I am a 100% disabled veteran who has watched his children as many times as possible. I have been brought to court on contempt charges for being no more than a month 1/2 behind, and paid but could not always pay full amount. The judge never suspended my license, put me straight in jail knowing the 1,100.00 dollars a month was to much than my military disability could afford. Caught the judge on recording talking about me and bringing up my ptsd during a time that had nothing to do with it, and sharing my mental health with someone who had no business knowing. I fought for my country, and my country has taken my freedom away. I was injured in war to come home to jail, and no way out. Even when I filed for the judge to recuse himself, he would not. Could my ex father in law being a lawyer, and knowing the judge have anything to do with.

The current system does nothing to ensure the well being of the child. I pay my child support like clockwork because I love my girls! It doesn't bother me to much that I struggle each month to get by sometimes. What bothers me is my children have nothing to show for their future. The money I give each month goes to ensuring their mother has new cloths and $ for herself. Meanwhile our daughters have very little now and no savings for future expenses like college! Tell me how they are better off?

I pay 1070.70 a month for 2 kids. One kid lives with his grandparents in FL and the other lives in Tennessee with my ex wife. The divorce was finalized March 2012, she re-married July of 2012. She is a stay at home mother and her husband works. He makes around 65K a year. The other day she asked if I had been saving money. I told her.. "hmm, let's think about that. My weekly paycheck net is around $655... $296 is taken out for child support...I pay my car payment of 387.34, oh but wait...I have to ration my finances from the week before so that I can make that car payment. She said she and her husband have 5k in savings I said, well of course you do. I pay you 13k a year and you add it on to your husbands money... So I had to break my apartment and move in with my parents. I don't bother trying to date because most of the women freak out if you live with your mommy and daddy...by the way, I am 40. I think the whole child support laws are crap and need to be changed. Her new happiness is at the expense of mine. I pay the child support because I love my kids.

I keep my child half of the time and the judge didn't even take that into account and order me to pay 20 percent before taxes of what I make to the mother. I was told to bring documents and receipts and pay stubs and the judge didn't look at them. This is Illinois by the way. the judge call me providing for the needs of my child has as charity and gifts

I married a women who I found out later was already pregnant. She had the baby while I was overseas. She filed for divorce and child support. I finally got a court to do a paternity test and it wasn't mine. The judge disregarded that and the fact the kid took another mans last name. I spent 10000 fighting and still was ordered to pay child support. The court said I took responsibility when I payed the first time. I was told if I didn't pay I would loose my passport which I use to work. This has got to stop. There is no way to win I've tried and still fighting.

Guam CHild support laws are unjust based on assumptions made by the judge... It's almost enough to say **** it and call it quits...

My spouse's ex in 1999 said she was going to CA to visit her mom for a couple weeks. She never came back, never called, never made one single effort to keep their son in touch with his father. He paid her child support voluntarily while she was here, but did not even know where to send money when she never came back. We tried seeking legal help, but couldn't afford it. We tried skip-tracing to find her, to no avail. 12 YEARS later, we received notification from the state of California that he was to start paying child support since the ex and child were on state aid. Twelve years had passed, we still do not know where his son is, but are paying $460/month to the state of CA. Not only that, but they obtained the order in March 2012, and BACKDATED it to November 2011, so right off the bat, he looked like a "deadbeat dad" who was 5 months behind on child support. On account of that, our tax return was seized and sent to CA, even though every single week the child support deduction comes out of his paycheck, ever since the order was obtained. The implication that the man is always at fault in these situations is beyond frustrating. My husband was denied the chance to be a father to his son, and now is being forced to pay for this child's "support." I feel the government had NO right taking MY tax refund money, and being treated like some degenerate is beyond insulting. Now we found out that if his son has not graduated high school by the time he turns 18 (we have no clue) support will continue until he graduates, 7 months after turning 18. Ridiculous. The whole thing is frustrating beyond words.

