12-22-2015 I heard the same thing at my appt. on Monday. My doc says his hands are tied. I have RSD from an accident and have been disabled since 2004. I was on way too much and decided 6 years ago to go down on dosage myself. My pain level is at a 6 most of the time- just enough where I can still get some things done but not feeling groggy. I know what it's like to go without, I end up just sitting all day, I can't stand the pain in my legs. I am baffled. Why would they take the only bit of life I have away? Who ordered this? I am very responsible with my medications. I am sorry other abuse it, but ??? It will cause me very much unnecessary pain? Because someone has an idea? I'm sorry, but if taking away a pain medication for the reason of others abusing it is ethical than I read the wrong hippocratic oath. With no alternative beside the pain meds, I just don't see how a Doctor could sleep at night? It makes no sense to me. None.REPORT COMMENTS

Why are you trying to kill us? Why are you hurting us? I thought the entire point behind being a doctor was to help, not harm people? As my government you are taking away my doctors ability to HELP me. I have chronic pain. I will always have it. Without my pain medicine I cannot get out of bed. I crawl instead of walk. I can't shower. I can't do ANYTHING that YOU take for granted. You're punishing legitimate pain suffering patients. Why? We are here. We will ALWAYS be here. We aren't going away. Instead of allowing us to get the medical help we need, you are going to force us to seek out other avenues. Do you not understand that we are beyond the help of Tylenol, Ibuprofen, physical therapy and acupuncture? Do you think we haven't gone down thise roads? Do you believe, for ONE moment we enjoy the stigmas, the flat out hatefulness we endure as chronic pain patients? Do you understand that because of YOUR treatment of us, we are treated like absolute hell? Like we are terrible people because our bodies have betrayed us? I would.not wish what I endure 24/7 on anyone. But I sincerely wish all of you there could, for 1 single day, feel it so y ou could understand. It is humiliating to have.to ask your child for help to shower. I'm 41 years old and must do this, ask my 18 year old for intimate help. You are adding.to that humiliations. As you force me to take less and less needed pain medication you are causing more and deeper depression. Will YOU be attending all the suicide funerals YOU have caused in your "wisdom"? Will you testify in court that YOU took the meds away from a chronic pain patient so they sought relief elsewhere? I doubt it. Shame in you.REPORT COMMENTS

I was "diagnosed" with rheumatoid arthritis about 10 years ago. However, two years ago, I was admitted into the hospital because of FUO ( fever of unknown origin...104) and was given a new diagnosis. AOSD. Adult Onset Stills Disease. I went , as far as pain management, from the occasional ramadoss to a Fentanyl Patch!!!!!!!!! This disease is a nightmare. Anyone who suffers from this disease knows that when the dragon rears its ugly head, we have to be ready for battle. The pain associated with this disease is out of this world. I CANNOT describe the pain to make a person understand. It is something that a person has to experience for themselves. God forbid....I wish this on NO ONE!!!! And to think....the lovely DEA and CDC who are "all powerful" now with their control. So....I think it goes without saying....when a person is truly in pain, these mess that some of us have to , unfortunately, take....JUST TO GET OUT OF BED....do not do for us what they do for the abusers. We should NOT be treated like addicts!!!! Do you think that we want this for our life? That we LOVE walking into the pharmacy only to be greeted by the occasional staff personnel (with an uneducated mentality of a "holier than thou shame on you , you LOSER, addict, druggie" ) and being looked down upon? I have had this happen many many times. I have left a Walgreens pharmacy in El Paso, Texas CRYING MY EYES OUT!!! Literally, crying my eyes out!!!! Do you think it makes me PROUD to have to fill a Fentanyl patch prescription? And for people to try and shame us even more and treat every single person as though they are an addict??? For 8 years, on a steady pain medication regimen, I was able to continue my job as an educator to Middle School students with mental health issues. For 8 years I was able to tend to my daughters needs. I was still in pain but I was able to push myself to give my daughter and my students the all I had. I paid my taxes, I was a contributing member of society. Now I am a statistic, a problem. I am treated like a junkie and every aspect of my health care appointments are focused on reducing my medication. Last week I had to leave my job on a medical leave of absence so I would not be fired for excessive sick days. I have to choose between work and getting my daughter to school. I can no longer do both because I cannot get out of bed some days. At one time my medications helped me manage this. I had some quality of life yet the politicians see my reductions in medication as a triumph. I am not feeling very triumphant as I head to the disability lawyer to discuss the options I have left. I feel victimized and alone. I only wanted to be well enough to be proud of the life I was living. I only did did what my doctors said I should when they cared about my chronic pain. I cannot help but think that a few months in my shoes would change the minds of the powers that be, whoever they are.REPORT COMMENTS

All too often, because I don't look disabled from my pain, I am cast off as a PITA (Pain In The Ass) Patient. Doctors in Southern Oregon discriminate regularly against unseen disabilities, refusing to sign Long Term Disability Attending Physician Statements, and even firing the patient if the patient questions their Provider. Mine's been in place 19 years and it appears female doctors, P.A.s, R.N.s, etc. are the worst culprits of Discrimination against Disabled persons, especially if that disabled person is another woman and shows no visible signs of Disability. Even though I gave proof through all the documentation I could possibly have released from prior doctors to these new ones, they turn a blind eye on the Disabled at 61. Who is going to hire anyone who has not worked in 19 years at the age of 61? It's ludicrous!REPORT COMMENTS

