I would just like to say that I understand the term do the crime do the time but my brother is a wonderful person who made a bad choice like most of us do from time to time that does not mean that he deserves to spend 40 years behind bars he is a good man he is rehabilitated and deserves to come home murders spend less time behind bars then he will at 85% PLEASE SEND MY BROTHER HOME

first time offenders shouldn't have this- but if they re-offend add the remaining time to the next sentence

I feel that the law is way too strict for those who are innocent and being locked up like an animal for something tbey did not do and have to serve 85% of 15 years for something they cannot seem to win with a lawyer who just wants money. My fiance was accused of something that he did not do and his wife at the time went to her law enforced parents to charge him with a felony that not only takes him away from his girls but ruins his career as a welder/iron worker. He is completely innocent and there are people who are forced into false confessions with the force of threats used by police. I feel all first time violent offenders should be given a second chance at life, love, a job they went to college for and not be branded with a felony to follow while being incarcerated. These people should be able to show that they are not who others portrayed them to be. So why not give a new chance at rebuilding life for them instead of treating them all like those who do belong in there. Repeat offenders get out more than 1st time offenders. That is what I don't understand. Its time to make a change in the system!!! Punish with longer time for 2nd time offenders and release early the 1st time offenders!

In Missouri, offenders are supposed to be rehabilitated! I know how things go from the inside and outside! My husband is incarcerated and I was also a officer at 1 of the prisons for 2 years! The prisons in Missouri for 1, are so overcrowded it's ridiculous and the offenders are not being rehabilitated! It's a joke! Also when these men and women are sentenced it should be the same no matter what city, county, judge, etc. Depending on the crime every offender should be sentenced the same! A 1st offense DWI offender gets 15 years that didn't injure or kill anyone but a sex offender can get 7 years and have to register forever for touching, raping, sodomizing, etc a little kid that will never get his/her life back! Then you have staff that get paid crap and treat these guys like animals! The prisons in Missouri should be looked at! The offenders were never a problem, it was always staff!

I believe any inmate who has changed their life since being locked up or if their case didn't have enough evidence should have their case re looked at and given another chance plus 85% is to much time .
