IT has to STOP. We are now a nation of HATE and assault weapons do not belong in anyone's hands except our military or SWAT. Please make a change for our future!

There is no need for anyone other than the military and police that should have assault rifles. Your regular citizen has no need for them, other than to kill people.

I am a proud, lifelong resident of NJ. NJ has some of the best gun control legislation in the country. But NJ is not an island and, as this weekend's tragic events have again underscored, gun control is a national issue. We let tiny children be massacred in Newtown and stood by. We watched while students were slaughtered in Oregon and did nothing. We witnessed mass murder in San Bernadino yet focused our attention on iPhone privacy issues. Now, we have established a new record, a higher bar for the number of victims killed in a matter of minutes by a crazed bastard with an assault weapon. Perhaps we should take pride in this 'achievement'? After all, our inaction is implicit agreement, yes? I am sick and dizzy with this endless cycle of horror, hand-wringing and amnesia. I want my government to ban assault rifles now. I need you to do it now. Please, please, please. I am begging. I will do whatever I can to help.

There is no reason American "citizen militia" should require or include assault weapons. Assault weapons have no place in our daily American life. We may not be able to stop all attacks, but we can stop some--and isn't each life saved priceless? "He who saves one life saves the world." Please: 1. Ban assault rifles 2. Require more stringent background checks for gun ownership. We can preserve law-abiding Americans' rights to bear arms while making our country a safer place with more regulation. Thank you.

How many more Americans must die at the hands of mentally imbalanced shooters before you people in government grow a pair and legislate tighter gun controls and tell the NRA TO GO TO HELL? People on a terrorist watch list should not be able to walk into a gun store and walk out with the means to kill 50 people and wound another 53 in a matter of minutes. There is an atmosphere of hate growing in this country and the means to lethally express that hate is too readily available. It needs to stop....NOW! Next time the gun could be aimed at you, your family or other people you love. What then? Too Late....they're dead, wounded, or maimed. Is that what it's going to take before you do something? I sincerely hope not!

Weapons of war should not be in the hands of the citizenry. How the people who are supposed to represent us can sleep at night is beyond me. They gave blood on their hands.

This petition is from an earlier tragedy. What a SHAME that my congress which is suppose to follow the people's wishes vs their own or who provides the big $$, still hasn't addressed the ban on assault weapons and tigger gun control! Please!!!!! Do something!!!

We can either move towards the well-armed irresponsible, deregulated, low-trust, high-violence society that we see in too much of the world (Nigeria, as one example), or we can work ? without removing the right to bear arms ? towards a responsible, regulated, constrained, higher-trust, lower-violence culture (such as Norway, as one example). We can not remain where we are. Tough choices must be made. Where do we want to go? What kind of culture do we wish to be?

Enough is enough. Our founding fathers certainly did not anticipate the second amendment extending to assault weapons and high capacity magazines.

It is unacceptable that this ban has not gone into effect years ago. Stop allowing innocent lives to be taken too soon!
