This amendment helped me greatly 3 years ago when I had to take off work for up to a month following complications from a tubal pregnancy. After that month my dr released me saying I was physically able to go back to work. Mentally and emotionally however I was not, especially considering I worked in the public sector where I saw babies and children daily and this was upsetting for me at first.

I lost my daughter at 24 weeks. My husband was only able to stay home with me for a few days while I recovered. The loss of a child is not something you can get over in a matter of hours or days. It changes your whole life.

I feel that the FMLA should also be expanded to cover employees that work for a corporation that has more than 50 employees nation wide. I work for a company that employees over 2000 employees nationwide but the location I work for has less than 25 and our employees are not protected under FMLA.

The only reason why I was not forced to go back to work when my son died was because I had to have an emergency c-section and was required to stay out for the six weeks.

Losing a child is one of the hardest things any parent has to go through. Having a miscarriage takes a lot out of you, not only physical and mentally, but emotionally. Having to go back to work immediately is extremely painful.

The last thing a parent should have to worry about when making funeral arrangements for their own child is whether or not they will have a job to return to!
