Please repeal these unfair parts of of Social Security. We have paid into it, our spouses have paid into it. We only want our fair share after being in public service, not to be punished for serving.

I worked for 16 years paying into SS. After that I started working for a school district that did not pay SS, it only paid into the Teacher's Retirement System. I worked for the school for 20 years and am ready to retire this May 2017. After visiting SS in 8/16, I find out that a LARGE portion of my benefits will be STOLEN from me. I worked for this retirement money at both jobs!! Why is it that people who are lazy and WON'T work are receiving money? I'm old and am in stage 3 of kidney failure, I WANT ALL the benefits that I have WORKED FOR. I'm not asking for anyone to take care of me, I ONLY WANT what I worked for!!!!!

I have worked continuously since I was 15. I am now 67. I believe it is unfair that the Social Security GPO unfairly penalizes workers who have spent a lifetime in both the private and public sectors. I strongly support HR 1795.

I worked for 20 years in Industry. There was a push to get those in industry to teach in high school. I chose to leave industry to teach not knowing I would be penalized. I am know 68 and retired after 18 years of teaching. I have a teachers pension of $2400. And my social security is clawed back to $1003.00. Really, had I stayed in industry I would have been much better off.

JUSTICE DELAYED...IS JUSTICE DENIED !!! WIDOWS NEED HELP NOW! Kent Conrad and James Lockhart....think that Soc Security should be MORE FAIR to Widowed Women! Conrad thinks widowed women should GET THEIR OWN BENEFITS and 3/4 of their DECEASED SPOUSE'S BENEFITS! This model for Soc Sec would keep Widowed Women OUT OF POVERTY!!! REPEAL: WEP & GPO for Widowed Women WHO TEACH IN MISSOURI! Tell Congressmen to PASS: HR 973 & S 1651. OR....Time To Correct the MATH FOR WEP....per Kevin Brady's HR 711. Social Security Advisory Board should be publishing a POSITION PAPER on the GOVERNMENT PENSION OFFSET....and the harmful effects it causes for widows...by the end of this year! Just as BRADY has said...TIME TO CORRECT THE MATH FOR WEP...the SSAB....should be documenting that it's TIME TO CORRECT THE MATH FOR WIDOWS!!! WE EARNED AND DESERVE OUR SURVIVOR BENEFITS!!! I asked NEA lobbyist...Al Campos...questions about GPO....and he couldn't answer my questions !!! I have paid NEA union dues for 25 years! I need to know about the 60 months exemption for GPO. Supposedly...if you work the LAST 60 MONTHS...IN A POSITION THAT PAYS INTO SOC SECURITY...AND THE JOB IS IN THE SAME RETIREMENT SYSTEM....YOU CAN BE EXEMPTED FROM GPO . Has anyone tried this? What do you know about GPO....that I don't know ????? Oh----Pat Toomey (Penn) supports S 3303....but it would ONLY REPEAL...WEP & GPO....FOR POLICE OFFICERS AND FIREFIGHTERS. WHY DOESN'T S 3303...INCLUDE HARD-WORKING TEACHERS......ESPECIALLY WIDOWS ??????? There's suppose to be a law...that all new teachers in Missouri...are suppose to SIGN A PAPER....stating that the SCHOOL DISTRICT...has INFORMED THEM ABOUT SOCIAL SECURITY...AND THE 2 LAWS....WEP & GPO. I just asked a NEW TEACHER....if she signed her paper....SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT! I personally don't think the LAW is being followed. I know NEA....NEVER TALKS ABOUT WEP & GPO!!! Whenever I tell someone about these 2 LAWS.....they don't believe me! My Fnancial Planner and Tax advisor....were completely unaware of WEP & GPO !!!

The law is devastating to anyone depending on social security to supplement a modest government pension. Don't treat retirees as welfare recipients. This is insurance we paid for and not an entitlement as it is spun to be seen as. The social security tax hikes of the early 1980's should be put into Treasury Bonds as promised and not to the general fund where it can be raided by Congress and the President. 2.7 TRILLION dollars has been taken and needs to be PAID BACK! Social Security would not be in questionable status were that done, and it would be less of an issue to repeal this unevenly crafted legislation. As frequently happens, Congress fixed a problem with a hatchet instead of a scalpel.

i think its very unfair, that as a postal retiree after 42 years of service, not only do i have to pay for my postal health benefits, but also have to pay medicare over 700 dollars because to cover what my social security falls short of covering, it is unfair that i cannot receive my full social security benefits. losing two thirds of my benefits that i was entitled to puts a strain on my retirement. when i see that people receive benefits without working a day in there lives tells me how unfair the system really is.since i turned 65, i went from receiving 72 dollars a month, to paying about 50 dollars a month to cover my shortage to medicare,. does not seem very fair.

