I am a chronic pain sufferer and have been railroaded everywhere I go. I do the right things, abide by the treatments suggested by my physicians only to be basically made to think that my pain is in my head. I have medical documentation to support my pain, I've had my share of injections and physical therapy only to find that it doesn't work that well. Those are money SEEKING schemes and is only helpful to those WITHOUT chronic pain and should be used for ACUTE pain...so sick of the government interfering into MY healthcare. I know what works for me. It's not my fault that addicts will be addicts, you'd think you smart people would understand... if it's not one thing it's another. Maybe we should outlaw food for those addicted to food and are morbidly obese......in the words of Red Foreman...dumb@$$3$.Jan 7th, 2016Someone from Eureka, CA signed.

I think it's ridiculous that people have to suffer because too many people are weak-minded, ((population control, (harsh) well too bad. Forcing people to live with pain because of stupid fools is harsh. News flash DEA - they will turn to other forms illegal drugs. How about make tobacco or alcohol illegal too? I bet it's just a ploy to keep idiots in jobs and keep wasting...I mean spending (wink wink) taxpayer dollars.REPORT COMMENTS

I just yesterday, January 6th, 2016, lost the second physician I have lost due to 'clinical audit of prescriptions' and how 'they', whoever they are, or think they are, nosing into the private medical business of a patient and his care-giver - as if they have a clue what's going on... They can only guess what's going on, and they're making judgments based on guesses that affect peoples' lives adversely. And frankly, I'm ****ing sick of it, and it has got to stop. Those of us who can't function adequately without proper pain management should not have to suffer the lack of a life at all simply because drug addicts are addicted to******they don't even NEED in the first place. I say **** em! Let them rot and die if that's what they want to do. I simply want to live, and opiate medication helps me to do that. Ask the people actually IN my life day to day and ask them how I'm different when I don't have medication and when I do. Word to whoever is making these rules that are ****ing up peoples' lives, you will be dealt with. One way, or another. We as free, law-abiding citizens are seriously sick of your shit. And it's about to end. Good Day. Jon GibsonREPORT COMMENTS

51 years old and suffering constantly! I have NEVER abused medication, even after back fusion and double knee replacement I was cautious not to become dependent. Now, facing hip replacement and needing to postpone as long as possible, the Dr's have no heart what so ever. I have NEVER begged... I am begging now! I don't know how much more I can stand. So tired of agony. Back alleys are starting to look inviting :(REPORT COMMENTS

The powers that be point their fingers at one another as being responsible for this tragedy. This is unconscionable and people are suffering needlessly. I have been told by doctors, the ACLU, and various lawyers that I need to understand that there is a drug epidemic in our country that needs to be addressed. I say, people who are in pain who do not abuse their medications should not be casualties of this war and it needs to stop NOW. Patients who have never abused there meds are being forced into contracts which sign away their fourth amendment rights, they are limited and denied beneficial and legal medications, they are funneled into 'pain clinics' that are only concerned with controlling pills, and are being turned away even with legal prescriptions in hand. Uncontrolled pain can cause many other health issues from widespread neuralgia, cardiac and vascular problems, as well as severe depression. People who are victims of these sorts of practices are being denied proper medical care in the misguided attempt at solving others problems with addiction. Dependence on drugs is different than addiction. Those who are dependent on insulin are not labeled as insulin addicts. Those who need blood pressure medications daily are not labeled anti-hypertensive addicts. It's ridiculous. Addiction is a horrible thing to witness but the statistics that are being disseminated about opiates are being skewed to fit the WAR ON DRUGS agenda and have little to do with actually addressing the issues of overdose and addiction in those who are predisposed to it.REPORT COMMENTS

I have chronic pain from several forms of Arthritis, bulging disk, sarcoidosis just to name a few of my ailments. I hurt my back in June 2015 and it's been a slow recovery. I now take mild norco 7.25, I have been forced to a pain clinic and have to endure back injections that don't help or I will not receive my pain medication monthly. My primary will not treat this neither will my rheumatologist. So I am at the mercy of this clinic that I feel treats me like a dollar sign rather than a human becuase they can. I am still trying to work on FMLA or I would lose my job. I am in trouble. Who is going to care for me and pay my bills if I can not work what little I can. I pray I get well so I don't have to suffer at the hands of politicians who have my life and future literally in their hands.REPORT COMMENTS

