Many deaths and suicides are the direct result of unfair child support tactics. I myself would rather murder my ex and kill myself vs living in/out of jail for 18 years. No thanks.

The laws are more enforced for men that for women. My ex has taken my two girls to a diffident state. the laws about it were not up held but the support laws are. Sad the laws are one sided and when you point it out the good-old boys get up set. Not old only do we need to rewrite the laws but make punishments for the authoritys and agencies.

Total rip off even if you are paying. Can have a bank account without them taking money out of your account, ruin your credit and reputation even if you are paying. Stealing money on the backs of kids shameful !!

The laws need to be reviewed.parents should share custody not one over the other. My son a military vet paid his support every month, once his xwife remarried she decided she wanted more child support she took him to court ,he was overseas so by the time it went to court he had to pay retro and they raised his payment ,he had to pay her atty and he had to pay her thousands on the money he made for going overseas..plus he has to pay airfare which now he won't be able to do in order to see his kids...where is the justice is this .. They both make the same amount of money if the tables were turned she would not be able to pay this to him. It is half his pay and now he cannot live... Tell me where is the justice

I worked tow years before my sons mom took me to court for child support. She told the court that she has no income. So, my child support was just based on my income. Ok thats cool I'm taking care of my child I have no beef with that my complaint is I have a newborn in my household. When it's time for a increase why should a mother who says she has no income everytime we go to court be allowed and increase when I have children in my home to take care of?? Child support is injustice and the courts dont care what other kids you have that do not recieve child support through the courts. What do I do let my wife take me to court for child support and that way the mother who has no income cant stick me for a huge increase, only so I can take care of my household. I'm just saying lol.

ohio has the worst child support laws, OVERTIME should NOT be included, and it should not be based on GROSS income, it should be based on NET, and all the insurance i pay, not just what it costs minus what it costs for me. I went out worked hard and earned a good job, now i feel like im being punished for it while she sits on her butt collecting a welfare check, "her" child support money because life is hard. child support should be wiped and and both parents take care of their kids 50/50. To many times a woman leaves the man and he has to pay her alimony and child support, bull!!!

I have a 11 year old and 14 year old with the same Father. When we divorced 11 years ago i agreed to accept $250 per month for the girls. I made it work I never asked for a change in support or custody. Both girls lived with me and their father was supposed to provide medical coverage and pay 1/2 of the out of pocket expenses and help with the kids extras. He never did more then the $250 he was ordered and was inconsistent with his parenting time with the girls. There were some years I am guessing he maybe had them a total of 14 days in a 365 day time period. In March my 14 year old allof a sudden decided to o live with her dad. It was initially for a couple of days for her to "cool off" she was mad at me. She has decided to stay and now he is asking for a modification in the support. I totally agree and have no problem with eliminating the order for him to pay. I still have our 11 year old child living with me. The state of Oregon just sent me a notice saying I have to pay him $271 per month. I work 40+ hours per week and still support one of our children. But because he claims to only work part time and is too lazy to get a full time or 2nd job I have to pay him. It is all about him and his new wife working the system. She is on disability and has 2 kids they also get Oregon health care and housing assistance and food stamps. I am just not OK with supporting lazy. And that is totally what this is. Thy plug numbers into a calculator and that is all there is too it. I have a hearing next week and possibly a judge can change the order but I am not feeling very confident.

I currently pay $1100.00 for one 15 yo. Most of this money goes to pay for her mom and her husband failing business. After 12 years of divorce, I was brought back to court to up my support only because it was apparent that my business is growing and profiable. I am now back where I started financially. The system is flawed here in NH

MY fiance has been paying child support since we met. His child support is based on a yr income that is way above what he makes. We have been back in forth thru the courts, and still haev not been taken care of. He is still paying child support for a child that is 21 - no longer in school and has a family of his own. but DCSE havce decided that he owes back child support on him. He stopped paying child support on him when he graduated from school. DCSE didnt get involved till about a 1 1/2 ago, before that the 2 of them had an agreement with out the courts. But since the courts have screwed him we dont know what to do. Still paying for 3 kids(he adopted the 2 oldest from his ex wifes first marriage) - 2 of which have graduated from school already. He was 2 pay $200 per child = $600. He started paying $400 when the oldest graduated. Now the courts have him paying $750.00 a month and he made less than $20K. On top of that because he didnt have a record of paying her child support - even though gave her Money orders - they thru back child support on him. The laws need to change... For once there is a man who wants to be there pay for his son, do the right thing but keeps getting screwed.