well; it's a new year going into the 2nd month ,everything is still statis Quo with this movement to repeal this devistating bill to all the pensioners who contributed to this (now I beleive foolish system called S. S.) to this mandatory pension fund, then when we (FireFighters,Police Officers,Teachers, Postal Workers,Nurses etal) worked two or more jobs in our working life time are told that we cannot collect our full benifits which we were forced to by law to contribute to the system are screwed, some of including myself are still workinmg in a part time capacity to make up our financial short fall of being screwed out of our money that we paid into the system, and are still paying out of our part time employment now is just not right, so how about you Politicians get off your BUTTS and repeal this bill . ps Sen E.Warren I noticed yor picture in our daily newspaper in your capacity on the Pension Board, how about you helping to move this along, . I think you for one dont have the need of looking for retirement income, but we do ,so help us getting this repeal passed, thank you. J.S.P.

I worked 16 yrs for USPS and took a medical retirement because of work related injuries. This 16 yrs. was only a fraction of my 45 yr. work record. My annual SS statement indicated that I would receive almost $1400. per month at age 62. After WEP was applied, I receive only about $450. per month and $104. per month is taken from that for Medicare. Is this the thanks I get for hauling the mail thru snow, rain, heat, and storms until my body was unable to perform?

I had to retire before 66 years because of medical conditions. I worked as a fed employee for 20 years but also put in over 20 years in the private sector. My SS has been reduced because I happened to work for the US government for part of my career. If I hadn't worked as a fed but rather was collecting a private pension, I wouldn't be 'punished' in this way. This is a very short-sited idea, not conducive to adequate staff recruiting or retention, in a time when everyone is worried about what happens when they retire. This should be changed.

Please repeal the GPO and the WED which impacts so many of us unfairly. We are being unnecessarily penalized for the work we have earned throughout our lifetime and were hoping to have for our retirement. I do not understand why just teachers, police, firefighters, postal workers, civil servants, and state nurses are being targeted when other private sectors are not affected. This is discrimination.

I have not complained before, now I am ready...My husband paid into SS for at least 50 years. When he died I was allowed less then.09 of my window's benefits which barely covered my medicare payment which my state pension required I have. This year my ss will no longer cover the new medicare rate, therefore the rate is increased over and above what it should be, ss demands I pay a year in advance and I have been told there is nothing I can do. I am angry, the government dictates the rules, and does not care. They should at least return the thousands my husband paid into ss....oh I forgot, ss does not have money. No matter what is said there is no one who can will /help. I have been told nothing will ever change.

Let's see. If someone pd into social security for 20 years and then went into gov work they lose their 20 years social security.because they stopped paying into it. But if someone had a pension and also pd. into ss they get their 20 yrs plus the many years after that. That is so grossly unfair because if one only worked 20 years their ss is quite small, but it's theirs. If someone has a different kind of pension and continues to pay ss they have a very large ss retirement. Thanks Ronald Reagen you used to be my favorite president until I found out you started this mess.]

I've spoken with multiple people at my HR office as well as at Social Security to try to understand how these two rules would affect my spouse if something happens to me after I retire. I can't get a consistent answer from anyone. How can I plan for our retirement if I can't even get someone to tell me with certainty what our benefits will be?

Due to GPO Gov'the Pension Offset my wife will only receive a very small precentage of her Social Security that she and her employer paid into the SS System. My question is " Who gets the money she paid into the SS program the she loses because of GOP. This is totally UNFAIR. It's Her Money.

I worked different jobs for over 20 years, all paid into Social Security. I then worked 20 years for a Police Dept, (Civilian) paying into the PERS retirement system. I retired in 2008 and since then the SSA has increased deductions to my monthly SS amount paid to me. The amount they now withhold is approximately 50% of what I would have received. It's only fair that I should receive the same benefits as other workers. We worked hard and long to have a decent retirement check.

I have 15 years on Social Security and 16.5 years on PERS. I was not a high wage earner with either. Now, I only get a small amount from S.S. and my regular pension. So, what happens to my money I worked for, for 15 years? According to S.S. I would have gotten a much higher amount if I wasn't on PERS. My total retirement benefit should amount to the total of both S.S. and PERS since I paid into both about equally.

Please repeal the GPO and WEP. It's unfairness is so obvious. 1. This penalty does not exist in all 50 states. 2. Since I am not receiving a benefit for the money I was forced to contribute to SS during my non-teaching years, you can simply return my contributions. How arrogant to think you deserve to keep MY money. It really does defy logic.

I worked 20 years before becoming a teacher in 2001. No one told me my benefits would be substantially reduced. Then I find out all of the years I worked part time while raising my children do not meet substantial income requirement and therefore do not count. This definitely discriminates against working mothers who held part time jobs. This needs to be repealed