I have Scheuermann's Kyphosis, multi-disc degeneration, a compression fracture on my spine, and I am in major pain everyday. I have been paying child support for eights years, WITHOUT ever missing a payment. My position with WA State was eliminated in June 2011. Even after that I was able to pay child support until 2013 when my finances ran out. I humbled myself and approached DSHS for help with my situation. I asked for help with my child support obligation, which I've never received. I asked for help for rehabilitation so that I could continue employment with my disability. Unfortunately, it's a catch 22 situation. I literally have to prove my disability, by first having an approved SSI claim. Even though I have a physician that has stated "I am unable to work." Even though I have MRI's and X-rays with reports stating I have major spine and neck problems. He are the challenges which prove the current laws are completely discriminatory. 1. Have you ever searched the internet for help as a non-custodial parent? The results are ALWAYS about how to make the NCP pay! 2. Have you ever searched your state's child support enforcement rules? They are always about how they can force NCP's to pay. 3. Even though those of us who have court ordered documents, stating that the "state does not represent the parents, only what's in the best interest of the child." And, that both parents are obligated to pay x amount. You will never hear about a state enforcing child support on a custodial parent. Why? because, obviously the state's would say that's ridiculous! Why would we bother enforcing the CP's obligation, when the child currently lives with the CP? Oh, really? So it's because it wouldn't make sense to have the CP send her portion of CS to the state, just to have them send it back to her? Sorry, I mean back to the child? Why then are NCP's not afforded the opportunity to send their CS portion directly to the child in the form of a cash card or some instrument where how the money can be enforced to actually go to the child. Having worked for the Division of Child Support in the past, I can tell you that the real reason is because the state does in fact represent the CP. NCP's are an easy target, because it's SO easy to make all of us look like bad guys. The state literally has no interest in the wellbeing of your child. They only care about one thing! Revenue! When I worked for DCS, at that time the state brought in approximately $19,000,000.00 per month in CS obligations. Those of you who are reading this, did you know that $19,000,000.00 sits in an interest accruing account? And, since CS payments come in daily, it's like the account consistently has $19,000,000.00 in it all the time. That $19,000,000.00 was accruing at 12% in 2005, if I remember right. And, you would not believe how militaristic and terroristic state enforcement agencies are. They drill it into you head, that you DO NOT represent the CP, NCP, nor the child. You are not there to listen

My child's dad only pays 200 a month. Since that court date that HE TOOK ME TO 4 years ago he's had a job that he made over 1000 a week. But I never said anything. Not all of us are like the lazy women that live on childsupport. My mother made it a point growing up to always be able to support yourself and your children. Aka, never depend on a man for living. He went to jail for a year and got behind and the goverment said something. I never did and I never will. I don't need him to support my daughter. Again, he pays 200 a month. Her daycare alone so I can work to provide for her is 400 a month. Him and his family all like to live off the goverment and I refuse to live that way. That's half the reason we didn't work out. I went to college, and started working. And he got a lucky break working for his brother for a good paying temporary job and getting payed under the table then going to jail for drugs and hitting a police officer. Just saying some moms are pretty bad*****and do the guys job and moms job :)

I have to pay child support to my kids father who was sneaky at getting custody of my kids while they were visiting for the summer. He himself has never had to pay child support the ten to twelve years I had them prior to him getting them. I don't feel i should be liable for the balance of a payment he himself rack up and who ever heard making a mother pay child support while she is on assistance herself and he never paid when i was on assistance with his children. I want to know who can i fight to get the balance off my name so i can get a job and able to continue to take care the five that is not his but the four that is his and he no longer wants to be bother with them since he can't get money for them any longer need help. I can't get a job because they will snatch my check up and how do i live with a job but no money wow.

Child support is out of control and needs to be stopped before things get worse. The core problem with the agency is that when one pays child support the money doesn't just support their child's needs. However, the money also supports the agency's. I feel this is ridiculous and it is time the agency looks to the government for funds to full fill their needs instead of raping the few hard working honest fathers for money they don't have. In my case, child support did not only favor the mother of my child, they did things that should never have been allowed. They not only took a full 17% of my regular wages, which would have supported my child's need sufficiently, but they also were able to take my overtime away from me as well. Money that should never be touched by child support. In my opinion, the same should go for if one decides to take on a second part time job. It is money that one is earning to get above and beyond the child support to breath and get ahead. Ironically, the government would gain from this in taxes as a lot of single fathers would willingly get additional jobs or work as much overtime as they possibly could.... In addition to my overtime, the mother of my child does not work and was not forced to seek employment by the court. So, I am fully supporting my child and the mother, who stated in emails that she doesn't need all the support, is sitting at home and I can't do a thing about it. The court can't even force her to show proof of what she is spending the money on.. Yet, if I would loose my job for some reason tomorrow and was not able to support my child anymore, I could go to jail. This is outrageous!

So, the divorce is not final, however I was told that I needed to pay $1500 a month for the children based on the standard state formula. I have my kids 10 out of 30 days, and the temporary order states that I will only have them 84 days a year, apparently if you get them 90 days or less, you get screwed via the formula. However, the temporary formula is using 84 days as my visitation, while I have them 120 days a year. I don't mind paying my fair share, but this is the kicker. My ex and I have 80k in my school loans of which 95% + was used for joint household debt. I also have two 401k loans for $750 a month. I have to pay all of the joint debt that was used to pay our household expenses while we were married and the child support of $1500 a month. Then I find out she gets all of that money tax free and I have to drop my withholding to 0 (another $400 every other week out of my taxes). So all of the hardwork to try to better myself, so that I could support my family and kids....now my wife makes 45k + a year and gets $18,000 in tax free child support. While I live with my parents, pay all our old joint debt and have less than $200 a month to live on and provide for my children the 120 days they are with me.
