You need to have assisted suicides here in Pa. I'll be the first on the list . My last request , I want the alcoholic to do it . I want him to look me in the eyes and we'll where at it have it televised so the rest of America can see you would kill a person instead of treating their illness . Seeing how he is more worried about addicts , than chronic pain suffers . Yes the scales are tilted . He is putting a priority on his illness instead of mine . That way you wouldn't have to pay me restitution for making me suffer like a dog that has been beatin and tied outside with no water . -

When I used to work and if I goofed of as much as you people do I would have been fired . When you have a job to do you get it done . Your so busy goofing off it sways your judgement . You don't deserve to get paid , as for that just the honor of serving should be payment enough . This is people's lives you are playing with . What do you have to say for yourselves ? Who was the genius that put a recovering alcoholic in charge ? Do you see the madness of this ? No one should have to suffer like this , nobody . Are you that disconnected with reality ? As far as the war on drugs go , to fix that problem , you need to get a campaign going and tell people they will get a big reward for ratting out the drug dealers . This isn't for the people who do the drugs it's directed at the people within the main drug dealers group because if they could sell out their bosses and get legal money for it the drug war would be over . Money is the motivator . That greed that makes people sell drugs is your weapon . Don't take this out on chronic pain suffers . We where diagnosed and need to be treated . Remember I left the last pain clinic because of the way I was treated , I'm not a seeker nor an addict . Just because a doctor gives you medicine for pain does not make them a good doctor . I want treated with respect and dignity as much as I need the medicine I will not be treated in an inhumane fashion. It's not doctor shopping it's finding a true doctor .REPORT COMMENTS

I saw on one of those 60 min. Shows that the the man in charge of dea is a recovering alcoholic. Good for him , but see that's the problem . He is an addict , that is his illness. I suffer from chronic pain . He just wants to take drugs , I don't want to take drugs . His outlook is perverted by his illness . I need medicine to stop my pain . There is no joy in having to take medicine every day to keep your pain at bay . See the difference ? Remember I have had doctors tell me my pain needs to be controlled . His illness just makes him want to do drugs . I'm happy you had help with your illness but you do not belong in a field were medicine and drugs are being handled . That is why in my other letters every one in charge needs to be psychologically evaluated and their medical records should be public . You think everyone is an addict and you are wrong . Let me tell you folks in congress....how dare you...You! who seem to know little or nothing about pain and suffering....there are worse things than being dependent (and responsible) on pain medication. Such as, not being able to bend to put your socks on, not being able to sit and watch a movie with your children, or not being able to walk the block to the mail box and back, forget about taking your best friend for a walk etc etc. Now for the particulars....I had a pneumonectomy (removal of my left lung) (carcinoid tumor not due to smoking) half my thyroid removed ....botched by Dr. Ithoughtiknewwhatiwasdoing, had meniscus repaired in both knees, and recently (Sept 2015) a total hip replacement w/complications. I have had back problems from jobs I worked when I was young (all documented) and migraines (only 2 to 3 times a year). I served in the USMC 68-70 and U.S. Army from 80-81 (medical discharge). I didn't ask for these health problems....just stuff that happens....however, I have tried going without pain medication and my quality of life was 75 to 85% limited (Even tried medical pot...but it didn't work for my pain). In other words ... I could do very little. I am fortunate to have a family Dr. that understands this and helps. But many are being refused or not given enough meds to help. I hear (60 min) that people are trying heroin from drug dealers on the street because they can't afford pain meds or have been refused....WHAT! You need to rethink this problem (real or media bandwagon hype) and go visit some real people with real health problems. I am a retired teacher of 20 plus years with a Masters in Education and a minor in Psy. If you want to get an intelligent solution to this situation (not problem)....go to the Universities and let some people that have degrees in something other than "The law" work through this. This is heartbreaking. I'm a chronic pain sufferer and yet I force myself to live in pain until it becomes too unbearable (about once or twice a year) and go to pain management and jump through all of their hoops only to be treated as a drug seeker and be denied pain meds. What I find so sickening and hypocritical is we've all but stopped putting murderers on death row to death via lethal injection because they e sometimes suffer for a minute so it's been deemed cruel. Seriously? Yet we will deny millions who suffer all day every day in excruciating pain. How is this humane? I have already prepped my adult children. I don't want to die, but my debilitating cycle of pain and depression from failure to legitimately receive vicodin, the only thing that has ever worked, had forced me to soon make the choice that "death is better that no quality of life at all". This is the alcohol prohibition all over again. I am on disability and get $650 per month, how am I suppose to live on that?! Doctors want to do nerve blocks at 5k (medicare & I pay 20%) a pop every few months, with no guarantees, but a $50 per month script is out of the question, when it makes me able to work and support myself. I have suffered with chronic pain since I was 5 years old. I am now 51 yrs old. I have Charcot Marie Tooth disease, a hereditary neuromuscular disease similar to MS. I have peripheral neuropathy, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, arthritis, fibrous dysplasia of the temporal bone, and many, many, herniated and bulging discs in my neck and back. I've had both of my feet totally reconstructed because the disease put me in a wheelchair at age 32. I am walking thanks to God and a great surgeon but I suffer with horrible chronic pain all over my body. I had a neck fusion in December 2014 and 4 months after my neck fusion I was hit head-on by a drunk driver causing MORE herniated discs in my neck AND back. I've been through years and years of physical therapy and injections. They don't work. The ONLY thing that helps my chronic pain and allows me to live somewhat of a life and take on responsibility is opiate medications. I am NOT an ADDICT, but I am dependent on pain medicine to LIVE LIFE and function on a daily basis. I am sick and tired of being treated like a drug addict by so many doctors who do NOT understand or know ANYTHING about my disease. My current doctor KNOWS me, he knows I am a "tough case". HE prescribes what I need. BUT between he and my pharmacists we have run into MANY problems since the CDC and DEA stuck their noses into all of this. THEY are NOT doctors. Our doctors know us, and KNOW HOW to treat us patients. LEAVE THEM do their jobs. Stop threatening doctors and pharmacists licenses because they are prescribing what we patients NEED to LIVE and function. I challenge ANY government or politician to LIVE in MY SHOES for a WEEK. Even a DAY... and they will UNDERSTAND. I did NOT ask to have all of these diseases and illnesses, I did not ask to be hit by a drunk driver, I would GIVE anything to LIVE a NORMAL HEALTHY life. A life WITHOUT chronic pain and suffering. Get YOUR NOSES out of our LIVES, STOP this INHUMANE activity. We are HUMAN, we are chronic pain patients who deserve to TRY to LIVE a semi normal life just like YOU DO every single day. Let the DOCTORS be DOCTORS and do their JOBS. The government is pushing pain patients to the STREETS and SUICIDE. YOU are the problem, not the chronic pain patients, doctors, or pharmacists. YOU, our government are the problem.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been on pain meds for several years for Osteoarthritis and it has taken me from a walker to at least to where I can function without the pain and aid of a walker. I think what the government is doing by telling the doctor how and who to treat is wrong!!! I worked in the medical field for over 20 plus years and we knew who the pill seeker were plus the insurance companies would alert us as well. After seeing my pain doctor yesterday for him to tell me I'm not a candidate for chronic pain management was a total shock and has thrown me into a deep depression because I can see what is coming, back to the walker and maybe a scooter just to be able to go to the doctor who can't treat me anymore. I say the government needs to get out of the medical field and let the doctors that have the schooling and the background treat their patients. The doctor's are not stupid but the government is because they didn't spend most of their lives in medical school. SO GOVERNMENT GET OUT OF THE MEDICAL FIELD!!!REPORT COMMENTS
