I couldn't agree more with these stings being unlawful and unconstitutional. Because of me being in the wrong place at the wrong time over ten years ago when I was barely a legal adult, I am now forced to register and it has ruined my life. I hope every cop out there that participated or still actively participate in these burn in hell for all eternity. You have ruined countless lives and destroyed families and you will be judged for your actions. True pedophiles don't go on adult websites or chats. They pray on kids directly and you KNOW this to be true.REPORT COMMENTS

the incentive behind these type operations is not to seek out those who are actually perpetrating these types of crimes, but to manufacture as many arrests as possible to make it appear the problem is worse than it really is in order to continue to receive $$$ millions in federal funds from the DOJ. It's called, "cooking the books". There is no proof that men are utilizing adult dating sites to prey upon minors, yet that is where most arrests are from. There are numerous online stories and articles that have exposed the truths about how law enforcement conducts these illegal operations, but unfortunately the DOJ has not legally been challenged on the issue. Until someone does, the $$$ will continue to flow and law enforcement will continue to create criminals. It's the biggest scam ever.REPORT COMMENTS

The way law enforcement are able to entice and use provocative information to lure these men into meeting and talking about sex is absolutely absurd! I am currently dealing with a family member going through this and he has never been in trouble doesn't fit the mold according to his evaluation but yet is serving a year of jail time but was given 20 years with 19 dismissed and this was only two charges for solicitation! There are men actually doing the crimes against children out there that are getting charges dismissed as well as maybe serving 90 days and these people actually had sexual encounters with children where these other men were just talking about sex with someone online pretending to be underage and yet maybe this person believes they are role playing or what if the person had no actual intention on meeting but these officers are able to use provocative language as well as ways to make them meet them but the man on the other end speaks some provocative language and bam he's thrown in jail for solicitation charges and god forbid any photos were exchanged then he is facing child pornography charges! Or judicial system is more focused on the easy numbers they can get on these cases versus the actual child molestors or rapists that are harder to catch because that involves more work! This absolutely needs to change!REPORT COMMENTS

They will never stop it because it is a political hot potato. No one is going side with these people because it would hurt anyone up for reelection. Yes it destroys lives but when local law enforcement parades these arrests it gains them points from "get tough of crime security moms". The only way to combat this is to make sure the general public knows what a conviction will do to them. Your life is over as a sex offender and you might as well just kills yourself as you won't find a job, you will lose your friends and family, and will have an incredible time finding a place to live. In short: you are done if caught!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

If there was an actual victim in these types of "crimes" then I would be all for them. But the only 'Victim" here is the poor stupid guy that they entice and promise to have sex with that the police body slam and throw to the ground so they can parade him into court. It is all about the money. The police get the glory and publicity and pay raises and the cash from disposing of the seized property. The DA's and judges get to kudos for sticking it to another poor dumb guy that didn't know that there were no girls at the place only cops. The courts get fees and fine money and get to grow and expand. The only victim in this is the poor guy who goes to prison and has his life completely ruined FOREVER just because a bunch of middle-age white cops posing as women and underage girls talked dirty to them in a chat room and invited them over. The cops are actually more guilty than the poor guy that gets arrested because they get to 'legally' traffic in kiddie porn and most probably get off on acting like women. This whole setup is wrong and needs to be stopped. Tell everyone you know about this stupid practice and get them to sign this petition. Brilliant Statement "We can't kill pedophiles and other rapists fast enough." Answer - When you catch one of these guys you are not catching a rapist or a pedophile. You are catching a smuck who was typing into a computer who got invited to go to someone's house to meet someone who does not exist. All they do is show up. There is no one to meet. Only overzealous cops out to talk a little kiddie sex and make a high-profile arrest. Intent is in the mind. Cops can not read minds. Judges can not read minds. First Offense - These should be solicitation charges just like looking for a prostitute. Misdemeanor. Fine. Go home and sin no more. Scared straight. On second offense - throw the book at them. This is a victimless crime like tearing up a coke machine for the change inside and a drink. Treat it that way. 'nuff said.REPORT COMMENTS

