Stings are violating 1st Amendment rights especially where someone uses computer, talks on phone and goes to a public place where arrested and not even talking to anyone. Even if you go to a house and are arrested you haven't committed a crime as they arrest you before even meeting someone even then it would not be a child and couldn't be illegal. It has been interpreted, by some judges, Florida laws used in stings are meant to be taken separately which adds more time. Also, there is no random virtue testing in stings. If you are going to run them it there has to be evidence a crime is being committed and should only target person known to violating the law.REPORT COMMENTS

I sent this in earlier by mistake. I am NOT one who was arrested. I have NEVER been involved with the police or any sex scandal. I signed the petition without reading it first. However, I support those who are against sex stings because I believe the stings manufacture a "criminal" where there isn't one.I believe that they violate our 1st amendment rights and are just another way for counties and cities to gain money and create jobs, or overtime at least. There is so much more to say about this horrible injustice. My heart goes out to those people whose lives have been ruined so insidiously - without concern. What ever happened to the ideas of the sanctity of every life?REPORT COMMENTS

This is the biggest scam and money maker for the counties, judges, prosecutors, attorneys, and of course the police departments for the. Most of these men are scarred because of these fake ads portraying as adults on adult sites and induce this crime by trickery and lies. They are surely hiding the real truth of their unlawful procedures and investigations and sadly to say they do not want any news media or publications about these stings to reach the public all for the funding from the US Justice Department. shame on them!!REPORT COMMENTS

1. Internet sexual solicitation crimes are no different from solicitation on the streets, in a club or on campus or any place where people gather. The only difference is the location or medium. 2. The police would not dare to put out a newspaper dating ad, or a paid dating service ad, pose as an adult, lure adults in, then change pose with a simple numerical switch - "BTW, I'm only 14, not 21" or "I have a 15 yo who needs a teacher". Such "disclosures" violate the e-commerce clauses of the dating / adult website (which stipulates that only those 18+ are allowed to post), violate contract law & entrapment law. It ends up being a random virtue test. 3. The courts have never ruled that police may pose as adults and then switch age to bait & trap men innocent of intent and situational evidence reverse engineered to look like their speech / actions are suddenly criminal with a simple switch. 4. For an 'inchoate' offense to have occured - there must be intent, actions constituting a crime & a potential victim. There is no intent (although there may be intent manufactured or reverse engineered by police), no actions constituting solicitation (traveling to meet someone is not solicitation - US vs. Nitschke) & no victim except an imaginary one created by a promiscuous minded law enf. agent. 3. The whole charade is for money, grants, funds. No other nation in the world entraps so many people into "talking about sex" and then age switching and then prosecuting men for not stopping communication. 4. All of the luring, baiting, charging & actions are committed by the police. 5. 10,000 men all over US have been labeled sex criminals when they touched no one, never intended to solicit a minor - they were all on adult websites soliciting adults who advertised themselves (which the police did). 6. End online sex stings - they are not stings, they catch no predators, they protect no one, they manufacture artificial crimes, destroy real human lives to protect imaginary, fictional, non-existing minor. Real minors have also been arrested & charged.REPORT COMMENTS
