The government has no idea how screwed they are when they realize they overcompensated the amount of revenue they are getting from this tan tax, let alone the expenses paid for lawyers, etc. PLUS THE HEALTH CARE PLAN IS A COMPLETE DISASTER AND MAKES NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER! OBAMA GET OUT OF OFFICE!

This is an unfair attack at an industry that doesn't have the lobbyists and resources to help educate representatives. Tanning salons offer vitamin D and an option to get it safely and in moderation. Shame on congress for passing this without knowing more about the tanning industry.

I agree that if we are taxed on tanning what in the H---- will we be taxed on next, i own a small salon and am just struggling to make ends meet, so this does not help.I have a great idea how about we tax High Class with all these stupid taxes and give us middle and low class people room to breathe?? Are we not in America anymore?/

Unfortunately I was born a pale pasty white girl. I have a full time job working monday-friday 8-4. I don't have time to lay out and soak up all the free sun like other people do. And I only live about 1/2 hour from the beach. This is a blatant discrimination against white working women who are the majority of tanning bed users. If you are going to impose a tax, do it on something that any person from any background would use. Alcohol and tobacco, of course! Candy, soda, gum with sugar in it, red meats, sure. Blacks, whites, hispanics, old, young, short, tall, fat, skinny... they all smoke, drink, and have to eat! I'm not a smoker, but I do drink socially. If I want to drink and eat sweets or red meat, I'll pay the tax! Bottom line, I've been tanning for years. I've yet to see 1 black or hispanic person in a tanning salon. If they were trying to tax hair weaves or ethnic hair straighteners, you can bet the ACLU would come forward and cry racism! I intend to write a scathing letter to my ACLU about how they are also not doing their job, protecting my rights. Something is going to kill us all eventually! The government doesn't give a crap about our health! The sicker we are, the more money insurance and drug companies make off of us. Then they can continue to line the pockets of our crooked politicians. I have good health insurance for my job. If I wind up with skin cancer I'm covered. And I'd be willing to go so far as to say if I get a melanoma, raise my health insurance premiums! If I did it to myself, I'll pay for it! I know I'm not happy having to pay for other people's illnesses that they brought upon themselves! But that should be up to the insurance companies. When is the government going to just butt out?! And how many people actually die from skin cancer? I don't hear them putting out any statistics on that fact! My dad has had several melanomas removed from his face and body. Minimal work and minimal scaring. And he never used a tanning bed a day in his life mind you. If you're going to get skin cancer, you're going to get it. You can't stop people from being exposed to the sun... I pay my taxes and don't appreciate getting taxed even more for trying to boost my self esteem and clear up my skin, which are benefits to tanning. The day I will willingly pay this tax is the day I don't have to stand on line at the local WaWa behind a non-english speaking person using a welfare card (AKA my tax dollars) to purchase 4 large Red Bull energy drinks. No I din't make that one up. Maybe if the government spent our tax dollars more wisely, such as putting restrictions on people who get the money, the red-blooded Americans who love their country wouldn't have to suffer so bad! And I do love my country, but hate my government! The higher up you go on the food chain, the more the common sense goes out down the toilet. And that's exactly where our country is going. Our founding fathers and all the war heroes who fought for our rights and have g

Tanning was chosen over elective plastic surgery? How much did plastic surgeons drop out of their pockets to make this happen?