I am facing charges for trying to entice a minor over the internet. I was contacted by an undercover cop who posed as an underage teen, because of an ad I posted on Craigslist. I had no prior intentions to this contact to have sex with any minors. I honestly don't know if I can win against this injustice. I am scrambling to find ways to get the charges dropped and let me get on with my life. Just spending the weekend in the county jail had me scared beyond anything I've ever felt. These stings need to stop. The officers conducting them need to be stopped. Please, help protect innocent people like me from suffering from this injustice.REPORT COMMENTS

In many countries in Europe, these types of police decoy stings have been made illegal. The military is also doing the sting to service members! I recieved a dishonorable discharge, loss of all pay and benefits, time in prison, and now have to register all because NCIS uses fake profiles on adult sites to entrap service members. I have seen over 30 service members arrested for the same thing while I was confined and the military attorneys always have them sign a plea deal because they don't want to fight the case. They said that I was facing 144 years behind bars just for a stupid conversation. Since no one has fought the case and won, and I did not have the money to hire a civilian attorney of course I was scared and signed the plea deal. I did not send a single picture of myself. Not even a face picture. I didn't ask the girl for nudes and I never went to the house that they were at. I was still charged with attempted sexual assault of a minor and attempted sexual abuse of a minor! All because of a stupid conversation I had with a fake person who's profile said she was 18. Even when they took all of my electronics and did an investigation which lasted almost 2 months, they said they found no child porn, no other conversations with minors and nothing else that has to do with minors on any of my electronics. I lost everything because of this godforsaken sting and I've seen many other men fall the same. We signed our lives over to the government willing to die for our country just to get stabbed in the back by our own people. I am a sex offender because of words! Yet someone who kills another man for no reason at all gets to walk out of prison and has a better chance at living a normal life??? Please tell me where is the logic in this. These stings are just plain wrong.REPORT COMMENTS

My son was caught in one of these stings in Okaloosa County, Florida. I am beyond mad that this is the way our law enforcement officers conduct themselves. My son was on adult sites talking to who he believed were adult women. Because we do not have the money to fight this corrupt system my son is going to be sentenced to prison on the 14th of this month. Once he does the time for crime his life is still over when he gets out. How can this still be going on? If only someone would listen to the people who's lives are being torn apart and put a stop to this. My son is 38 years old...I am almost sure if he was into little girls it would have surfaced way before now. He has never exhibited any behavior now or in the past that would suggest otherwise. He was just an easy mark in my opinion. The poor always pay with prison time because the establishment knows they have to choice but to cop a plea. I just hope these people sleep well at night. I would never in my life treat anyone as my son has been treated in that county. The laws need to be changed and these crooked cops need to be put in jail for all the lives they have ruined!!REPORT COMMENTS

Agreed that these STING operations need to stop. These may catch a few bad apples but at the expense of many good people having their lives ruined. Most appear to be forced to a plea deal since going to trial is a large expense AND the public is already jaded. Also, when caught your name will be thrown into the public to mark you for life or however long it stays on the internet. Let's spend the money on fighting trafficking and stopping child abuse and not ruin the lives of people who got lured into these situations.REPORT COMMENTS

Funny how it is only the men saying or doing nasty things on these stings, but yet they can get rid of all their crap and .This is nothing but entrapment ,they contact you yet you are the predator come on !!!!!!! I Believe these types of stings are entrapment because first of all the police are violating the dating sites Terms of use since the minimum age to participate is 18 years of age. Which makes any contact by them VOID by default. Also in most cases the police initiate contact also entrapment. Lastly police never disclose their tactics or what they said to get someone to meet them so they can arrest them. The entrapment laws were changed after the government lost several prosecutions one of the biggest was John Deloren. A conservative Supreme Court said it's ok to lie to potential suspects in a criminal investigation. These stings have ruined lives and destroyed families it's time to declare this type of action unconstitutional.REPORT COMMENTS
