This type of weaponry is absolutely unnecessary in the civilian sphere. Its only purpose is for killing human beings in large quantities - our neighborhoods are not war zones.

What takes priority? The right to a firearm, or domestic tranquility. Again and again the second amendment is trampling on domestic tranquility. That domestic tranquility is promised to US in the Constitution. An amendment from the Bill of Rights is infringing on the promises made in the Constitution. The harmony of our government's foundation is broken. How can this be fixed? BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS.

These rifles are meant for soldier fighting an enemy. They are not meant for civilians.

What possible reason is there for anyone other than law enforcement or the National Guard to use a military style assault weapon in this country? You don't hunt with them (or shouldn't if you ever want to call hunting a sport and yourself a sportsman), and you probably shouldn't try to use them in defense of your home, since you're more likely to kill your family as the rounds go through multiple walls. This argument of the Constitutional Right to Bear Arms is wearing a little thin when at the time the Constitution was written its founders were using muzzle-loading rifles firing round balls, not automatic rifles firing 13 rounds a second! The argument that if everyone was armed these massacres wouldn't happen is equally crazy; in a club full of people, if someone started shooting and everyone pulled out their guns, wouldn't it be just a little bit difficult to decide who to shoot?

Let's stop killing the innocent and prevent gun accidents, the Newtown Children and the recent hate crime in Orlando should bring us together to ban assault rifles and make it harder to get any gun.

No reason for a private citizen to own a military style assault weapon, they should have been banned years ago.

How many more innocents are we going to allow to be slaughtered due to the NRA's persistent lobbying? It's beyond tragic - it's preposterous. Politicians have blood on their hands.
