I hurt my back while working for the TSA immediately following 9-11. We had no machinery to screen luggage, and had to hand lift it 10 hours per day six days per week. I am now 59 and disabled. I TOOK my medication as maintenance medication to have some quality of life. I have been pushed into the one size fits all mentality that was only meant to punish not help those vulnerable with serious injury. I have been in pain management many years just to have a quality of life. Now Dr's are refusing to administer out of fear of the DEA. I can only wish the same pain and suffering on those that have enacted and enforce these truly punishing laws. I too have given up and have quit taking my blood pressure medicine. I would rather have no life than no quality of life. If i had the choice again, I would not have given up my physical health for the US Govt. -

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus and have no quality of life. Suicide is constantly on my mind. I can't do things with my 6 year old son or my husband. I feel like I'm a prisoner in my own body, and just a shell of the vibrant, happy, energetic woman I once was. Without being prescribed pain medication to make my life bearable, I feel like I'm just a drain on my husband and a waste of space. I just want some pain relief. I'd do anything to feel pain free.REPORT COMMENTS

Well, I signed, petition had all I know sign. After 6+ years with same Dr., I was sent to a Dr . that only prescribes medication. After being on same medication for years this pill doctor factory just stopped me cold turkey, per receptionist I won't have withdrawal after only 2 months, I told reception that it's been years. They sent me away to go through withdrawals alone. Being afraid to go through this without a Dr I went back to the Dr. who's been treating me since 05 or 08, he literally laughed at me. Stated he won't help due to "tired of being watched" I assume he's speaking of "big brother" So I go through withdrawals alone- I'm afraid of the seizures, more afraid I have no medical professional to help and guide me through this, which reading and per 2 pharmacists, due to length of time I've taken this Med which is a schedule 3 not 2. I'm alone. Again. I'm a guinea pig, again. The original doctor. is interested in only money, he overcharges me due to a cash acct only for medical, others paying cash 95.00, me 200-300 - ya just a tad of overcharging he has no nurse no after hour emergency help, no one on call. He refuses to give a refill at any time, he's going on vacation and is telling everyone to make your prescription last until I return, that's not ok. I myself won't be in town when he returns. I receive a medication from him still, and he sent me to a pill house, so I go to 2 Dr's a month not to mention va Dr's for disabled veteran (spouse)Another Med to cold turkey- this one is dangerous to stop so is first. I've never been through withdrawals so I wouldn't know a comparison. Lastly, the original Driving. Is the cause of my back injury, I was seeing him for neck injury failed surgeries etc. I never sought an attorney, I thought Dr.'s were true to their oath. I was sadly mistaken. I WISH this petition had done something. Fear pain and panic make desperate people do very stupid things. I'm guessing it's what the DEA CDC and ? Had in mind. " Hopefully you can try again? There are too many of us killing them selves to get some type of relief from 24/7 pain- the people making these rules should be those who've suffered from horrible pain for years. Maybe that's the answer? There's got to be something we can do? I'm all ears. Thank you - wish me luck, I'm truly a d, and no one to help, pardon- refusal to help. Oh and worse than withdrawals is the pain- they took away the only thing that has prevented me from just ending it, no one can live like this, and it's NOT living- it's going through the motions for as long as you can with one thing on your mind all day every day, how bad my pain is.REPORT COMMENTS

