As a veteran, I believe I should be able to use my VA benefit any way I see fit to include flight school not because I am entitled to it but because I served my country and worked for it. Wake up fellow veterans as today they pick flight training, tomorrow it will law school or school of medicine. I am currently utilizing my Post 9/11 GI Bill to pursue my Aviation Certifications as a fixed wing pilot and if this bill passes it will truly complicate life for myself, as well as other fellow classmates and their families who have already planned out the next few years of their life according to the notion of finishing this program with backing from the VA.REPORT COMMENTS

I used these benifits to earn my rotor-wing commercial pilot certificate. If it wasn't for the post 911 GI Bill I would never have had the opportunity. I as a veteran plan to use my benefits to become a professional rotary wing pilot and would be devestated if people who don't actually understand the sacrifices made or the true mean of public service strip away a huge opportunity for myself and others like me to Pursue a passion and find a way to again serve the public that I will enjoy through to retirement. If this is targeting only pilot students then this is discriminatory because all students going through nursing, dental, engineering programs etc would still remain in place. Congress needs to understand that college alone will not get someone a job, our vets today need employable skills. Unfortunately some of the bigger schools are taking advantage of the system in place, it should not take $500,000 to train a basic entry level pilot. This is just the school "selling" labs to the student for a massive return. Look at any normal helicopter flight school out there on the west coast, priced out it takes 75k to become certified flight instructors (CFI). In the normal progression on pilots, once the student becomes an instructor he then works as a CFI to build hours and experience. So why are some of the bigger schools (Upper Limit Avn) charging 125K for the exact same training? What needs to happen is these larger schools be taken back to earth and the TRUE cost of helicopter/airplane training be evaluated to get a student to his CFI rating, then hold the student to this amount, if he fails a lab then he has to pay out of pocket to take it over.REPORT COMMENTS

Not only am I personally against this, but it is a digrace that more veterans benefits are being stolen from congress because of reckless spending in other areas.
