Why is this outdated and outrageous portion of the Constitution still in effect? there will always be a divided country as long as the people by popular vote do not elect the president. Even this administration in the White House claimed it was rigged. It is a fraud to call America a democracy as long as this hypocrisy continues to exist. Yes please remove the electoral college because it is outdated and unfair! Was the electoral college initiated to help the slave states back in the time of slavery? I am infuriated knowing my vote in California carries far less weight than a vote in Wyoming...totally unfair. The president should be elected with the most votes from every American citizen whose individual vote should carry equal weight. I feel that the Electoral college vote should be removed because this country of ours suppose to be for the people and by the people. President Trump stated that the country is going back to the people. I'm sorry to say the people did not get the President they voted for by the majority of the vote. These electors are the ones that make the choice. I guess this is not the home of the free. So every in office has been aware of this and are as guilty of not letting the public have a true choice in who is president. I will keep an eye on this and anyone in office who opposes the removal will not have my vote and I will pass this along. I do not care what party refuses to do so. I completely agree with you. Republicans only like it because each time the more popular candidate had fewer electoral votes, it was always the Republican benefitting. Hell, the Democrats have won the popular vote 6 of the last 7 times now. Other countries around the world think our electoral college is stupid. It exist so all of those little states that don't even have a lot of people living in them have a voice. well, what about a larger amount of the people living in those densely populated states? Some people also say that if there were no EC, candidates would never visit small rural states like montana, idaho, wyoming ect, well guess what! they still don't!!!! I agree, get rid of the electoral college. It is outdated and doesn't directly reflect the will of the majority of Americans. Example: 2016 election and 2000 when the popular vote didn't equate to the winner. Ino my opinion it's a way for Republicans to get their turn in the white house.
