This petition is 100 % correct ! The doctor's live in fear of the DEA. I live in fear of my doctor that he might stop prescribing to me based on possible lie's that I am a drug seeker. Some pain patient's, whom took opiod's for pain fell victim or their doctor. Their doctor sent them away and stopped prescribing them opiods. These pain patient's shortly after took their own life. That scare's me that I am at risk of suicide becuase I might not be able to cope with horrible pain if that were to happen to me. Second, I have Manic Depression so I would be double the risk of committing suicide. Brenda.

I went to a pain doc that had me on the pain patch and a pain pill, sorry don't recall the name, it was very strong. He also gave me clonapin and two antidepressants. My prescriptionfor one of my antidepressants ran out and I called his office repeatedly for 11 days to get him to write and other. He had told me I could never stop this med unless I did it gradually. The 11th day I went to his office and ask if the prescription. was ready. He came out and told me he would no longer be my doc because I had harrased the office by calling everyday for my meds. I was so sick at that point that I was throwing up every hour on the hour. I had never taken any of those kind of meds before, no pain, or antidepressants.I trusted the doc to "Do no harm", But he did. And later I found out he had done may folks this way. Dropped them with no warning of legitimate reason. I went to the hospital to get off all the drugs and it was the worst thing I ever experienced. I can't imagine hell being worse than detox. And if I could have found a doc to take me (I have medicare+fibro/chronic fatigue+ have shingles outbreaks every 5-8 weeks since I was 18yrs.old.),I would not have had to go through that hell. And it changed me. I can't explain how it changed me or why. But it did. I never feel like me, or truley happy or trusting anymore. Alsmost as if I am waiting for something terrible to happen, every minute of my life. No true peace, ever. And I blame the antidepressants for that. And all I ever wanted then and now is for my pain to be better. I have had pain all my 63yrs. I am not "old", but this pain is. Now I take the weakest prescription pain med available because no one will give a,ything better. I also take 12-to. 20 ibuprofen a day. And this just barely gets me up and out of bed, not the house, the bed. I do have a good day once in a while for which I am truly grateful. But they are few and far apart. All because of pain and anxiety. Please will someone get this right and just help our pain. I have been through p.t.many times, have changed how I eat, have taken all the antidepressants on the market,(and they all make me sick) I have cooperated and done my part to get better. One month I went without my meds because I was taking my pills and the bottle fell off the sink into the commode. But I didnt call for more because I knew they wouldn't write more.. and I understand. .and got very sick. I don't want to take a dozen pills 4 times a day. I just want pain meds, because thats my problem, I am in pain. Every minute every day. And I don't mean minor pain, pain bad enough to stop me from having a life. And no one should have to live like this. Not when there is something to help. And seriously,,addiction is the least of my worries. Losing my family and life, now that is something to worry about. Ok thats all, I just thought I should say this , and I hope someone listens and does something about it.

Planning suicide in the very near future. Putting us to sleep would be more humane. They gave up trying to fix all the damage I suffer from. They recommend psychological counseling to help me accept chronic 8 plus pain. I have never been on anything stronger than tram Adil. But now tramadol is also reclassified as a narcotic. Apparently, kids gain access to large quantities and use it to get high. All of this is because White America is suddenly concerned that white kids are dying from heroin What does that have to do with grandma's chronic pain. My children have stopped calling me because they can't bear seeing me suffer with no end in sight. I will die alone and in severe pain.

We must get together and stand up for ourselves on this issue. Those of us truly suffering from chronic pain are being discriminated against because of actual drug abusers who will get their high no matter what the government says. I have another petition going right now aimed at the CDC and their new opiate guidelines. Please let's all get together and do something.https://www.change.org/p/david-tauben-md-stop-government-control-of-your-health?recruiter=425114238&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_for_starters_page&utm_term=mob-xs-no_src-no_msg

I dont take anymore then I need I never run out before I am due. I dont go from doctor to doctor. and you want me to take on more pain for someone who has broken the law stolen drugs to get high. Tell you what you find a way that I can have there body and I will get them off drugs and I wont have pain. Now you do that and I will take you up on your offer. Oh wait you cant do that. You dont trust the doctors to tell you have I have a condition that they know is terminal. if you cut my meds I will be doing what ever I can to get cancer so I can life because with out the meds I have no life thanks for signing my death warrant guys. I am even scared of putting my name on this for fear of getting on someones list how sad is that. I cant even be honest. I am scheduled to have surgery in December to remove the cause of my pain (essure permanent birth control coils have migrated INTO my ovaries!!!!), yet my doctor refuses to treat my pain until then because "a month and a half is 'long term' and narcotics aren't meant for long term"... I was told to take tylenol for my sharp stabbing abdominal pain that drops me to my knees. How is this right?!?! Someone who is truly in pain and will be taking care of the problem can't get help but adicts can?!?!?!?! It is almost like they want us all to turn to the streets. I refuse to do so. I shouldn't feel like breaking the law is the only way I can be free of pain until my surgery. I should be able to get the proper treatment from my doctor.

Dea needs to be stopped. They are only making work for themselves. We don't need them. Libertarians have some good ideas. It is getting more difficult each mo.to get my meds. I'd like to see these guys go through the agony some of us go through on a daily basis. Most of us as a result of working our asses off over many years prior to laws protecting workers. Like many, I have MRI's supporting this, but some guy with 6 mo. Law enforcement training knows better than a physician with 8 yrs. training. The new rules cut back our medication by 25% in California. My pain hasn't decreased by 25%. If anything I need a little more. I realize there are people who get these meds and sell them. Patients like myself have never shared one pill. Ca. has just instituted an assisted suistide law for the terminaly I'll. Are us pain patients going to be next? Not for me, the only unforgivable sin. So is black tar H from Mexico our only viable option? Not for me, just sayin. Perhaps proof via MRI could be a prerequiste to pain medication. These guys have to stopped immediately. They are tying the hands of doctors pharmacists and drug companies. They just keep chipping away. Thanks, mike

It is obscene that the government is putting the lives of the 5% who become addicted to opiates above the 95% who do not. I was recently diagnosed with degenerative disc disease with herniated and bulging cervical discs. Opiates are effective in lowering my pain. I should not have to jump through hoops to receive appropriate medical care. I certainly should not be threatened with having my opiod medication withheld if I refuse to take part in epidural steroid injections which have not been proven to be safe or effective. If my pain can be managed with a few pills a day why on earth would I risk being paralyzed, killed or put in even greater pain with arachnoiditis? I realize that the pain management doctors line their pockets with the money from these injections but surely it is unethical for them to withhold medication from patients for refusing to participate in shots with medication that has not been approved by the FDA for this procedure? It reeks of blackmail, doesn't it?
