My son beat up a bully at 18. He is a well liked and talented young man and had never been in trouble. He learned his lesson during the two years that we fought for no jail time. Now he's getting free counseling and a free education (thank you taxpayers!) but he can't come home at night for 4 more years. Really? I can pay for counseling outside of prison. The victim got kicked off his college campus for doing drugs and is shooting heroin now. What is wrong with this picture?REPORT COMMENTS

Most of our young men and women where in their late teens when they made a mistake that landed them state or Fed time. Most of these men and women are first time offenders who received extreme prison time. Of course they should do time for their crimes but half of their lives are not worth it. Not to mention the danger their lives could be in being incarcerated with what they call careless animals. Some of these men and women have been killed or nearly killed in prison. Loosing their lives over a crime that should?ve only landed them maybe 5 to 8 years. It?s not worth it. Some of these offenders have way bigger hearts then their crimes (mistakes) and should have a chance at life.REPORT COMMENTS
