I was convicted of not having a permit to export firearms when all I was doing was trying to legally ship a yacht owner's firearms to his vessel. They were his registered weapons for his licensed security detail and used for anti-piracy purposes. Nevertheless, I got caught with a felony. I was convicted of a felony(writing bad checks) in 1986 and was given probation, a fine and restitution. I satisfied my sentence with the court system over 20 years ago: I sent paperwork to the superior court clerk to have this felony expunged and I was denied. This is an outrage, I attended nursing school and graduated at the top of my class, yet I can not apply for my nursing liscense due to this felony charge. With Obama being in office I had hoped he would have some compassion for the millions of Americans that are in this same situation and have paid their dues to society and want to get on with their lives, without being punished for the rest of their lives for a crime that was paid for 20 years ago. In the state of Georgia its worse, this is suppose to be a bible belt state, but although God forgives us for the mistakes we make in life, the state of Georgia can not.REPORT COMMENTS