Since 2006 I've been paying $500 a month in child support. It wasn't easy but the money wasn't a great hardship for the first few years since I was active duty military and soon after a police officer. It wasn't until last year that I started attending school full time and it is now starting to take it's toll since my only income now are my veteran checks for going to school. The issue I am concerned with is not with what I'm currently paying but with what I could be potentially paying when I get my degree and begin working again. Unfortunately, with what I have researched, education is a factor when calculating the child support. The job market is pretty hectic out there and I'm not expecting to start off with the same salary as before I started going to school. My fear is they're going to do an assessment and even though I'll have a lower paying job they're going to raise my child support based on my degree and the potential income I could be making. Not to mention if and when I start moving up and making more money. They claim they are doing "what's best for the child" but what good is it when they start asking for money that is beyond our means to the point where we can't support ourselves. We're automatically caught between a rock and a hard place. Either we don't pay, or pay what we can to survive, and get labeled a "dead beat" or give them what they want and get forced into bankruptcy or worse. How is that good for anyone? I understand this is hypothetical and I'm only assuming at this point but with all of the "horror" stories I'm reading the potential for this actually happening is great. There are a lot more considerations that need to be made other than what's on a resume. It seems to me that these child support laws are ruining more lives than they're helping. Something needs to change.

My husband has joint custody with his ex-wife for their 4 children, we pay child support every month this last week the state that my husbands ex-wife lives took 98% of his paycheck, how are we supposed to survive on $15.00 with a 13 day old newborn until his next paycheck? While my husbands ex-wife is not only blocking custody of his children but does nothing to help support her children. The laws need to change and everyone should be held accountable not just the father's. Basically my husband's ex-wife can sit at home and do nothing and collect child support and our family gets to starve. What is wrong with this picture?

The child support laws are a crock. I receive child support myself (barely) and work an average of 70 hours a week to support my three children. My current husband works full time fair and square while his ex wife sits at home not trying to get a job, goes on at least two vacations a year, buys whatever they want and my husband is expected to pay damn near half his take home pay to support her and her husband and their other two kids. Its all a bunch of crap.

My daughter is 20 Yrs Old, is not a student, capable of getting a job. Her mother alienated my relationship with my daughter and still the State Of NJ will not emancipate. This is because for every dollar they collect in Child Support, the states get matching funds from the Feds and over for every dollar the states collect. This is criminal!!!!! A form of extortion, racketeering and forced human slavery and servitude. Also it is discrimination against Non-Custodial Parents. Child Support is important to raise children, but a time comes when one must be responsible for ones self. Making one adult slave for another by force is criminal!!!!!

I believe that before anyone should be able to get child support the mother or father should be checked out with a fine tooth comb. I pay child support and would have no issue doing so but what if the mother is getting the money and she is giving it to her boyfriend for drugs etc? How is that fair to the children to go without medical care etc because of that? When someone gets money from Social Security they have to show what the money is spent on so why should it be any different for the parent who's getting the Child Support? Laws need to be changed children need a voice. There are more people using child support for their own wants than using the money on the children. Please lets change this and make this happen for children.

I pay child support yet watch my son 50% of the time and my ex thinks she deserves it all. Say I watch him 33% of the time then I should only have to pay 33% of max child support but my ex is greedy and does not work so she can get the same. I will not get a good job due to how they base it on how much I make. What kid needs 1000 a month which we all know never goes to the kid anyways!! It goes to the ex to buy bs.

I think it is time to revisit child support laws, because i know of parents who do not spend the money where it goes and use it towards themselves and then they are smart enough to get pregnant again because it adds to their other state benefits. It is also unfair if the parents share custody and yet one parent , usually the man, has to still pay child support. If government wants to help increase the number of people in the work force, start going after these women who use this particular area of income and abuse it. Send me some forms for the state of Michigan to get it on the ballot and i will champion this fight myself and get a lot of signatures to get it on the ballot for vote if i have to. Stop being unfair to men and allowing them to be put down as low lifes but protect women who are even worse.
