The Doctors should be treating the people in need. But they can't because of the DEA. Doctors practice Medicen . The DEA Dictates Medicen. When the Doctor tells you he is sorry he can't help you anymore because he is worried about the DEA. The Doctors take a Oath to do no harm, not the DEA. But the Docors are doing harm because of the DEA ! -

I am only 25 and I suffer from chronic pain. Unfortunately the area I live in has a very high rate of addiction and therefore because I am young doctors have ignored my pain for years. They believe I must be seeking drugs. Never mind that there are days I can barely walk because my back and knees hurt so bad, who cares that I can't play with my children or pick the baby up out of his crib. Oh and I guess when my knee swells to the size of a grapefruit that's just in my head too. I want to be able to go to the doctor and feel like they care that pain is effecting every aspect of my life and to treat me like a patient not someone who must be seeking drugs just because of my age.REPORT COMMENTS

35 years ago, at the age of 25, Both my husband and I, were in a terrible car accident. My husband and I both worked and raised 3 sons, until he passed away from pancreatic cancer 14 years after the accident, when he was 39. I know what it's like to watch someone you love in pain. Having to run to the hospital to get morphine suppositories, because he couldn't keep pain medication down. I had to wait at this hospital pharmacy for 3 hours, because even back in 1994, I was made to feel like I was a drug addict. I am 60 now, I finished raising my sons, one just retired from the U.S. Coast Guard, and still works for the federal government. The second son was in the navy, and now is a police officer for the VA. My third son graduated from college. One of the courses he majored in was psychology, with emphasis on PTSD and pharmacology. If you ask him why, he'll tell you that watching his mother, and what I was going through, was one of the reasons. As I aged, it all starting catching up to me. I have watched my grandchildren grow up. Mainly from a distance, because I can't hold them or play with them. Having been to numerous doctors in my life, and trying a lot of different medications for inflammation, anxiety, which is mainly caused from pain, and for fibromyalgia. I keep trying to stay positive. There is no reason, with all the medication that can be used for pain. That we let people suffer. It's like anything else that people abuse, those people will find it somehow. Where as those hard working Americans that have given so much from themselves and their families, that really need pain meds. Are made to feel like abusers.REPORT COMMENTS

Since about fall 2009; I have been dealing with health issues that have only gone downhill and keep getting worse. I was 19 when all this started. In 2012, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Trying to get doctors to listen and help us anymore is out the door cause our insurance companies control what kind of care and medication we get these days. Before my health problems started; I was very active walking everywhere with my friends everyday was an active day for me before 2009. Then one day in fall of 09 I woke up feeling like I my body was on fire. The beginning of 2015 is when it got the worse for me. My body is always inflamed, I'm burning up constantly, my skin turns extremely red and also discolors, I am always having headaches/migraines, joint pain, muscle pain, seizures, muscle spasms, hard to move around or be active, kyphosis, schmorl's nodes and that's only half of it. I'm only 25 and can barely have a life. My doctor won't help me give me relief, so I can get through a day. This is ridiculous that the people who need help can't get help because the people who don't need it abused the system and so it turned into a ripple effect. Shit! Now every time you go into the ER for something they assume your only there for pain meds and especially if you mention the word pain they instantly assume. What happened to preventive healthcare? What happened to all people deserve equal care? cause from my view it looks like the only people who actually get adequate treatment are the A-list rich people.REPORT COMMENTS

My doctor said he could no longer give me my pain meds 3 weeks ago, because my dose was too high, and he could lose his Liscence. ..huh.?????? Since when?? Since wallgreens called and asked why I was on these meds. Why didn't u stand up for me,and others?..I've been going to him for 5 yrs,and he's kept me comfortable. I have many many back isues after 3 failed surgeries, ..was also diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome. Wow..I hurt.I can't walk, or even lift a coffee mug w the pain. Who the the hell do these people think they are threatening my doctor like that. He should be able to help us,after all, this is his specialty. He wants to help, but tells me he can't any longer. What a puss,so I have to suffer. I can't even walk w out my meds. I'm m bed ridden now,and meds are almost gone. Should be a treat to face withdrawal, and pain together. Yay... Why would you let pharmacys, dictate what we need??? There job is to FILL. That's it. They aren't docs. Just fill my script, and shut up,its not your buisness. It's between me and my doctor. Thanks s lot doctors!!!!you should all stand up for us, and help us. Instead, your too scared. If you all just kept doing your job, this wouldn't be happening. All the docs should stand up for themselves, instead of making us suffer. Your all a bunch of pusses.fight w us,or well get no where. stop being pushed around Give the patients their life back, and the relief they had and deserve allready. .... I'll tell you right now, this better change and quick. If any of you doctors had a family member going through this would u stand for it??? No.. I doubt it. Come on people!!!!! Let's do something! !!!! This is total bs. Why did u doctors specialize in pain management, if your scared to manage our pain???? Stop being so scared...do something! !!! I am not a drug addict. I am dependant on meds for my pain. There's a difference.REPORT COMMENTS

