At least offer chronic pain patients euthanasia like a veterinarian can do for pets & see if that stops the " drug addicts!" You and I both know the abusers will still be out there, but at least those of us legitimate people will be out of our misery.Thanks.

I have personally seen the suffering caused by patients not receiving proper care. Anyone who stands by while people are suffering is enabling the suffering. The politicians need to speak with the patients and their families to receive the truth. They are currently only receiving reports from the D.E.A. and other one sided organizations.

I live in KY and I am medically retired fromthe Federal government. I have been a chronic pain pt for over 10 years and now wwith new laws in KY I am unable to receive proper pain management. I swore my life to the USA and worked hard until I was ill. Now no one is willing to help and I and many others suffer in silence with no other option but death. This needs to be changed ASAP. We are not free anymore.

I've been reading these terrible stories and its so widespread. It breaks my heart. I was just examined by my spine surgeon who's tried for 3 years to help me be able to stand as straight as he could and walk. I can't walk bare foot anymore because of so much nerve damage. They feel like jello. swollen. I have to have a sandal, slipper, or my cane because my balance gets wacky and I start to fall to my right. I use to live and do so much. Now its bed, t.v, and clean up my home and then I'm in so much pain I can't do anymore. Its sad. He said I'm not healed yet nor fused. But my g.p. I see tomorrow is going to bully me, tell me I don't need the meds and I even try to negotiate less a day. But his answer is suboxone. That stuff should never have been ok'd by the FDA last year. Its aweful to get off of. If any doctor talks you into it don't take it. Their lieing when they say its not addicting. It hides pain too well. My G.P., kept me on it 3 years. I weened myself off and it was the worst thing I've ever been threw. Plus after 4 days thats when I felt my back pain. I didn't know I had a problem till I got off of the medicine. It hides pain. Pain is a bodys signal somethings wrong. If he wouldn't of kept me on it like he did I may have caught my back /spine messing up but maybe could have worn a brace to stop it from deforming so bad. The pain was a screaming pain. I had no idea this was happening to me. Since then I've been threw hell with my spine. all the metal in me now. I wonder if I'll ever be the same. I try to dance because I loved dancing. But I fall over. My spine will never be straight. I look anorexic. I lost 20 lbs.I'm so skinny now. I look terrible to me. But what does it matter anyways. My lifes over. Basicly just wait daily to die in pain. OTC's only help some. My pain meds worked to where I could function. But all of a sudden my Dr doesn't want me to take them. He wants me to try suboxone again. NEVER! He wont tell me whats in it. A pain Dr., did say its a narcotic. Yeah by the withdrawals i went threw I figured it out.The goverment needs to but out. Doctors need to be taught to respect. Also learn the difference between who's hurting and who's making up things. I've had doors shut on me so many times, asked for referrals and its always no. Why did these med's get invented? why sell cigarettes? why sell alcohol?Doesn't make sense. We aren't teens in trouble. Can't they tell the difference?I'm fed up. Now my G.P., says its illegal to get my muscle relaxant from my surgeon in Illinois because I live in Indiana. Is this true? Plus all I hear now to is I don't want to loose my license. Well follow the procedures and you won't idiots. Maybe its a government plot to eliminate the population since people are living longer. But theres not enough money or help for older people. So this is their way of killing us off. Pain will cause more harm in the body if not controlled. Eventually death. something to think about. wouldn't put it past them

I was unable to get pain meds after knee surgery with an RX written by my surgeon. Then after it was approved by my insurance, CVS refused to fill it until 4 more days, putting me into withdrawals in addition to my pain because the DEA only lets them fill 3 days before due, not a week like insurance companies. The DEA is overstepping their bounds and of course Eric Holder is letting them. I feel like I'm living in 1939 Germany. We have no rights, nor do our doctors. They are not stopping one thief nor the sale of one pill by hurting millions of people who need pain meds to get around and literally live. This Administration never thinks anything through or figures out the big picture. They are inept and unqualified to be in power. They are calling us "Collateral Damage." Sickening.

I have been in pain since 21 when doctor error resulted in my nearly dying and a year of mass growing on sciatic nerve. Then adding to this torment, in 2000 a surgery resulted in another infection and all the time, I am labeled drug addict, ignored because I did not seek doctor help until in unbearable pain so YES I AM DRUG SEEKING when I come into a ER crawling on the ground in tears! & Yes I am drug seeking when 30 years of Pain and suffering was finally gone when I found a Doctor who treated my documented chronic pain from numerous sources, & Yes, I am Drug seeking when I am forced to live on disability barely able to get out of bed and REMEMBER LIFE WHEN PAIN WAS CONTROLLED, & wonder how much longer I will be forced to live in this Torture while I lose everything because I can't function in Pain, yES i AM DRUG SEEKING BEGGING FOR SOMEONE TO END THIS TORTURE AND HELP ME. BUT INSTEAD i hide from the world to avoid stress and added pain AND would just love a doctor to look at my medical history before accusing me of fake Pain because I refuse steroid shots to my spine and all the Pain treatment left want those $1500 spine shots for the privledge of treating with pain medication. So when I finally give up I demand the DEA to be charged with MY death as the only choices left dying or LIve in Torture and only one thing keeps me from takiing the only way out that I have, & time is running out for MY life to be saved.

