I live with bilateral sciatic pain every moment of my life. If I forget myself and sit too much-as in longer than 15 to 30 minutes total per day-I end up in bed for weeks. Bending forward is not something I do. I have a set of doctors that do not want to confirm the existence of ruptured discs in my lower back, let alone suggest a real possibly curative treatment(surgery). I truly cannot tolerate many medications-among which are NSAIDs, steroids and-ironically most opiate based pain killers, yet-I have been treated as some sort of drug craving loser. I run my own business, and it isn't easy-especially since I have lost so much mobility. The current fad in medicine that is punishing those that suffer is the most deplorable thing I have ever seen. Even though I can't take narcotics-I certainly would like to see suffering people that can tolerate them get them. How about a crack down on people that are addicted to power for a nice refreshing change in our stale media misdirected society?

I have been told by a doctor "unfortunately you fall into the category of someone who needs pain medicine, but you're not going to get it". WHAT?!

I wish all the politicians that started this had the pain I have in their testicles. We would find out really quick that chronic pain is real and that it should be treated!

Stop acting like a Banana Republic Dictator and allow our honest pain to continue to be treated. I was a medical rep.for 28 years selling to hospitals the powerful I.V.pain meds used only in hospitals. We introduced the PCA and epidural pain pumps in the 1970's. Patients didn't abuse them, conversely, when in charge, used only half the typical doses, because they WERE in charge with-in prescribed dosing limits. My wife and I are retired now and in our late 60's-both suffering from different painful conditions. Your time might be coming also, stop this madness, and let our doctors treat us as you would want to be treated.

I suspected all along they had a class on how not to treat patients. It is a rare find to have a doctor even ask what is wrong, and now they are not going to mask the symptoms anymore with pain relief medications. Haven't we eliminated any reason to have them. IS this the fix for the health crisis in this country?

Our government is terrible to allow this to happen. It is hard enough to live on half the pain medication I need, but if you take it all away you will be the cause of my death.

I don't understand why the DEA is forcing doctors to not treat chronic pain. As a result I am now on Soc Sec Disability, I had to retire before I could get full benefits, I had to go on Medicare, I can't go to school anymore. I've lost all my social contacts, I can't drive, my marriage is deteriorating and most importantly I'm no longer a productive member of society. I didn't ever get "high" on my pain meds they simply reduced my pain level from 9 to about 5. My pain is 24/7. When I try to sleep it wakes me up. It also keeps me from getting to sleep. Consequently the insomnia aggravates my sleep apnea, which worsens my heart problems and diabetes. All of this has lead to a deepening of depression that will lead to only one alternative. Please help.

Suffering from pain is Not living! The American Dream now consists of lots of diseases with no dedicated medications, pain and then death. Why? Doctors are barely treating us for the documented illnesses we do have. Why? You have to beg for tests when you clearly have nodules etc. Why? They want to wait for 6 more months and see if you have a little cancer? Why? Unfair treatment for chronically ill patients. And I'm one of them, playing guessing games with my health with these so called Drs. Why? What has happened to our healthcare? I asked for an Advil when I went to the ER because I was in so much pain and the reaction was like I had asked for a narcotic. Why? I'm in a lot of pain on a daily basis, for 28 years. I have Sarcoidosis and a lot of other health issues. I have not been on pain medication but I'm noticing as you get older and are sick you really could use it. I'm afraid to ask and I do not need an addiction but its not good to take Advil everyday either and its not really working anymore. Studies also show pain has an affect on your heart. The DEA should be focusing on known pill Drs., drug dealers and all the drugs coming from Mexico. A lot of pain is probably coming from the food we eat and chemicals in the environment. How could we come in contact with over 3000 chemicals a day and be healthy with no pain? To eliminate a lot of diseases the FDA should be attacking all the chemicals in our food and environment and then the DEA would have more time to target drug dealers and drug cartels. I'm hoping Congress will hold hearings with those of us who are chronically ill, our families and friends so they will be informed on the affects of pain in our lives. One size does not fit all. We are not T- shirts.

Most of us Chronic pain patients have a diagnosis of some sort. We are only seeking pain relief and their is very little drug Abuse in these cases. Our bodies have to handle a constant prescribed intake of Meds and cannot handle large doses at once. Please just allow us the dignity and respect we deserve to have the treatments we need.

I was given Adhesive Arachnoiditis and RSD causalgia by a first time student doing my myelogram for her first time. I am now sentenced to a lifetime of the most severe chronic pain that one can endure. A "doctor" did this to me and now I have trouble with getting proper pain treatment.