These heartless pigs have no right to do this to people! I have been taking Morphine for almost 17 years responsibly! Yet, I have been treated as if I am a Heroin addict! It all started in 1999. I was a talented carpenter with a promising future and while working, I fell from a ladder and seriously injured my neck and back, as well as, tore muscles from the bone and a tendon ripped in half. Since then, I have had to have an experimental back surgery at the University of Michigan in 2002 and I also had Neck surgery in 2007. I have also developed degenerative disk disease throughout my spine. I cannot even hold my head up at night, because, my neckhurts so bad! Even with high doses of pain medicine, I am still in some pain; however, without the Morphine, I am doomed! Since being injured, I have endured much discrimination! Over and over! Now my doctor has cut my Morphine by 90 mg per day in half without any regard for my health; which is what they claim to be trying to help! It is so outrageous that the CDC thinks that they can get away with this! Lets fight! I am a citizen too! I guarantee if it was one of those government goons living with chronic pain, they would get their medicine without any hassle what so ever! Besides, what the hell have we been enduring all the discrimination with the probation style persecution called a pain contract for ? It's bad enough that I am treated like a second class citizen and if that were not true, then all of society would be taking random drug tests! Enough already! Lets join force and let our government know that we are not going to take this! Sincerely, Andrew MorrenREPORT COMMENTS

No, CancelDec 13th, 2016Nancy T. from Yukon, OK writes:
If you know what the word arachnoiditis means, then you've either been touched by it or you're very close to someone who has. Has nothing to do with spiders but it has something to do with the failure of back surgeries multiple epidural steroid injections CT myelograms and anything invasive into the spinal canal. I myself have had over 30 ESI to control pain, to no avail. So then I had 4 back surgeries. All of them they called failed after a brief period of being helpful. So then they started with the CT myelograms which is putting dye in your veins and then doing a CT. When was consistent pain continuing my doctor suggested I have an internal stimulator put in for pain it's kind of like a TENS unit implanted. I have this and it takes away maybe 7 to 10% of pain but nowhere near what they promised which was I would be off of pain medication because it was so great. Every 4 or 5 years I have to replace the battery so that means another surgery. This will never be over for me I live with pain and nerve damage from the transvaginal mesh that was placed inside of me and then taken out and has created the nerves in my abdominal and front thighs to burn all the time. I've been in physical therapy, I've tried every single thing my doctors have asked up to the point where my neurosurgeon finally told me right before he retired. " Nancy I want you to look up this word arachnoiditis. Please don't panic it's going to sound terrible and like you would want to give up but don't. We can help you with medications and you will have to be on them for the rest of your life." When I asked him how I got this he simply said, " we as a medical profession gave this to you. It wasn't our intent when are knowledge started to exist that this could happened to many others Dr's continued to do these procedures without letting the patient to know what the results could be. Even a woman having an epidural for childbirth can get arachnoiditis. I am sorry now that I'm retiring I'm going to hand you off to a doctor that will help you." At this point I had no idea what I was about to read but I sit in my room and cried for 4 hours inmate records he had known this for about 3 years and never told me never gave me a chance to understand what my life would be looking like in the future. He knew all about arachnoiditis he understood it well. But the doctor that he sent me to is fresh out of school. And in his words will learn about it together. That's hardly good care. I do my research I send articles to my Dr I do more teaching than he does. I'm happy that he hasn't tried to cut me off of all medication but the medications I've been on have been for over 10 years and they need to be changed. And he is too afraid to catch the eye of the CDC and the DEA that he won't change it to something I need but if he doesn't want to get looked upon, he says. The threatening atmosphere that the CDC is laid upon our physicians have tied their hands to do their job individually with each patient. I didn't ask for this disease I trusted the doctors that cared for me to do what was right for me and if there were going to be side effects I deserved to be able to make that decision for myself. I was not given that opportunity. I'm asking to be treated as an individual patient I've never done drugs street drugs I wouldn't know heroin if you showed it to me. But I know people who have stopped there medications because of doctors weining them off or directly stopping it, that turned to street drugs and have now died Andover Park love you calculations. But you don't know why. And I'm here to tell you as a pain patient never in my wildest dreams did I think I would do the same but to be honest if someone yanked me off of everything when I'm barely functioning now I can't say what I would do. And then I would just be your statistic as well. And you would never know again. Please do not treat legitimate pain patients as if they are drug addicts. I am writing this as I'm laying in bed, because I'm having a bad day. And even with medications all the creams and sprays and homeopathic oils. Anything anybody will tell me helps, I try. The with the threat of having my medications taken away or not increased when they need to be it's so hard to live like this I've never really sat down and wrote a letter and ask someone to help me I've always been very independent I have a masters in social work I can't even use. Please please look at me as an individual I'm not on the streets. I don't shoot drugs in my eye. I don't sell my drugs to others. I have arachnoiditis and I'm in pain. Thank you, Nancy Tripp OklahomaREPORT COMMENTS

