These stings use lies and manipulation to trap people who would otherwise just be sitting at home fantasizing about sexual contact with other consenting adults into meeting with a police officer who has been trained to convince people to do what they want. Craigslist stings do nothing to remove predators from the street and don't even take into consideration the fact that these men and women are on an 18+ dating site. It is a sick injustice used to promote police forces and make them look like they're doing something helpful when, in reality, they are ripping apart the lives and reputations of often good people doing stupid things that hurt no one.REPORT COMMENTS

My spouse is now serving a 10 year federal prison sentence as a result of one of these sting operations. Law enforcement is even capable of "entrapping" a person into something they've never even done. A future registered virgin. Imagine that.REPORT COMMENTS

Its disgraceful the police can contact you on a site saying you agree to be at least 18 and entice you into something.. All they are doing is taking innocent men with no desire to be with children and turning them into criminals thus making them do more illegal activities in most cases just to surviveREPORT COMMENTS

A friends daughter went on an all adult web site and ended up getting arrested. It has ruined her life. She has always been a hard working, responsible person. She is innocent! She committed no crime! She can no longer be around her younger brother or any other child except her young son. Obviously, the courts are aware that she is no danger or she wouldn't be allowed to be around her own child. The true abusers will abuse their own! The harsh punishments from these stings breaks down the whole family unit. Loss of jobs, where you live, the route you take to work, etc. all for agencies to make $$$$. It must stop!REPORT COMMENTS

What is there to say, more than could be said here. Police with aid of ICAC, politicians and judges are destroying men who have no idea they are headed into the perfect storm. It appears none of the thousands of people involved in the stings will not tell the truth about what is happening. They get to go home to their wife, sons and daughters and think they have protected them. Their indoctrination is complete as none will step outside the brotherhood and tell the truth.REPORT COMMENTS

If you look at the majority of those arrested and lives ruined, they are first time offenders who were baited/switched on dating sites. These young men are NOT sex offenders but revenue generators for law enforcement and it is disgusting that they don't care about ruining these young mens lives. http://floridaactioncommittee.org/floridas-sex-offender-registry-almost-doubles-in-10-years/ A 93% increase in a decade of registered sex offenders in the state of Florida indicates to me that either we as a society are raising sexual offenders or law enforcement and current laws are not specific enough that they actually target real predators, but young men looking for relationships or internet roll playing. Most of these guys have never even met the persons they are accused of offending.REPORT COMMENTS

False advertising, bait & switch, illegal posing, luring, scheming, entrapment, conspiring, racketeering for more money when there is no ongoing crime, implanting criminal ideas in the minds of innocent people & urging them to come meet a parent of a fictional, imaginary minor = not a police action worthy of the 21st century, but a fundamental violation of human rights in entrapment that reeks of the 14th.REPORT COMMENTS

These stings are destroying innocent people's lives! Corrupt and unconstitutional! They violate First Amendment rights. The ICAC standards are followed properly. Time and money wasted creating crime to entrap innocent people rather catching the real criminals that actually do violate real children! Please stop them! Our prisons are full as it is and has innocent people that don't belong in there. Florida is the worst! Polk county needs to be investigated.REPORT COMMENTS

I was scared into taking a plea in TN for solicitation of a minor, and during the sting, I never spoke with a minor nor did the "mother" pretend to be a minor at any time. I only spoke with the mother. Furthermore, I told the mother that I only wanted to meet her... not her daughter. I was somewhere I shouldn't have been as I was in a relationship of 10 years. It split our home in two. 8 kids were split apart as some were my biological and some weren't. (We weren't married at the time of the offense, though we'd lived together for 10 Years and had 3 kids of our own).REPORT COMMENTS

Here you have the Central ICAC Task Force that is run by Sheriff Grady Judd racking in hundreds of thousands of DoJ ICAC Program federal $$$$ to run these unconstitutional internet sex stings in Central Florida which purposely use "bait and switch" tactics to entrap innocent men with no predisposition to have sex with a minor. This coupled with the seizure of property, money, cars, and electronic equipment which they are later auctioning, this Central Florida ICAC Task Force is running an illegal racket to add $$$ to their Sheriff and Police Departments. In addition to all of this, is knowingly breaking federal law "posse comitatus" by including the military law enforcement agencies (NCIS, etc) as part of their task forces which are helping them arrest innocent civilians in these illegal stings. Finally, these DoJ funded and trained ICAC Task Forces knowingly and purposely are violating the DoJ ICAC Operational and Investigating Standards which legally define the rules on the conduct of these federally funded ICAC Task Force internet sex stings. The Task Forces response is that they have to violate these federal ICAC Standards to make high number arrest, i.e. "DO WHATEVER IT TAKES" to keep the federal funds coming to fund their personnel, equipment and unconstitutional stings.REPORT COMMENTS