I was diagnosed with DDD, disk bulges, fibromyalgia, depression & more. I took so much Tylenol, Motrin & OTC pain medications over the years that my hair was falling out in clumps. My blood work shows signs of possible liver damage along with some unexplained hearing loss (I strongly suspect the OTC?s) This was all going on while I visited numerous chiropractors, acupuncturist, DO?s & trying to take care of my pain without opiates. The pain eventually became so bad that I gave up the natural route and looked for something stronger. This is when I found out how mind boggling it is to find help for chronic pain. Numerous doctors would tell me they wouldn?t prescribe any pain medications and many hadn't even asked me why I was in their office before shooting me down. (Does that make sense?) Some would pat me on the back & send me home with no medications saying not to worry you?ll be fine.? I?m pretty sure if they were on their knees vomiting from the intense pain & they're hair was falling out in clumps while losing their hearing & damaging their liver they'd be asking for something other than the OTC pain relievers. The doctors are scared to death to prescribe anything else and let you suffer for years. They'll also refer you to other doctors in order to get you out of their office without prescribing you anything. You accept the referrals with the belief that the Dr. is trying to help ( when many cases they?re just trying to get rid of you) and off you go on one of the most expensive and stressful searches of your life (THE SEARCH FOR PAIN RELIEF) and hundreds of expensive doctor visits that can land you in bankruptcy court as it did us. Your odds of winning the $600 million lottery is better than your odds of getting pain relief medications from almost every doctor in the US. If they?d helped me with the medications years ago my entire life would be different, our home would be paid for & life would be entirely different financially and lets not forget my physical and mental well being. My husband will retire in 15 years, he?s worked extremely hard all his life. He?s worked up to 80hours a week and we have nothing to show for it because of medical bills. Also be very careful of those that keep you in house with their referrals too. They?ll make a killing off you as you continue to bounce around to each Dr. in their system. Then you?ll eventually realize nobody?s going to help you so you eventually go back to the original doctor that sent you on the road to nowhere and they look at you and say I'm sorry you've been doctor shopping/hopping to get meds so I refuse to help you now. And of course nobody has given you a prescription during any of these visits. Oh I almost forgot to mention my ER trip. I told the Dr. I was in so much pain that I wanted to end my life. He sent me to the Mental ward (of course with no pain meds) and the Psych Dr. released me within 4 hours saying ?your not crazy your in pain? and once again no

I hear about all the drug abuse on the streets way to much. These pain management doctors do not want to proscribe drugs because they are so afraid of the government on there backs. They make me sicker than I am.Between the doctors and the government, they make it so that you have to go to the streets to get any help controlling your pain. I say if they can't do the job that they took an oath to do, they need to find another line of work and stop wasting our time and money. And the government should just come to our homes and put a bullet in our heads. Then we can be pain free and they won't have to worry about overdose. Dumb asses. Pain kills more than the drugs do.

I was in a near fatal motorcycle accident back in April of 2009. A priest, who we think was drunk at the time, had turned in front of me at the last second causing me to hit his car on the front passenger side. I was thrown from my bike, hit my handlebars then hit his windshield before being launched 40 feet away onto the street. I broke my left clavicle, had an open book break to my pelvis, tore my aorta, had my right testicle pushed up into my right abdomen plus dozens of internal injuries. I now have a rod for a clavicle and 7 pins that hold my pelvis together, mesh to replace the torn part of my aorta and had to have my right testicle removed from my abdomen and placed back to its proper place. I suffer daily from constant and at times excruciating chronic pain from this accident in which it was not my fault. I have had every injection you can get, acupuncture, TENS stimulator, etc. The only thing that comes close to relieving the pain and giving me some sort of quality of life is opiate pain medication which just about every doctor is unwilling to write due to the strict restrictions from the DEA! I was unaware that the employees of the DEA were licensed medical doctors and all have doctorate degrees. I find it not only disgusting at how they target legitimate doctors but I find that it also violates so many rights! What about my right to live a normal life! I don't understand how the government can tell us what we can and cannot take for our health. We are all adults with the capacity to make decisions on what we can and want to put into our bodies. In other countries the doctors don't write prescriptions, they give you a diagnosis but you can go to the pharmacy and ask for what you need and get it, all without a prescription. Those other countries treat you like an adult and let you make your own decision on what you need to take for your own health and wellbeing. It's sad that the media overstates and demonizes opiate medication. I have read article after article from Dr's that state that the numbers are artificially inflated to try and create a panic. We as legitimate pain patients deserve the right to our medications without being labeled addicts and druggies. If you think about all the other things we are addicted to...water, air, food! It won't be long before those are deemed illegal and harmful as well. I think I can safely speak for everyone else who is in this same position that we deserve a life with diminished pain by being prescribed the opiate medication that makes that kind of life possible. One last thing I would like to state is that after reading a ton of articles on opiate pain medication there is no "ceiling" to how much medication you can take. Meaning that you can safely keep on upping the milligrams without overdosing. It's not something that you do overnight but over time you can safely increase doseages without fear of overdose. Most overdoses occur from the mixing of opiates with other medications, drugs and