At age 31 it is about 100 x more difficult to find health care professionals that believe I have real pain. luckily I found once pain management doctor that believes me. But pharmacists are a nightmare to deal with. I have a PhD in medicinal chemistry...the doctors realize that I understand the pharmacology and trust me but pharmacists are too low on the intellectual ladder to understand this.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been suffering for 8 years with pain. It gradually worsened to the point that I could barly walk at age 39...I was told to exercise, and try Tylenol. Funny, but I did it. Then when that failed I was given medicine to help my sleep and to supposedly help my brain tolerate pain, like an anti- depressant but I wasn't depressed! That didn't work... Then I was put on Lyrica, I fell asleep at work and could not focus. That did not work. The doctors only ran blood work and told me I was healthy. One Nurse practitioner insinuated that I needed mental help in her report but didn't tell me that, I had to beg her for an X-ray which revealed fluid in my hip, a cyst and a labrum tear- which would cause PAIN!! She still thought it was in my head but referred me out for surgery and said there was nothing I could do about the pain until I had surgery!!!! Well I decided to head out of the small county I live in and got different doctors and had the hip surgery. They ran MRI's and xrays, Voila! More Answers. I have degenerative disc and joint disease, hip dysplasia, Graves Disease revealed by a sonogram not blood work, which causes excruciating pain around the eyes and thyroid problems. When I had a hip Labrum tear and did the hip joint surgery- they shaved the femoral neck bone down and post surgery I fractured- 1.5 yrs later, I'm still healing from the fracture, still in pain and learned that I have Osteoporosis- at age 40! I am on Forteo shots to help heal the bone and my osteoporosis... Forteo shots daily cause pain in the bones and severe muscle spasms. I have also been diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis which is auto immune disease that I take Otezla for and it helps a little with the muscle spasm and joint pain. I also take Celebrex for the arthritis in my joints. oh and the newest diagnosis, a RARE symptomatic Tarlov Cyst on my L5 nerve root - I have a spinal cord leak that ballooned the L5 nerve sheath which requires surgery. Talk about lower back pain, it also cause a variety of other painful symptoms. I am a mother, wife and work full time to support my family and pay my mortgage. I can now barely stand 10 mins without being in severe pain. Thankfully, my doctor was able to provide me with medication that allows me to be able to stand, work and walk about 30 minutes at a time now. I went back to work with a fractured hip and in pain!! I've also had two epidurals to help with the pain at a very expensive cost of $8000.00 each- thank god I have insurance.however, the relief only lasted 3 weeks. I also use a TENS unit and Lidocsine patches, physical therapy- you name it I've tried it. If ADVIL worked don't you think I would just pick up a bottle for $4.00?? I tried it all. I wouldn't be spending thousands of dollars for surgeries and medical help for auto immune disease and other physical deformities that caused physical damage to my body. It is very sad that there are people that have serious addiction problems but that is no reasonREPORT COMMENTS

What does IC feel like? ALL.THE.TIME. A million paper cuts with lemon juice and salt poured on top. A dry catheter insert. A popping rubber band. A bowling ball on your bladder. Acid on open wounds. The intense need to pee as if you've held it for a day; every few minutes. Burning acid flowing out as you urinate. Sore stomach muscles. The "ring of fire" feeling that never ever goes away. Fear of going anywhere unfamiliar because you dont know where or how easily accessible a bathroom is. Going to doctors who dont believe it exists. Going to doctors who won't treat it. Going to doctors who know nothing about it. Being given conflicting information and misinformation from every health care provider you see. Being told they'd rather cut your bladder out than give you pain meds. Being told you just need to learn to cope with the pain. Being prescribed drugs with far worse side effects than a narcotic. Being told repeatedly by general physicians to see a psychiatrist. Being ignored when you try to explain how much you hurt. How tired you are from never fully sleeping. You hurt even in your sleep. Its a constant tormentor. One who never leaves. That is my constant reality.REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from ehlers-danlos syndrome and the chronic pain associated with it. I think it's an utter disgrace that the CDC would consider removing the decision of what kind of pain relief and care should be provided to the chronic pain sufferer, from the chronic pain suffer and their physician. For those of us who have gotten to the point in our lives where the pain has become so great that we decided to take the route of opioid usage through the legal and controlled means of a prescription from our doctors, what you are suggesting is tantamount to torture! This would be condemning us to a painful existence and make it so that many of us become bound to our homes and beds, instead of being productive members of society. Please consider our needs and rights to live a meaningful life and not one that's wrought with pain. Let us continue being a wife, a mother, a husband, a father, a sister or brother and not just an empty shell of our former selves crying out in agony each day, searching for alternative means to end the pain.REPORT COMMENTS

I have raised 4 kids thanx to my meds. Am I addiicted??! I'd say yes after 30 years but who cares about that unless your doctor comes back and cuts your mg in half because of a score the dea gave you and a letter you the dea wrote my doctor ( like a threat) now my grandchildren are loosing their grandmother and my husband his wife. I'm no longer active and back in bed suffering and at times wishing to die. What happens next month?? Cut my mg some more? I don't no what this herion is about or how it works for pain but you bet before I suffer anymore or stop living I would try it. I had Ulnar Nerve Surgery on my left arm on December 8th, and was prescribed 20 Norcos for the pain. I was in agony and called the surgeon back the next day so he gave me some Lyrica for the nerve pain but that didn't help at all because it needs to build up in my blood, so I basically have had no pain relief. I told him it wasn't working so he switched me to Neurontin and it works the same as Lyrica, and takes time to build, and I am still waiting for it to start working. The pain from the nerve damage is unbearable but the Dr, just doesn't care. I slipped on some Ice and hit my elbow and he saw that it was bruised and swollen. He told me to keep taking the Nuerontin and startn taking Aleve and Advil with it. The Aleve and Advil are making my stomach hurt and no relief for the bruise and throbbing on my elbow. He told me No, he was not going to prescribe me adequate pain relief. I don't know why. There is never a reason but someone needs to help me. The ' Dr doesn't want me to go to the ER but he won't help his pt.REPORT COMMENTS