I know I was doing just fine on oxycodone for 14yrs. My Dr was retiring, so I had to get a new one. On my 1st visit, I was given the standard pee cup and after which I was given a pain contract to sign, which was no problem. The next month I go to my appt, but my Dr had her baby and my scripts were at the front desk for me. I wondered if they needed a urine test, they said not this month. The next month I go to my appt and when I get there, I'm told sorry, but we can't treat you anymore. Iasked why not? They told me that I didn't have any oxycodone in my system, but I tested positive for meth. I told them that was impossible and I wanted them to retest the 1st test. They didn't have it,because they didn't have room to store all of them. I tried to explain that to test for Oxycodone or Oxycontin, they're actually the same thing, they had to run a special test because it doesn't show up in a regular opiates test. They wouldn't listen at all. Luckily my regular Dr was still coming in 1 day a week. I made an appt, we've always had a good relationship, so when I explained my dilemma, he immediately sent her an email stating that I was correct in the fact she had to request a special Oxycontin level. I was in the process of having the RFNA, now that it's been completed, I hurt more than I ever have, plus I have also fallen several times. That never happened before, and my pain pills have been cut so low they don't even really help,,but I do know one thing. If we all got together and filed a class action lawsuit against the CDC, FDA, and whoever else is behind this, I'll bet it would settle out of court and we'd get our pain meds back. I know something needs to be done because I can't live in this kind of pain and I WILL NOT LET THEM DO ANY MORE INVASIVE PROCEDURES, NOR WILL I BE. Went to Pain Management Doctor on referral of Primary Doctor. Was give some meds but not enough to stop the pain but enough to ease the back , hip and knee pain to get through the day, but here comes night and trying to sleep. Well the break through pain had me taking an extra pill to see if sleep would come. Which did not, so I was running on 2 to 3 hours sleep every day for about 10 years, I was working full time all this time. Then the injections began. The most relief was for about 8 months with my meds. I ask for a small increase in the meds which did not happen. Now I have friends with same symptoms who receive 3 times the amount of medication I was receiving, their Doctor was not getting any letters or threats from the Gov. and they were living a well rounded and full life. WHAT GIVES? Why can some PMD's write for dosages to cover all day and night and others only write for 2 to 4 pills for 24 hours or the Big Gov. will revoke their licenses. So, my husband suggested we try another PMD, he cut the meds even more, and since I had just received an injection and my meds, I received a stike on my first visit. I had turned in my prescription from my first PMD since he gave it to me at time of injection and they said it would be couple of weeks before pick up which I understood. Then when new PMD wrote a prescription I dropped it off at a pharmacy a co-work recommend because of lower cost,so guess what , now I am pharmacy shopping. The pharmacist called the doctors and even referred my primary doctor as a PMD , so now I am doctor shopping. I have always gotten my scripts and turned them in on my way home and waited until time was due to pick up. My old pharmacy would always text or call saying time to pick up. just so happens the day I tried the new pharmacy, my old pharmacy call and said it was time to pick up. The new pharmacy saw where I had just picked up the old prescription and reported me to all three of the doctors. The one I was leaving , the new one I went to see for consult and my primary doctor which has never written a narcotic for me. So Mr. pharmacist did not ask questions of how this happened he just decided I was a shopper. now I can not receive any opiates for pain, but I can get INJECTIONS. Next one coming up would be number 12 I believe. The extra prescription was given because I was hit in a car wreck totaling my car and my prescription was not found per the dealership I called and ask them to look for them. Yet the best thing of all was when I went in I was looking at my chart and someone had penciled in "Boy is she a good actress". Could that be slander?REPORT COMMENTS

