Save our kids & put an end to these gruesome killings and adopt what other industrialized nations like Canada and Australia have adopted for gun control. When I was young, we hid under our desk at school as protection against a nuclear attack. Lockdowns, evacuations, drills, armed security guards are as ineffective as those desks to protect our kids, as long as people can so easily acquire guns. Some people say, "It's PEOPLE who kill people, not guns." How ridiculous. It's people who kill people--with guns! We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines! What are we waiting for? The time has come to make sure that only the police and the military have access to automatic and semi-automatic weaponry. It is also time for the closing of any and all loopholes regarding the purchase of weapons at gun shows. Citizens can purchase handguns for protection or rifles for hunting after waiting on a thorough background check. This is not about taking away people's guns, nor is it an automatic cure for every lunatic out there who wants to commit violence. However, the time has come to make it as difficult as possible for individuals to commit the heinous acts and that starts with limiting the access to weaponry that makes it easier in any way shape or form to commit mass murder.
