I was a CFII helicopter instructor at a Post 911 approved school for 2 years. I do not support taking veterans rights away, but the utter waste and abuse of the veterans which attended our school was awful to see as a tax payer, pilot and flight instructor. Only 10% of our students continued through to CFII, while most quit claiming' " It's too hard or I only wanted to do it because it seemed cool". In the mean time they complained, were late, did not show up at all to their flights, some were smoking weed, and wasted anywhere from $20,000 to $85,000. I think they should be able to use their Post 911 benefits, but if a class is failed, they should have to pay the VA back. Instead of having no accountability and taking advantage of of the whole VA system and ruining it for others that actually want to use it.REPORT COMMENTS

There are veterans like myself who are trying and succeeding to make something of themselves. Aviation is not at all easy. It is extremely hard to fly and to learn and abide by all the regulations. Many flight instructors are veterans who got their certification with their GI Bill. They risk their lives teaching other veterans to fly. For all of us, this is our dream. For many of those left dead on the battlefield, this too was their dream. It is a horrible dishonor and discredit to not allow veterans this rightfully earned opportunity. Yes we use taxpayers' money. We, veterans, are taxpayers. We will replenish the pilot market for the aviation industry. We will contribute and help this economy. Many of us will fly for air ambulances, forestry fire fighting, and search and rescue. We will continue to serve and protect this country at home. What about the millions in prison who do not contribute to society, and get billions of taxpayer money? What about the millions who abuse welfare, food stamps, unemployment, etc.? How dare anyone cut the benefits of those who did NOT earn them by having more kids or not having a job! How dare you take the benefits from those who have held their dying brother in their arm, or have seen their sister blown up in front of them! How dare you!REPORT COMMENTS

It's already ridiculous how hard it is for veterans to apply GI bill funding to flight training, this is ridiculous, why is it that veterans wanting to pursue aviation careers have so many barriers put in the way.