Im a person who followed the rules never asked for more even though I need more , but never double dipped , so for my honesty . The FDA/ DEA steps in and decides to play God on us by cutting opioids to those who need them . I have a spinal cord herniated discs and Psoriatic Arthritis and broke my foot and have Hammer-toe . Im dying of End Stage Renal disease , Im on dialysis 3 txs a week / 4 hours a day . This treatment not only aches my body but get bad cramps . Since I have the spinal problems , Ive been on various pain meds but oxycodone works good . My Doctor instead of informing us months ahead , they waited till the last month an are cutting me down a third of what Im taking in just 2 months and who knows after that . Being on dialysis it takes all my meds out of my body , I cant take Napxason for swelling or pain or drink alcohol . This total BS . They say too many people are dying from Ods and it leds to heroin another BS . I will sign a form saying its my body , if I die on them its on me but they just say you sound like a addict which is a way to switch the story around to discredit you . There is Vets coming home in chronic pain and it seems the Dea rather cover their behinds than take facts from real facts from patients who pay their wage .REPORT COMMENTS

I want to tell you what. when you help me and thousands of others with health issues then you might have some say in treatment. thing is, you aren't the doctor. you just assume things. life isn't how you see things. Ive take pain meds for some time and WHY! because I cant run out and get surgeries. Thank goodness back then it was something after days would heal.. first off, I cannot take anything over the counter. Ive tried it all.. and why? I have the worse kind of restless leg I had since my early twenties. as I aged it got worse. I did however found that tramadol would knock this in an instant. then you try making it a controlled substants as well. anything you see people taking you want to take it out. even hydrocone aggravates my legs to a degree, the tramadol stops it. I taken these for years with no problem. I gone without for days of the codone and take the tramadol at night if my legs starts in. this had gotten so ridiculous. this should be the users business..not letting those to kill themselves be my problem. if they kill others and themselves then its the fault of whose not checking their system at work, since this seems to be also job related. you want to rob people of having alittle quality of life when all else fails. even those who fought the war for you and came back in pieces. so you did a study to say how the pain meds not doing a person any good. now isn't that up to that person taking it, not you. I have taken hydrocodone the last few years waiting to get disability of my own or through my husband before I was 65. so I could get surgery on my back which I have a fractured vertebra and no ins. nor money to get it. but guess what.. I was told I don't qualify for the disability nor on my husbands.. see how it works,, you take from us but nothing in return, right! yeah right. well all I could do is wait til I was 65 which is dec,25th. I was so happy to finally get something but no matter what. we still suffer. what do you do when a person has open heart surgery? after the surgery you give them an asprin, lololol..awe to funny. what I hate is after I had surgery I would not be able to get pain medication I need because of you people. are you in such perfect health you never need it or do you actually get it and no one knows it. somethings up. I voted for Trump and I sure hope and pray he nips this crap right in the butt..whats scary is... this is just one example. whats next you want to take out. so far youre getting your way of killing those in bad health. I already thought this might be whats going on. if you don't mind us dying then why do you care if those dye of drug overdose. they aren't your family. so don't mind everyones business. go bake a cake or something. get a life and stay out of ours...REPORT COMMENTS

For twenty years I have been taking the same does of a painkiller that allowed me to function normally and not be bedridden or too exhausted from pain to work. Now I am treated like a drug addict for the same low dose and it has been cut in half. The fatigue and disability are returning. Why are government guild lines so cruel to those of us in pain because of abusers and accidental overdoses? There is responsible pain management or the cruelty of letting people like me suffer needlessly. This new policy is costing my insurance company a monthly fee for a doctor visit . Stop putting doctors in fear of treating their patients.REPORT COMMENTS

