The framer's of our constitution established the Electoral College because voters in 1788/1789 were uneducated and unable to be informed about candidates and their positions. This is no longer true. Every vote should count in this country and this is the second time in 16 years that a candidate who won the popular vote will not become president of this country. Let's change a portion of the Constitution that disenfranchises voters. Unless you step-up, you are part of the problem!Nov 10th, 2016Michael K. from Austin, TX writes:
The idea of the electoral college has always assumed that the citizens of America need to be protected from their own decisions. At one time, this may have been true. But now it is clear that this institution has left us beholden to the values and conceptions of out of touch representatives who instead of protecting us from making mistakes has chosen to willfully put us in harms way. Our country is not done, but this system should be. How can we expect to survive, when the people driving this thing have been blind drunk for so long?REPORT COMMENTS

The very definition of democracy is control selected by the majority of its members. The electoral college goes against this practice. The electoral college shows that every vote does not count and that my voice, and those of my fellow citizens, goes unheard. It should not continue.REPORT COMMENTS

There is absolutely no justifiable reason why the electoral college should have more power than the popular vote. We were stuck with an idiot who caused two wars and it's about to happen again.REPORT COMMENTS