I've been on Disability for over 10 years with Chronic pain. I moved to a new city over a year ago and can't find a Doctor to listen to me. The first doctor didn't look at me while telling me not to come back, The second doctor gave me a lecture on drug addiction and prescribed a medication that had me in the Er twice with side affects while I could only cry with the spasms from my injury's. I found the third Doctor on my own and he talked to me and was willing to help. He left for a teaching position so I went to a Doctor at the same clinic. She has stopped my medication and I'm now living my life with constant pain sleeplessness and isolation. Daily chores or going to the store are impossible most days. I'm now depressed and cry at least once daily. I used to have a full life with a job, my horses, my own home.I don't know what to do anymoreREPORT COMMENTS

Until these Healthcare providers are re-educated there will continue to be a problem. Unfortunately, having chronic pain cannot be seen. You are treated like med seekers, drug abusers. Yes, and third class citizens. Honest people will commit suicide. Others will go to street drugs. The DEA NEEDS to be educated on chronic pain and prescription medications. Not everyone abuses pain medication. The drug problems will continue no matter how the DEA handles it. Already proven!!!! Take care of illegal activity and leave honest people alone.Pill mills are quite different from pain management Doctors! Do your homework. Check your recources.REPORT COMMENTS

reading all these comments, people pouring out their hearts because of fear that their medication will not be aloud or already is not allowed. It is wrong for the DEA to interfere with what a doctor feels is medically necessary to help their patients. What the DEA is doing is wrong and criminals will still get what they want regardless. SO STOP PUNISHING THE PEOPLE AND DOCTORS. I think all employees in the government should all be on OBAMACARE.........maybe that will change how they see things??REPORT COMMENTS

Outrageous criminal drug laws have eviscerated this nation in many ways. You probably haven't a clue as to what this truly means but you will once another 08 financial crisis occurs. In addition, you will know first hand should you happen to sustain a severe injury requiring opiates but denied by your own laws. In any event, these criminal restrictions and war on the American people carry a tremendous cost, the baneful consequences of which lurk in every corner and in which no one--even the corrupt and short sighted that support it--is immune.REPORT COMMENTS

Pain sufferers have the constitutional right to the Pursuit Of Happiness. However, our pain prevents us from being able to pursue happiness. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, along with most of its' comorbid conditions such as small fiber polyneuropathy. I also have an occipital neurostimulator that my insurance company refused to pay for due to severe occipital pain (That I had to deal with for almost five years). I do not use pain medications because for the most part, they make me sick to my stomach. However, other people with EDS need these medications. I would have had to take them if it weren't for my neurostimulator (again, the neurostimulator that my insurance company refused to cover). Pain and coverage of pain must be addressed. Millions of people suffer with unbearable pain. Unless you've lived it, it would be very difficult for you to understand. I do not take pain medication lightly. I come from a family where the men in my family suffer from addiction issues. We must be very careful not too swing so far in one direction that we leave people in horrendous pain and unable to live their lives. We must be practical and we must be empathic to those who need these medications.REPORT COMMENTS

Nobody disagrees that opioids should be prescribed with great care and attention. But taking them as an option off the table will be catastrophic for the thousands of chronic pain patients in America! As a sufferer of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and not even in my forties yet, I am doing my best to cope with as little medication as possible, and without opioids for as long as possible. And even so, finding physicians willing to work with me has been challenging, considering the prospects of aging with this horrible, painful joint disease! Do not ban the drugs! Develop systems for properly evaluating rare diseases; clear, scientific, and humane guidelines for working with pain patients; and train each and every doctor on the needs of the chronic pain patient! Yes, it takes lots of work, empathy, and good judgement to treat pain patients. But the American physicians are up to the challenge -- if only the collective American society can stop shaming them for doing their duty!REPORT COMMENTS