I stand with the rest of these folks. We are normal law abiding citizens and follow the rule of law. I'm a veteran and also my grandfather, father, and two uncles. I live in great pain everyday and my doctor would rather harass me into volunteering to giving up my pain medication than increase it to what I need. I refused only to **** him off as he stated he could loose his license to practice. How lam for people that took an oath to heal no matter what! By the way, my family has more integrity than the DEA, with 54 years service between 5 of us.REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from chronic pain and can NO find a doctor who will treat me. I was given TRAMADOL which causes me to fearful, paranoid and a dreadful sense of foreboding thoughts. I told my PCP yhat I have suicidal tendencies because I already am depressed (which I take an antidepressant). And then he prescribed it at my next visit. My entire holidays are ruined because of PAIN and now HORRIBLE THOUGHTS as a side effect. What happened to QUALITY OF LIFE??? The doctors do NOT care if their patients suffer - ultimately it comes down to the almighty dollar. I am 61 years old, live alone and I CANNOT TAKE MUCH MORE. What's the point? Suicide is my only option. The DEA needs to back the hell off and doctors need to stop being cowards and do what they were trained to do. Before the DEA stuck their nose in and labeling everyone who needs medicine, a drug addict. When I took narcotic pain relievers, not once did I abuse it, nor did NOT run out before my next script - I HAD to make sure it lasted until my next script because of horrible chronic pain. ALL MY PHARMACY ARE IN THE DATABASE, WHICH ALL DOCTORS HAVE ACCESS TO. I sit here right now and want to stick a knife through my carotid artery. My life has become a nightmare. Dr Carson (in Elyria, Ohio) dropped me AFTER PRESCRIBING PAIN MEDS FOR ALMOST FIVE YEARS , because he saw me as a liability, instead of his patient. He ABSOLUTELY KNEW THAT I DID NOT ABUSE MY MEDS. I had to stop cold turkey because I couldn't find a doctor who would treat me. I am dirt poor and all the stress of trying to make ends meet and the pain on top of that makes suicide look like the only option. Also, I know someone who suffered chronic pain, he started getting pain meds off the street, but the high cost made him want to give up, but instead he moved to another state and became a HERION ADDICT - I am disgusted with the doctors -they don't care!REPORT COMMENTS

I was a very busy functioning person, involved in church, with my family, working full time and then in my 30s I had endometriosis and fibromyalgia. I had no idea why my back and other areas chronically hurt. Eventually, I was no longer able to work, missed weddings, funerals, Christmases and other family and church events. I do not choose to take pain medications because I am addicted, or want to have a high", but because without them I would be a shell of myself, unable to cope with the pain of a 2 HR car ride to visit family or attend an event. IT IS A TRAVESTY THAT THE DEA IS TARGETING PATIENTS IN PAIN RATHER THAN THE ACTUAL DRUG ABUSERS! THEY ARE RUINING MY LIFE! It almost seems like it would be less of a problem to find drugs on the streets if they continue to ruin the lives on patients who truly suffer from pain, I think the repercussions will be horrible. Life can be agonizing enough. We don't need the DEA overstepping their bounds and ruining the lives of those who are already suffering immensely from the pain of their disease!REPORT COMMENTS

I wish I could have every one of the ppl that are on the bandwagon of how bad pain meds are, walk in my shoes one hour.....you would take your own life, trust me! I have "the worst spinal stenosis MRI, Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, I could go on but the pain is the issue!!! SOME OF US NEED THEM!!!! I think it's interesting when the congressman had a child with cancer and found that pot helped her....he was all for legalisation then...before that he was a church going, judgemental fool. Yeah...it's different when it hits home or you walk in my shoes...isn't it???? Try it! The government created this problem when they decided they know what treatments you need more than your doctor. Let the doctors do their job and get out of the healthcare industry. I think they DID go to school alot longer than you!!REPORT COMMENTS
