As a pharmacist, I find it impossible to believe NOT ONE MEMBER of Congress, DEA, or anyone involved in making these ridiculous rules against doctors and the chronic pain community does NOT have ONE family member who or themselves who suffers from the SAME CHRONIC PAIN CONDITION(S) being described by the petitioners on this site and is has the exact same difficulty with finding doctors to treat their pain in a humane manner. One of you MUST be walking in these peoples shoes to know exactly what they are talking about....now how about doing something about it. We have veterans coming back from Iraq and Afganistans with war wounds that will never heal from chronic pain, Boston Marathon bombing victims who still suffer from chronic pain from their wounds. Accident victims where pain will never ever go away. I have a close friend who almost died and suffers from chronic pain that cannot be taken away from surgery. A nurse friend of mine has cysts on her spinal cord, degenerative disc disease and 3 bulging discs who is under 50 yrs old and on disability now because surgery is not an option without risk of paralyzation in removing the cysts. She was an excellent nurse and now has to possibly give up her life's dream and her license because of her pain issues in her back. She cannot get adequate pain relief. The FDA says steroid injections are NOT approved for epidural injections and yet that is all the pain management doctors want to do and that causes more damage. Yet patients who are damaged by these are left hanging because they cannot sue since no malpractice panels will OK these lawsuits to go forward. Yet NECC killed several patients and ruined many more by dispensing contaminated hundreds of bottles of its own methylprednisolone moldy product for pain management doctors to inject against FDA rules. When will it STOP!!! We are talking only 1% of millions of opiate users are TRUE addicts...these are the people we need to find and allow the doctors to legally treat. Repeal the Harrison Narcotic Act and laws following. Make it legal to allow doctors to treat addicts as the disease and illness it is and not criminals.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. One day I will die and all the pain I feel will be gone.... That will be the day I waited long enough for it to go away! Anti-inflammatory pills burn hole in my stomach and opeants don't let me sleep. I can't win....

My mom has been in chronic pain for over 10 years now, and keeps having to fight for her meds. Just now the doctor has stated she'll be reduced from 15mg down to 10mg. Every "system" change and battle is emotionally draining and causes fear of not being able to function anymore. She has a rare condition of bleeding leg ulcers (livedoid vasculopathy) with no specific treatment known yet. Doctors tried several approaches and just made it worse. I wish there was something I could do to help my mom. I would love for a cure to be found, but for now she can only manage the pain.

Well I'm at it , all people who hold any public office should have any and all medicines they take publicly posted. You all seem to know my medical history . We should know yours . There is no more rights to privacy . Let us decide if you should be taking your medicines , and if you are medically able to serve .

All and I mean all public officials lawyers judges and people who hold any public office should all be drug tested . If they drink they are alcoholics if they smoke they are addicts , if they take blood pressure medicine they are drug dependant . They should not have those jobs . No matter if it is insulin or depression medicine , because you are drug dependant . Why have doctors? I did not choose my illness. And to be untreated for it is a crime .

I have a constant headache , my neck is damaged , my shoulders are damaged , my mid back is damaged , my lower back is damaged . I go to the doctors and they look at me as if I have four heads . I went to e.r. in so much pain I had to be lifted out of the car. The doctors yelled at me for not calling an ambulance, but once inside I was shaking in pain ,a stranger went to the desk and ask them to help me . They wheeled me in back put me in a corner for 30 to 45 min . The would not let my emergency contact back to be with me . That's right they put me in a corner before treating me like a dog they drew blood to see if there was drugs in my system . I take Tylenol by the bucket full to try and treat my pain , my liver is going to explode . Then who should be sued the gov. The hospitals or doctors that won't help me . They say not to take so much Tylenol. So what am I supposed to do ? They want to treat the depression the high blood pressure but not what is causing it . It all stems from my pain . The pain clinics aren't special doctors they pumped so much steroids in me I weighed 390 lbs . . Keep in mind professional sports player are forbidin to take steroids are illegal but you'll blow out my blood pressure and sugar levels to justify the pain medication. It needs to stop now . I will not vote for any one who wants to kill me. So is church and government separate so should the art of medicine and government. And medicine is an art not an exact science . The doctors and government do not know it all . I have anxiety toward doctors . They say I'm adjitated , then tell me how I'm supposed to be if you won't treat me . Then have the nerve to send me a copay I'm not paying . And let's not forget these supposed doctors get paid for not doing their jobs.

I have heard that Doctors only get about 1 day of instruction in medical school. This needs to change. NOW. Chronic pain is at epidemic levels. It needs to be recognized and and Dr. Need to be trained more. Not just in how to recognize an addict!

My family doctor prescribes me opioid pain medication due to having Arachnoiditis. My workers comp cut me off. I would have no other alternative if it wasn't for my caring family doctor. Without my pain medication, I would not be able to function. Please stop the madness. Many people that have chronic pain will die by suicide, or even worse, live day to day in agony with no relief. Doctors are the ones who see the patient and develop a relationship with them. Individual pain treatment should be between the doctor and the patient on an individual basis, NOT dictated by government agencies such as the CDC or by insurance companies. Patient care CAN NOT and SHOULD NOT be painted with such a broad brush!
