use saline solution as H202 damaged sensitive nasal tissue. The washing machine and dryer got infested fast so we no longer use them. The beds and couches were thrown away and replaced with inflatables, we call them our life rafts, and use only microfiber sheets and quilts.... but our car seats are not possible to replace so we're about to try an ozone machine since cedar fog can't penetrate top surface. Cedar fog ($300 machine, $100 per gallon,) works to a degree, in house and cars, but we, the afflicted, all know how prolific these creatures reproduction cycle is, so the problem persists. Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) blown into wall cavities, under cabinets, all base boards and windows caulked, fix leaks immediately....rub DE in between floor boards and leave it there. Do so often with open surfaces but wear a respirator because while it is not poisonous to ingest (some people drink it,) it is bad to breathe and is very fine so gets airborne during application, no matter what. About to try saturating paper products with DE, only limited success sealing with mothballs. These drastic measures allow us to sleep at night which was not possible the first year. This is a very costly problem and as I said, threatens material comforts, and really, capitalism to it's core. Who wants to buy things, only to have to throw them away after rapid infestation? Our social life has come to a grinding halt since vectoring seems to be a given. This is a costly and lonely problem. Scientific study is needed now. While there are definite psychological ramifications, this is a mechanical problem. Whomever figures this out is going to get very rich. C'mon capitalists. Don't get eaten alive...get to work!REPORT COMMENTS

I have this as well and my heart goes out to all who suffer. We are not suffering alone obviously. If it is not acknowledged & investigated, we will be suffering in silence because none of us want to be belittled for seeking help. I get it in winter, but I am not sure why. I want to suggest bio-terrorism because the fibers could be sent in clothing from out of the country. Some of my clothing seems to be infested with the fibers. These fibers affect sores a lot. I want to agree with the person who suggests that it could be related to the scabies mite. My experience this winter has lead me to that very same conclusion. No matter what it is, it needs to be acknowledged. Perhaps one of the same people who have investigated it & passed it off as delusional, will contract this & decide it is real. I suggest very hot showers lasting 10 minutes. I've tried all the remedies & recently tried something called PRID, a homeopathic remedy & whatever this is does not seem to like it. I wish you all well & pray that we find answers.REPORT COMMENTS

I like in Austin TX and there has been an epidemic of pinworm in the population. All OTC meds for this parasite were sold out a few months ago at all local pharmacies. I drove all over town visiting 6 different pharmacies before I found one has stock of the Reese's treatment. Doctor prescribed Rx barely addresses these issues, and my household still had to take the Reese's OTC treatment multiple times. My household now buys bottled water only and it has cut down on instances. However, this hasn't stopped the epidemic here.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been dealing with this same bioluminescent parasite or bug. I have been able to use my S3 tablet jn low light to actually capture thousands of photo's of the parasites. It is hard to find as it is see thru and takes on any color near it. In the dark you will absolutely be able to photograph or video the darn thing's to share with an entomologist. I am taking my new recordings to my state id office. Try your local co-op. I believe here is where answers and a cure will be found. Best wishes to all.REPORT COMMENTS

I have had this for 3 years now. I have seen many Doctors they all say the same thing it's bacterial rash or the lesions come from pressure or the fibers are coming from my clothing and just get stuck to the lesions. The lesions come from scratching the fibers out of my skin. I have pulled out very strange fibers that are grouped together or tangled they also have a very sharp tip. They come out just by rubbing my stomach or back the sting/bite is horrible.I recently saw a dermatologist she said there is nothing concerning about what she saw even though my skin is scarred all over. I saw a nurse practitioner yesterday she said I have Hyper Sensitivity. I stopped eating bread and all items that contain yeast that helped a little and I eat bowls full of Baby Spinich drenched in lemon which seems to also calm down the symptoms. Recently I heard about Cellulose in Cheese and found that almost all Pre=Grated cheese contains cellulose. I have read that some fibers that were examined contained Cellulose. I read about cellulose and read it is indigestible however it is being put in our food and many other products we use on a daily basis. The fibers that come out of me are clear and shiny they also have static electricity and cling together if you have one in your hand hold it up next to another and you will see they will cling together. They also cling to my cellphone and are all over my home, carpets clothing, you name it I also see lots of them wrapped around electrical cords on my floor. My puppy is also infected he vomits very strange things. There also seem to be strange plant like formations wrapped in puffy thread like balls in dark corners of my home or stuck on clothing items. Items made with acrylic fibers such as pantyhose attract many of them and when I wear cotton clothing my skin crawls. This is the most awful feeling in the world. I am so afraid to give this horrible thing to anyone else. I have suffered so much and I feel for all the people out there that cry for help and no one listens. There is nothing normal about what is happening to all of us this is real. The fibers are real the biting is real and the scary things we find in our homes are not our imagination. There are many of us how can anyone say we are all delusional. How can people think or believe we would make this up. It is a nightmare we can't wake up from.REPORT COMMENTS

I have spoken to people all over the world who are having this general problem. It may well be that common bugs like dust mites that are related to the scabies mite, can rapidly adapt to new hosts via epigenetics. Little is understood about these issues. Some species of Collembola have had mandibles, lost them and had them reappear over time. We don't know if under special circumstance that can occur more rapidly, or if their very small size can make them a substantial annoyance. No one has bothered to spend the money to fully investigate what is going on, but many people have found that spraying an area with 91% alcohol temporarily gets rid of the problem. That seems proof alone that there is an external cause, be it a mite , or another organism. It may be that many different organisms can cause similar symptoms.REPORT COMMENTS

