Pain Patients are NOT criminals by operation of seeking, help for chronic pain. Doctors and patients should be FREE in USA to CHOOSE the modality they feel fits them without fear of reprisal or being labeled simply because they are prescribed or the prescriber of narcotic pain relief. I vote and this issue is on the forefront of my concerns when selecting candidates.

It seems as though drug addicts are the only clientele getting any medication to try to "HELP" them get over their addiction, meanwhile it's just another "COCKTAIL" to ease the pain of all the other crap their taking,!!!!, my brother was in recovery about (30) years and said it best," YOU TAKE METHODONE TO GET OFF HEROIN, BUT YOU CAN'T BE ON THAT FOR (20) YEARS",!!!!, Any substance can be abused, if you're a kid on a sugar high, you'll crash and be cranky when you come down, when you drink alcohol, you feel no pain, happy, euphoric, but the next day, hung-over, listless, tired, depressed and any street drug you add to that cocktail prolongs both feelings, the "UP" and "DOWN" that's why we get addicted, we don't want that "UP" feeling to end. I am a strong believer that the body has the natural ability to heal itself, but when diagnosed with a massive blood clot, complicated by back pain, "CHRONIC OR NOT", it hurts, I can barely get out of bed, without pain meds, I can't get out of bed, nor do I want to,!!!, Doctors study medicine and practice on patients but "EVERY BODY IS DIFFERENT" and there are tests that can help prove how much pain can be tolerated,!!!, and I am a personality that can tolerate pain, but I am depleted at this point, until there is proper treatment, I need the proper medication, plain and simple....and if you want to get well, you will,!!!, is a good mantra, "ABUSE, ADDICTION, CORRUPTION, and the "FEEL GOOD" factor are all human conditions that have always and will always exist, the trick is how to handle it. I don't do anything anymore that may alter or prolong my "RECOVERY" I'm F'IN Parochial at this point as my pain is consuming me ,!!!, and I need all the "MEDICAL" help I can get otherwise I might jump on that band wagon of "BS" and not care anymore,!!!!!

I am a victim of this absurd concept. Education of healers in America must be OVERHAULED, and reconstructed to relflect world wide facts, treatments and diagnosis. America now stands way behind the ENTIRE WORLD, having suffered from years of arrogance, and lack of or no research to support most currently held medical "facts" ( which change daily as real research slowly trickles in) Compassion is the key here, over regluation for the sake of GREED on the part of ALL MEDICAL providers involved, MUST BE STOPPED., Pain control, ancient effective medications, homeopathy (now considered much more realistic and effective that the slash and dash medical treatment we now "enjoy", and deregulation and legalizing medications. must start NOW. Government, pharmas, huge corps are causing untold suffering and premature deaths, directly and indirectly, most victims dont have the energy left to complain or inform you of this torture. Illegal drug abuse, and illegal prescription use will continue to run rampant until TRUTH, and TRUST are restored to the people you represent. Quit the infighting in congress, get off your butts and get to work. At this point, you will be historically known as the most ineffective, careless, selfish government in history. Unless changes are made, you will be remembered as murders, not heros.

I've been suffering from debilitating pain caused by calcification of the Achilles tendons in both feet for two years. The strongest medication that anyone will prescribe to me is Relafen, which is only effective on the infrequent days that my pain is only at a 5 or 6 instead of the usual 8 or 9. My workplace would cover a surgical procedure. But surgery would mean not having a paycheck for six to twelve months. Since AFLAC calls this calcification a preexisting condition they will not cover any bills (mortgage, car, utilities, etc.) so I must work in order to keep a roof over my head. I stand during my job, which means that the pain is severe most of the day. I can no longer exercise. As a result the fifty extra pounds I've gained in the process is only worsening the issue. I'm not a criminal and I'm not an addict. I deserve to be treated with dignity. I AM IN PAIN AND IT IS RUINING MY LIFE. Please help me.

I would never nor have I ever sought for relive of pain outside of my doctor but I can tell you that I have a doctor right now that is questioning that I even have pain after my MRI and CT scans show differently. It is demeaning to be treated the way alot of chronic pain patients are and all because a certain amount of the population wants to get high and those are the ones who have NO trouble getting the stuff. In nursing school they taught us that keeping our patient comfortable and reasonably pain free was a number one priority but it is not what is practiced.

There really is so much wrong here. First, had I not been lol'd upon for the past 20 yrs and told "its very rare to contract 'Lyme' in Oklahoma"... even though the states leading IM physician diagnosed it THEN, well I might not be in such poor physical health today at 41! 20 years of begging to go on a simple antibiotic treatment plan...but noooo. They were just as afraid ofdoxycycline & tetracycline as they are a narcotic. Oh..but its a great thing to legalize such pot and alcohol that render ppl literal zombies. Ugh. I am now partially bald. Hair falling out. I have huge blisters ON my entire eyeball (s) I am so arthritic I can't lift my 2 yr old grandbaby anymore. I could go on...but alas, mind isn't very clear these days and I tire too quickly so I must take a reprieve from any kind of real thought. I will go out of this life knowing I am glorified in His righteousness. Will these docs who took that oath and are failing us...as well as the dictators pushing ppl over the edge just to breathe life into the illegal street transactions like it was a decade ago

I am a physician. My personal and professional life was destroyed by the Oregon Medical Board for simply treating chronic pain patients. I did nothing wrong. I will never treat another patient in this state again regardless of my medical license status in this state. If the citizens of this state do not rise up and support the civil rights of the physicians who do this work then there will only be even less physicians available. There is only persecution from the authorities, specifically the employees of the Oregon Medical Board, including those politically appointed, for doing the much needed humane work of chronic pain management. Chronic pain providers and chronic pain patients are easy political targets for bureaucratic tyrants seeking to further their own power and to justify their useless positions.

Chronic pain is a medical condition that thousands of people suffer from in this country. The definition of chronic pain is pain that is constant and does not go away.Like diabetes or hypertension for the majority of these people there is no cure. There is only medication that can help control the pain. For alot of people opiate pain medication provides this pain control. Opiate pain medication has been utilized in this country for a very long time.percocet first hit the market in 1936. As substances that are abused follow trends Within the last few years the drug of choice to abuse has trended to opiate based substances. This has caused a whole group of people who suffer from daily pain to suffer even more.Because of people who do not need opiates but abuse them because they are following the trend. There are groups of people who are calling on the goverment to "do something" to solve the problem of people abusing opiates. These are mostly parents who have lost children to over dose or addiction and they feel that "doing away" with pain medication or making it hard to obtain will somehow solve this problem. As a result people who "need" and have a right to pain medication are suffering.Everyone who possess an opiate pain medication is now being put in the same catagory no matter what the reason.Even people with legit pain who have been on these medications for years and followed the law are being punished.Patients are in fear of losing their medications. The goverment has to take a more common sense appraoch to combat the abuse of opiates.Punishing patients and taking away their medication that works for them is not the answer.Pain patients do exist just like any other patient that suffers any other chronic illness.Yet they are neglected, ignored and even criminalized for having an illness. This has got to change.

I didn't mean to say that Pain medicine should be advertised. I just don't understand why it can't be prescribed that's the word I meant to put in front of "proper medicine" to people that legitimately need it to work. Want to make that clear.

It is bad when your own long time doctor is afraid to treat your condition (pain) for fear of reprisal from the government, with the threat of taking their licenses. Something has to change in favor of patients being able to be taken care of by their doctor.
