I lost my only child in 2001 and did not have the benefits of the FMLA. Luckily my employer at that time gave me some time off with pay but I know most people are not so lucky.Jan 26th, 2011Someone from Baltimore, MD signed.

I lost a child ans was fortunate enough that my employer worked with me completely. I took the full twelve weeks off, but the first month was to be at my son's bedside. My company allowed me to use the remainder of the time. This should definitely be included. This is the most horrific thing a parent can go through. 7 1/2 years later I still struggle with the loss.REPORT COMMENTS

I think it is very important to add this to the FMLA to give parents time to mourn. Its hard losing anyone, especially a baby and i feel its unconstutional to not allow proper time to grieve over a child just as you would need proper time to bond with a child.REPORT COMMENTS
