Dear Congress members, I think that we need to get stricter laws for our furry "family members". People that abuse animals aren't getting the message because we are going too easy on them. I know jails are filled with much worse offenders by others standards but my pets are my family too and I think it's outrageous that someone that tortures an innocent animal and then only gets little jail time and no real huge fine. They go out and do it again because there is no huge punishment for it. I think we should definitely make animal cruelty a bigger deal by giving these sick people more than just a small slap on the wrist. I hope that we can protect our animals better in the future and put people who do these cruel acts where they belong IN JAIL.REPORT COMMENTS

abusing an animal is not ony cruel and unusual, its just down right wrong. abusing something that cant fight back is just a way for human beings to make themselves feel better about themselves...grow up get a life and do the right thing, they are the only living things that dont judge you, they love you unconditionally, instead of recieving love and respect from these amazing creatures, human beings hurt them. human beings r a self destructive species, we hurt kill amd drive into extinction eveything thaat seems to b in the way, if you look at it realistically our existence is a single grain of sand on the timeline of this earth, they were here before us and will b after we are gone, we need them they dont need us...we incrate people for years on death row tax dollars just bing wasted, if your going to call it HUMANLY UTHANIZE then maybe we should use it on what its named after instead of wasting tax payers money to keep serial killers and rapist, and phedophiles alive to continue to spread of violence and teach the guy who just wanted to smoke a joint how to become detramental to our society as a whole we are the reason for the vicious cycle and downgrade of our natio...jails are overpopulated just like dog shelters yet we HUMANLY UTHENIZE THE ANIMALS, lets start getting rid of what continues to taint our society,and put burden on a already crippled nation...instead of spending billions of dollars on busting pot-farmers and moonshiners filling our jails, basically giving them a place to go to learn how to commit worse crimes when the get out, prohibition didnt work, instead of seeing that in front of your face the simple solutions exist, if u dont think so well read the paper watch the news lets start thinking like the men who built this country they obviously knew what they were doing or we wouldnt be here. instead of debating and yapping lets start doing something about these issues...if a country doesnt listen to its people it has no backbone, without the people you have no country, instead of saving innocent lives that deserve a chance, not because they are animals because the really did nothing wrong they just wanted to unconditionally love the human they were with. you let convicts out of jail beacuse they behaved and they go right back to harming our society as a whole we really need to stop thinkng politically correct and start thinkng about whats going to keep us from becoming what we send our fathers, brothers, mothers,sisters,to fight against...honestly i think we are better then everything else on this earth, a nation of truth, pride, honor we are no longer just words that politicions say as a way of pascifing the whole to make us feel better about doing the wrong things, we are no better then the man who beats his dog or makes it fight, abandoned them or just use them when its good for us. if we dont start moving foward and understanding that all living things have a right to be here and be treated fair and right we will end up lREPORT COMMENTS

It is wrong for us to live in a society where importance of life is measured by species. If a domestic animal that is considered a part of a family is brutally murdered at the hands of man than the sentence needs to fit that of a human murder. It's a proven fact that an individual who tortures and murders animals very likely goes on to committing acts of violence against humans. I hear about cruelty to animals more and more every day. Something has to give. Why should life be measured on a grading scale? This is a civilized society, right?
