My wife suffers from chronic pain and when she was put on narcotics by doctors she was treated like a drug addict because all she wanted was help to stop the pain and get off the narcotics they put here on. One doctor refused to even see her because of it. I thought doctors took an oath to do no harm?

Too many people living in chronic pain and without help and understanding from the Dr's they have trusted and pay to help them, even when there is so easy fix or ever going to be one. At least some kind of pain management. There is no quality of life.you without pain can not imagine.

Before I found my current doctor, it took me nearly four years of being close to bedridden and agoraphobic due to pain unlike any I even knew existed prior to developing this disease. I have a file 2 inches thick with non-narcotic treatments and no relief from the pain, yet doctors still look at me as if I were an addict, not because my disease doesn't warrant treatment with narcotic pain meds, but because the government has decided that the only way to control addiction is to keep these medications from the people who need them. I was suicidal and would have committed suicide due to the unrelenting nature of my pain, if I had not finally found a doctor willing to adequately treat the pain that kept me in bed and away from any quality of life for years. Please consider the lives that are lost, because of the government's interference in medical matters. Please consider the thousands of people who suffer in silence, because the government's actions have kept them from finding any relief from their pain. Look at the studies, especially the one's completed using the scientific method and not influenced by preconceived notions. Patients with documented conditions that cause chronic pain have a very low chance of becoming addicts. In fact, narcotics used to treat well documented cases of chronic pain has a lower incidence rate of addiction than the general public does. This is not to be confused with dependence. Dependence means the body has become used to a medication, and to stop the patient needs to be slowly weaned off the medication to keep from having withdrawal symptoms. Addiction is totally different from dependence. Please do not confuse the two in order to make your theory fit. Treating chronic pain patients with narcotics does NOT cause addiction in most patients. It gives chronic pain patients a chance at having some quality of life.

We are NOT "addicts", we are real people suffering from chronic pain issues and WE deserve to be treated with dignity and the respect that any other person is given. We didn't ask for this pain and shouldn't be forced to live our lives without the meds/Dr's assistance we need/deserve.

D.E.A is out of line. They are not doctors. People commit suicide due to chronic pain. We should not pay the sins of those who use drugs illegally for profit.

I agree with the above statements; there are many of us that are chronic pain sufferers, due to injury or illness. We are not addicts or 'drug-seekers'-we just want to be able to have some type of manageable lifestyle. We did not choose to be ill or to be in pain. Who is anyone, be it a doctor or a pharmacist, our needs and what helps us get through life? I do not like or want to be taking pain meds, but debilitating pain is just that-debilitating!

My son is legally disabled and his intractable chronic pain is not being treated beacuse the Doctors and Pharmacists afraid to treat him because the have the DEA, FDA, and local law enfocemet threatning them and they are afraid to treat chronic pain patients. We pray night that God is watching this all play out and pray every night that we can find a Doctor and Pharmacy to treat him.

Don't come to Florida if you are in pain. Fido needs to stay home to. You cannot get pain meds in Florida for you or your pet. The Florida general attorney, the FDA and DEA have doctors and Veterinarians so scared they are allowing people to suffer and pets to be put down rather then address pain issues. My dog may have to be put down is I can't find a way to get him pain meds. So sad.

Prohibition of Alchohol never worked just like this exspensive one. There are people like me who would like to have a life and be productive in society. I never asked for increase in my pain meds in three years because I wanted to protect Dr Cotton. She moved and life hell since. Treated like criminal and have had a label put on me now. People who need and use Opiods for pain are easy to tell from drug seekers who cheat. They need more and more to get high. We just want to control pain to have a life. Theres Mexican mafia now..they have numbers on head . I was told now 3xs herion in town. Great. And the only ones who can get help at methadone clinic are junkies. Was told I had to have abused or shot up to be allowed to get help. So Drs are given no rights we have no rights only the ones that are problems have rights. Why and when did I lose my personal rights? This is my body and I live and suffer in it and you don't. Its breaking down my brain and body fron Chronic pain. One Dr has the answers you need. Dr Alexander DeLuca. He doesn't believe patients should have no life and has the proof of how what it does to body. What it does to Drs. It costs so much to pay the DEA to police the medical field and resulting in loss of workers ect. I'm ashamed to see two people on the letter head from Montana. Its a travisty. Will you arrest me if I buy ciggaretts or alchohol or chocolate because it seems you think this is a luxury also to be able to function on Opiods and Drs can't be open with patients because they don't want to deal with DEA so they pretend they don't believe or see the truth of what's happening to us who really do need help and dont want to. We don't get high our bodies are not junkie bodies. More people die prob from NSAIDS which cause stomach bleeding. How many have given up n waiting to die how many turn to street. You as in Goverment now have no control of the real prob. Ignorance and uninformed of Chronic Pain pts. What are we to you? Nothing with no right to live a life and have a Doctor that can't practice medicine anymore. How many will not go into medicine now because he doesn't want to work for DEA? Well I know with how many eldely we have at this time that will need Doctors and will need pain med that works. Dont they deserve at least to die with dugnity and mobile before they die? My Grandmother was in so much pain..when I finally confronted Dr...I was told he didn't want her addicted. She only had couple years left and lived and died in pain. I hope you feel ashamed

The clinic in Missoula set the titrations level for UA everyone is kicked off Opiod med. Theres 3x herion w Mexican mafia in town now. My Dr moved and tried to help from down South. I never diverted my Methadone or Oxycodone. This new Dr I had didn't believe anyone should take. I fought looking for two months from bed to prove innocence. I finally got head Pathologist at Quest labs. He explained why it said neg. And only the oxy did but they took all away broke my pain contract..I never had one with them. I talked to Dr Edenbourough at Quest..he said to have them call and he would explain..they refused. Went to new Dr Internest. Lots of tests. Said let it go what they said

I have lupus that is slowly and painfully killimg me. The tacticts of the DEA have had devastating effects on my treatment. Federal and state laws state doctors are allowed to treat people like me with pain medicine yet the DEA breaks these laws by harassing pain doctors. Something must be done. People like me deserve some relief to improve the quality of what is left of our lives. We are not participating in illegal drug use. What is America, a police state that targets sick people? I do not cost the government one penney because of my illness. I am not on any kind of welfare. Why do this? For the money in fines? They are evil crooks on the take.

I personally have wanted to die after being denied pain meds & was treated like a pariah for asking for them. It's humiliating and it has made suicide seem like an easier option than finding someone to help ease my pain.