In war we don't intentionally blow the whole camp up and kill innocent people that may be alongside the "bad guys", just to get them. That's the easy but inhumane way of doing it. What is going on here now is to kill or suffer all just to get rid of the abusers. But I see little hope in sight when dealing with the insane laws that only an unbalanced mind could have created. But to see evil as this and do nothing would make me the same as they that do it. On a doctors visit when you are sometimes asked if you could harm others I hope you remember the horrors you have created, knowing it will hurt the young and old. The sick and disabled. It affects all.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm 65yo, female and have had 17 major surgeries & numerous minor ones since my 20s. Have spinal stenosis, and major bone/joint problems. I have metal knees, right hip, right ankle, both wrists, and titanium wire holding my lumbar spine together (3 surgeries there)! I have suffered from full body pain all my life, which they now call Fibromyalgia. Otherwise, I'm physically healthy (no heart or other such probs). Fortunately, my current Doctor of several years is the understanding sort. We have gone through various pain meds that work for awhile, then not so much, even at increased doses. So we start over. I'm now back on oxycodone, which is working to a point, but at a lower dose than either of us would like. Why? Because the Clinic where he's employed WON'T ALLOW HIM to give me more than a set amount of opiods per month! So if I take what I need, I'll run out too soon and have to do without for the rest of the month! Sometimes, it's not the Doctor's fault. It's the SYSTEM. They think we're all addicts or dealers or whatever. Anything but Human Beings in need of surcease.REPORT COMMENTS

I was absolutely furious when I picked up my medical records from dr. Nancy Erickson of Pembroke Pines, Florida. I have had RSD for five and a half years and the diagnosis was solid: Cleveland Clinic Florida as well as University of Miami both diagnosed me with RSD. More specifically, I have CRPS type 2. Type 2 simply means that your nerve damage was picked up by the nerve conduction study and the EMG. Imagine picking up your medical report or your medical records from a doctor whose primary diagnosis of your condition is opiate abuse disorder? I was livid. How would that affect my ability to find a pain management doctor willing to take me on as a patient for my real medical condition? Since I only saw her 3 times I simply did not mention that she was ever my doctor and found a different doctor to refill my implanted pain pump. This type of diagnosis for a legitimate chronic pain patient can be devastating. What if she were my doctor for 2 years? There would be no way for me to omit those medical records and I probably would not have a doctor treating me for RSD today. I will not mention his name since he is my current doctor but I'm not exactly thrilled with the treatment I received over the last year under his care. I can't even imagine how many physicians have done this to their patients. But I can imagine the implications of it and how soul - crushing such a diagnosis can be. Who will be there to stand by the patient and say to the doctor no Dr you've got the wrong? Who indeed.REPORT COMMENTS

I've been saying it for a long time now, The CDC has FALSIFIED THEIR OVERDOSE DEATHRATES TO FIT THEIR AGENDA!!! Please reference the article on painnewsnetwork.org page under the article regarding fentanyl. What a nightmare the CDC has caused for all legitimate chronic intractable pain sufferers across this country!! They admit that the statistics are wrong! That they took it upon themselves to lump all deaths as one, if opiods are found in someone's body, regardless of where it came from, legally or illegally, it was listed as an prescription overdose death. They have lumped all heroin deaths and morphine related deaths as well. What about the number od suicides from legit patients who took their lives due to inadequate pain relief? Another prescription overdose death when the death certificate should say it was death due to inadequate pain relief!! How many of them deaths were when alcohol or other illicit street drugs were mixed!? They don't dare break that down do they!? NO,,.. They FALSIFIED STATISTICS TO FIT THE GOVERNMENTS AGENDA TO CREATE MASS HYSTERIA. THE MEDIA, DEA, FDA , CDC AND THE GOVERNMENT HAS CREATED MAJOR CAUSE FOR CONCERN WHEN THERE ARE INNOCENT LEGITIMATE CHRONIC INTRACTABLE PAIN SUFFERERS WHO CAN NO LONGER HAVE THE LIFE SAVING MEDS THYAND NEED TO MANAGE THEIR PAIN!!!! Not too long ago, I went through a horrible experience with kidney stones. My PCP was really caring and helpful when it came to easing my suffering while passing the stone. He prescribed me an opiate pain reliever to take as needed and I can say for sure that I would not have been able to function had he not. I passed the stone in about 2-3 weeks and that was it. This type of treatment is humane and caring, not criminal. I had to live in pain for 3 weeks and was cared for professionally, I cannot imagine how horrible it would be to suffer from chronic pain and not be treated the same even though it is for a much longer duration. To withhold treatment from someone who is suffering in pain for no real reason is barbaric and immoral. People are different and so are their thresholds for pain. Doctors who do not treat their patients WHOLE CONDITION should be sued for malpractice. I just hope that when the other stones I have (according to MRI and x-rays) pass, the doctors where I live now in Florida will be as professional and humane as my doctor in Georgia was.REPORT COMMENTS