I have had to watch someone close to me suffer pain daily that could have been eased with adequate pain control. Instead I am watching a transplant patient in relentless pain dreaming for a day that she may be able to have this organ removed...knowing it may never happen because she doesnt have the money to afford what insurance doesnt pay for. Whats worse is that medication prescribed for a wrong diagnosis led to the failure of her organ, and now its a gamble if cancer will follow, or if she will have remedy in time. The most dishearting..is the undertreatment of her pain, the skyrocketing blood pressure readings, and the lack of concern overall by those who could make a difference. I am sure if she were a dog, or a beloved pet of any kind thier would be more compassion. It hurts more than just the patient...it affects all the rest of us who have to witness the agony.

just one more thing. The G.P., I have been seeing since 2009 when all this mess happened is Donald Dunevant. Works at Porter Hospital in Portage, Indiana and his very mean nurse who also treats me like crap is Terry. The Pain clinic in Rush Chicago also treated me terrible, 1st looked at my back and said couldnt help me. Bull. Prescriptions don't make him money. Shoved me out the door. So dissapointed my husband and I. For years my surgeon and nurse have been trying to get us to come to there clinic. Because Dr. Dunevant and his nurse abuse me verbally. Lie to me. Try scare tactics. Even the pharmacists in Portage Indiana at CVS, and Walgreens, and Walmart treat you like crap and talk down to you. Its not my fault this happened to me. A Dr. didnt tell me I had a problem back in 2002. It started affecting me physiccly and emotionally in 2008. Had to quit work. Put on disability. My life is staying home for 4 years. Its enough to drive anyone nuts. And you change the laws to make us feel worse. I wish I could sue each and every one of you. Now you have made my life even worse. Thanks.

I'm 52 now. August I had the thoracic part of my sine caged, rodded both sides and screws all along discs. #rd surgery. So now I have screws popping out from my skin on my hips to stabilize my spine because the 1st fusion failed. My L-5 exploded(nurse thinks it happened while in the hospital)because I was having leg pain. I ended up with my spine tipping over with the metal and I was stuck bent in half for 9 months. It caused havoc on my body and health. I passed out at least 20 or more times and fell any where. Mostly happened in the bathroom, out of bed probably because I couldn't lay down so I had to stack about 6 pillows up to where I could lean over comfortably to sleep but ended up falling out of bed hitting my floor. So had to sleep on the floor surrounded by pillows to add support and comfort. No one believed anything was wrong. Accused me of drug seeking every time I went for help. Thrown out of pain clinics because I wouldn't allow them to use me as a guinea pig, My original surgeon on the 5th day in the hospital suddenly said he wasn't going to give me any aftercare, I was fine and sent me home. With 2 weeks medicine. I called daily begging for help and he kept refusing. He finally did a x-ray and said I was fine, had no pain, wasn't giving me medicine and sent me on my way. Finally I ended up at Rush in Chicago and meet one of the most kind hearted, professional but sense of humor because that's important to me. He looked at the MRI I brought in and saw immediately what was wrong and knew he had a job ahead of him. 2 more redone fusions from my hips to my mid back he got me to be able to stand straight. They treated me like a person who needed help and not a pill seeker. But my thoracic started bending over so had no choice but to also fuse that to. So I'm full of metal. But also in horrible pain in the middle of my back. I just saw my surgeon and where I'm hurting theres a caged area where it was bending. He said its not healed yet and hasn't even started to fuse. So he wants me in pool therapy. His hopes are I do ween some day from my pain meds but never pushes it. He knows I'm hurting. He's the only one who will give me Soma for the muscle pain. My G.P., use to give me percocet for break threw' kadian twice a day for long term pain and muscle relaxant for muscle pain. After this surgery in August which was absolute hell and the most painful surgery I've ever had. I wished to die daily. I even asked them why they didn't kill me during surgery because it was awful.10 times worse than child birth and I had natural. But all of a sudden he refuses to give me Soma or any relaxant. He says I don't need it. He's so stupid because the other 2 alone don't take care of the pain. Its when the muscle relaxant is added then I finally have the edge taken off so I can get up and function. He doesn't believe me. Screams at me almost every visit, makes me cry, calls me an addict. It blows my mind. If he felt what I do every single day 24-7, never goe

