I don't think our founders had magazines with multiple rounds in them to be turned on to children in mind when they framed the 2nd amendment. Please enact serious legislation to ban assault weapons. It's time. It's what the people want (but maybe not the industry who has millions to block this legislation). Thank you for your service. -

The notion that just because we can't prevent all tragedies from happening, we shouldn't do anything at all to prevent them is really ignorant. Please sign the petition!REPORT COMMENTS

We have to have insurance to drive a car and the same way we have to impose an insurance for owning guns or ammo. The insurance will cover up to some amount for every victim due to gun violence or accidental shooting and legal representation. This should be a reasonable first step while not preventing gun accidents or violence but compensate victims and next of kin. Guns may be legal but users have through the insurance to pay for damage the weapons cause intentional or unintentional use. If there is a constitutional right to bear arms does not mean it has to be cost free.REPORT COMMENTS

No citizen of this country who is not under the authority of the United States Military or similar official governmental/municipal defense or police department should have access to or legal use of any automatic or semi-automatic weapon. Those in the private sector, as well as those who purchase weapons for hobbyist activity, as well as those who feel the need and desire to own a weapon for self-defense, be they handguns, rifles or similar, must undergo extensive background check as well as a psychological examination mandated and conducted by a central governmental body paid for, in large part, by the NRA and those who demand the right to "bear arms" in the name of self defense and the Second Amendment. This woman who legally "collected guns" as a hobby, in the process, indirectly attributed to the loss of 27 innocent lives and the life of one very mentally disturbed individual.REPORT COMMENTS

I have never understood the need to allow these weapons of war on the streets of this country and now maybe, just maybe, we can begin to get rid of them once and for all. Most every other developed country in the world already has.REPORT COMMENTS

Also all extended round canisters and magazines should also be banned with a requirement that they all be turned in for confiscation with a proper government renumeration being paid. The penalties should be the same as those for illegally owning machine guns.REPORT COMMENTS