The previous study commissioned by the CDC in California lacked any significant scientific credibility in it's convulsions. So many questions remain unanswered. How could so many people have the same unexplained fibers? If the fibers can't be analyzed then how have the thousands of suffers all acquired them? Is this a massive hoax? Much of what the CDC reports is double talk and contradictory. Please allocate funding to properly investigate this horrible illness. Thank youREPORT COMMENTS

We have suffered a year now with rodent mites. Entomologists are of no help, nor are doctors. They don't know the species of mite, but just that it is a rodent mite. It started with rats in our attic. Our neighbor also had to move out. We lost our home to it and all our belongings as did the next door neighbor. If you do intend of traveling and leaving your home, be aware that it is extremely contagious and anything fabric has to be discarded. The same thing goes with any mite like this, including bird mites. I am a medical professional experiencing this, so it is a very real thing, but a mystery as to what species of parasitic mite this is. It has bitten and continues to bite my family of four. Here is a picture of what the bites sometimes look like: http://imgur.com/sufD3Gt The CDC better get on this as it spreads like wildfire and we cannot see our families as they spread into anything fabric very easily. The bites are extremely itchy and at times painful.REPORT COMMENTS

There something new since exterminators canot detect it. Black, white, and sometimes red hard powder, micro, or dot size living insect or orgasms crawl , bites you, feet, ankles legs hairy dots, and stay in scalp. Can roll them off on lint rollers, get on self applied sticky , and trap on body if oiled well. Not bedbugs, live, or a mite non bird, and may be new bacterial from house mice., or other. No place to get help, get tested, or send samples. Ecologist lack equipment to diagnose say dirt, dust, or nothing. When you can roll it off where bitten... Need to make up DNA type, kind, matter if dirt, or dust. If a new living organism, or insect have s better way for testing. Not imaginations, thousands of people going to websites for help, and all described the same thing seen, reaction, and trying to get rid of. Will not stop, people are letting things go, living hermit style, and going to hospital for stress. Some become suicidal. No relief its daily crawling in shoes, clothing, on and off. Worst is in hair moving as it is biting scalp, in ears, and nose moving You can get them on sticky, or tissue surfaces while removal. Always the same small round, hard dot. On you, a surface, in clothing, or item's. Even go under finger nails, toe nails, and deep inside ears feel pinch bites. Horrible. Do something to find new organisms, or insects.REPORT COMMENTS

Please help us! I have been afflicted with this parasite infestation for 1.5 years. My symptoms are terribly worse at work! I work in a hospital of all places that shouldn't have things like this putting patients and staff at risk! The sensation is crawling, dusty like particles brushing against my face, ears nose and eyes. Biting sensations best described at fiber glass all over my body, especially when wearing cotton clothing and socks. Occasionally will see a tiny particle fly off when I brush it away. Small "things" going into my mouth and nose. Black specks and teeny tiny white floating particles. Ill experience the sensation of my hair moving. This is very REAL and scary! Please help! Several people at work report the same symptoms , patients and their family members. It will also feel as though there is a tiny "swarm" around my head and ill catch a glimpse of a clearish grey/black airborne obje t but to fast to catch! Could this be an epidemic of micro myasis? !REPORT COMMENTS

Ok maybe a special zapper that does not have to touch skin (cause the device itself can get mites in it) a sonic sound zapper? Rotenone (the Parkinsons thing a bit overblown) and a bit more than a measly 1 percent. Smart enzymes, Chitinase, Whole body cryotherapy etc. Alternative treatments need in depth exploring and developing....and made afforfable and accessible. Pharmacuetical creams often not penetrating deep enough. Standard permithrin and ivermectin are not effective in many cases. There needs to be a special unit of researchers ON IT. This is no joke and we most certainly are headed for sn epidemic. A stitch in time saves nine. Now some of the health professionals themselves are starting to get some sort of mite or morgellons or collembolla. or. micrscopic skin parasitizing bug. Dermatology schools and treatment centers need a mass issue letter stating they are not to too quickly label people as delusional parasitosis as a standard defaut position because some type of microscopic hard to detect because of body roaming (not stationary like typical scabies) animal mites are starting to cross lines and are mutating all the time and ruining human lives. Basically empirical medical knowledge hasn't accounted for or acknowledged these new developments. 25 years ago nobody heard of Lyme disease either. At anyrate, there is a whole range of flesh eating mites and a panorama of different types of Mrgellon like. cases cropping up at a alarming rate. CDC PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS SLIDE...PLEASE START BELIEVING THESE POOR SUFFERERS AND START TAKING SOME REAL STEPS! Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

Its a real thing. Definitely a problem that needs to be addressed and because the creature is so small it it difficult to get treatment. It has to be identified. It is pernicious.Perhaps reinstating DDT for controlled indoor use is an easy and reasonably healthy solutuion. These things are very contagious and can survive cold weather. They aren't affected much by pyrethroid spraying -I had my place treated- they were scampering up my arm and biting the same day! never seen one-not even sure if they are mites or some microscopic fly such as a sandfly. Not known what but for sure they are there. Also they travel in linear lines and exrete a copious amount of goo that hardens when they are disturbed.one small particle from them leaves a ten times size stain. and a bunch leave an orange colored vaseline goop that dries.Really wierd bu they are there, contagious, get on clothes on floor on wall in skin, are resistant to cold-maybe that protective excretion- and as I said, commercial spraying with pyrethroids was not effective at all. The attacks are quite dramatic for a creature that is too small to see. This is a big problem potentiallyREPORT COMMENTS