The US governments attacks on innocent chronic pain victims and their doctors is a crime against humanity - the US seems to be starting a new eugenics movement - weed out the weak and the sick - the final solution and its here and now - how many innocent lives will be destroyed so useless government agencies can show they are doing "something"? - At least a torture victims pain stops when its over! The denial of treatment to those in pain is a Crime and it MUST STOP NOW!!!!

Why should chronic pain people who live with pain suffer because drug addicts want to ruin their own lives? Why should we have to pay for drug users choices and suffer? Let the drug users have their drugs and help those of us that NEED medication to function. Drug users will get drugs any way they can while those of us in pain can barely function. Doctors should remember their Hypocratic Oath and help pain patients, rather than lump us in with drug seekers. It's become an epidemic of ignorance and any society that is more concerned with drug seekers than with people in tremendous pain is creating an inhumane society.

When someone dies or overdoses from pain pills its because they abuse the drug by taking large quantities at once or mixing with other drugs. thats their own fault and I should not have to suffer for their stupidity. Also, the DEA should not have aqny jurisdiction to any pain clinic, not only is it unconstitutional but its imoral. If people want to do pain pills then let them; for whatever reason!!! And if you disagree with that then too bad, its none of your business anyway. I just cant understand how people allow McDonalds and Burger King to continue selling extremely fattning and unhealthy foods but the public is not allowed Opiates; completly natural and totally healthy for you Opiates. It seems to me the goverment wants to hold us back from being a success with the use of opiates. The goverment and the DEA started this war on drugs and its killing America, this country was founded on freedom and they are taking our freedom away by making drugs illegal. I dont care how bed the drug is, our gov needs to stop this war on drugs now. Please pray with me that ALL drugs become legal!! Not just pot but ALL drugs, quite simply because its a violation of our rights as Americans to have the freedom to choose what we consume. It's not right with the DEA are doing by withholding pain medications. Why are there quota? They are not GOD they do not know how many people will get sick or hurt. Patients should not have to suffer without medications. This will not fix the problems. This is against our Constitutional Rights and needs to be addressed immediately!!!!!! The DEA created this problem in my opinion they let these fast cash doctors open their doors. They let them order meds to the office. Now the legitiment patients are the ones paying for it with needless suffering. This crap makes me so mad I have to deal with what I was delt. I have no choice in the matter. Yet I have no choice on having medications avaible. Pain management needs to change for the better of the patient.

Anyway since Aug. 2013 I have been seeing this pain med doctor and from day one he has been crying I'm on two high a dose and threatens to cut my dose. I have 3 crushed discs in my neck with stenosis and other problems leaving me suffering from headaches. Also I have had two major back surgeries that never helped. I now have 4 broken screws and now am suffering from segment disease Also I have had both hips replaced with one revision and I'm facing another hip revision. I get maybe 2 hours sleep per night and suffer extremely every day I life. I was taking 9 10 mg of methadone for the past 20 years with never asking for an increase. Recently my pain doctor has been crying about me on taking to0 high a dose and I most be reduced to 4 pills a day. The reason I go to these doctors is to have a better grade of life. I have read the federal government (DEA) has been putting on the pressure against pain meds. I understand their are many abusers and dealers and something needs to be done. However there are thousands of people who suffer REAL pain just as I do. I say let the politicians try one day in my shoes, just one day...

"CONFIRMED: The DEA Struck A Deal With Mexico's Most Notorious Drug Cartel" (business insider news article dated Jan 14, 2014.) So the DEA is helping supply Heroin & Cocaine to junkies? Great. Guess it's ok for the DEA to let a Mexican Drug Cartel smuggle & supply 80% of Chicago's illegal Heroin & Cocaine to drug addicts, but Chronic Pain Patients, nursing home patients & many dying cancer patients can't get their legitimately prescribed pain medicine? This is an outrage! You can be sure the DEA is involved in hundreds more illegal drug deals than this one! Reform for legitimate patients to receive pain management care from their doctors, & get their Rx's filled by pharmacists, is needed immediately. Quit targeting Doctors, Pharmacists & people in pain!
