We stuck it out because through becoming a pin cushion, being stuck in all kinds of machines and tubes, shot up with glowing dye and peeing 100s of urine tests, several colonoscopies, exploratory surgeries, 2 weeks in a Houston Medical Center Hospital undergoing a battery of test and therapies and then several years under the treatment of a neurologist who specialized in Chronic headaches we discovered there was no tumor, there was no medical, organic, psychological, emotional reason for them. I am simply an anomaly. So they would just have to treat the pain. We learned that sitting in a doctors office with a sick child usually meant my immune system would let in some bug and I would be sick for weeks. So what's the point of all this????? In that 20 years I have had two main doctors, I call them old school doctors, though they weren't old. THEY saw their patients. They KNEW their patients and I as a patient felt comfortable with them. Through those 20 years we decided to go as little narcotic as possible to relieve pain relief because living in 24/7 pain laying on a couch watching the world walk by you will soon MAKE you depressed and wonder what's the point of it all. You find you are like the boy in the bubble ...you can see the world but you are unable to be in it either because of the pain or because you are too zoned out. We wanted neither. I moved to Georgia, found an amazing doctor, had him for about 13 years. We carefully tried different combinations of antidepressants, seizure drugs, hydrocodone, migraine meds that affect seretonin along with occasional nausea meds for migraines out of control. We learned the best combinations, added sleep piece to make sure I a full rest cycle. We had finally gotten it almost right and my narcotic hydrocodone was the lowest strength available and my dosage was to break a pill in half and take 1/2 pill 3 times a day . That is 1 - 1 1/2 pill PER DAY FOLKS! To alleviate my pain on most days to have a somewhat livable life. Not like regular people but to cook sometimes, and have my grandkids over, to go to dinner and not have everyone ask if I need to go. I even started to go on trips and fly places!!! He then changed my anti seizure meds and the side effect made a lot of my hair fall out but with the hydrocodone my headaches and arthritis actually now gave me headache free days, something I had not known since I was a teen!!! I'm thrilled, my doctor is happy, I can live without hair!!! Oct 2014 - changes go in changing the hydrocodon to a different schedule. My pharmacist looks at me even weirder than usual with a computer printed script. I have to explain to my doctor it can't be done that way any more. So we manage. I stay level and more pain free than I have ever been. Husband gets transferred to Colorado. I think is it worth it to leave my doctor, yes when pain is that huge in your life and you have under control and a relationship with a doctor you know is really looking after you n

My very first sentence is this: You know there is something wrong when you are an elderly woman. You go to ER for migraine relief and are treated as an addict. It is so humiliating you swear you'll have to be dying before you back. The next time is when you fall and break a hip. The next time you have a bone crushing migraine for 6 days, you fall, think you break your foot, you wait two more days because you can't face the ER people. You finally swell so much you foot turns blue plus your volcano headache which you would just as soon bang against a concrete pole. So you have your husband drop you off, no sense in having him watch you being humiliated ... As you expect buy were praying wouldn't happen, after vitals the doctor comes in...looks at you. What is the problem? Actually I have two. A five day migraine that I wasn't go to come in for but then I took a fall and I think I broke my foot. She twists and turns your foot, squeezes it, never asks about pain. Says looks like a sprain. I timidly say well it's blue like it's cutting off circulation and three times normal size. Doctor says: oh yeah AND you have a MIGRAINE?????? Right? Well we don't give morphine here. But I guess I can order an X-ray but it will just cost the insurance company. Outcome:: I wait an hour for them to do X-ray, then wait hour for result, first embarrassed and crying, then just infuriated...I finally get up and start walking out. Suddenly everyone is concerned about me. Oh no you can't leave, The hell I can't...watch me. I've been humiliated, pretty much called a drug seeker, when all they had to do was call my doctor or look at my records to see I'm not. The only way I'm staying is if security handcuffs me to a bed. Well you can't leave without signing this refusal of treatment!! I'm steadily hobbling out of the ER laughing....TREATMENT???? What treatment!!! I'm standing by the road calling my husband to come get me when the nurse and doctor come running out of ER LOOKING FOR ME! Miss, miss you have to come back in! We have your X-rays back, they are not good. You need to come back in. So I'm hobbling down the road as I see my husband driving up and they are running after me but your foot is broken, your foot is broken!!!! We can fix and get some pain meds for you!! I opened my car door as they ran up and tried to talk to my husband. He just looked at them and said: I don't know the whole story but I know she has been crying in the dark for a week with a migraine saying she would die than go to ER, then when she thought she broke her foot I talked her into going. My guess is when she got here you morons treated her like a 60 year old crackhead totally missing her doctor is the head of your hospital, she has great insurance, none of the appearance or red flags of an addict but nonetheless you went after her as jonesing addict. That is on you, I couldn't get her back n that hospital if she was dying. The smart*****doctor yelled we have

I have been in pain for years, it's pretty clear that I'm not going to be getting better, but once again I face discrimination for partaking in a completely legal activity. I am going in next week to see him he, made me sign a contract in order to be treated and said that I will be urine tested and if I have The in my body I will be terminated,. This is just one of many abuses I have suffered from jerk doctors, who now are tired of being doctors and take it out on people in pain. It's really sick!

As an elderly and disabled person this behavior is disgraceful . Both doctor and pharmacist should be ashamed of themselves for treating people the way that they do for their chronic pain . Something has to be done about this .

Going through something very hard. In a skilled nursing facility at the age of 35. Yet my primary Dr. Still dicating no pain meds. How do you rehab without meds? It is the right of a Dr. To treat someone in pain . especially acute pain. This is demeaning. Harsh and a failed judgement of character.

I would like to say that this is the most ridiculous thing happening in America. I have never met anyone who enjoys being in pain. If I am hurting or sick enough to actually go to the doctor other than my regular visits than I am seriously seeking help. I have suffered with chronic pain for more than 9 years now and I do not enjoy taking any medications but I did not get a choice in this matter. My pancreas just decided to malfunction. (and it is not from alcohol, spicy foods maybe... idiopathic is diagnosis). If I am lucky enough to feel well I have better things to do than go to the ER and sit and wait half the day. I do realize that some people abuse medications however if you have a diagnosis with proof that you are ill it should not be left up "the government" to decide how you should be treated. Again with a diagnosis you will not be wasting your time seeking meds if you are feeling well. trust me on this, those good days are so wonderful.

My mother just died after entering the hospital in relatively decent health. Obamacare is an "obamanation". I want no family member sent to the hospital until it's fully repealed. I will stop them.

Imagine that your loved one is in debilitating pain. Now imagine that the medicines that make it possible to maintain a decent quality of life are taken away because pain sufferes are the newest victims of a political football. And we tend to hurt too much to be the loudest voices in the room. All it will take is the denial of pain relief for your loved one or yourself at a time of legitimate pain. Then, you will understand if you don't already. When you are doing the pain management therapy, when you listen to Dr. Jon Kabatt Zinn every night, go into debt for matresses, chairs, etc that give any kind of relief. When you have tried and continue to use other treatments (pt, acupuncture, tens, etc). And a major component of your treatment is taken away because others are abusing pills. Please save us from the current climate. We are suffering in the United States. Help us please.

"But for the grace of God, go I." We've all heard that saying! I want you to think of the last time you had a tooth-ache, and made an appointment to see your dentist. You tried many types of OTC meds for your pain, and you were so looking forward to going to the dentist, so he could address the problem and you'd feel better. Imagine you needed that tooth-pulled, so he gave you some Novacaine, or maybe something stronger to deal with the procedure. When it was all over, you were thankful that you could just put that experience behind you. BUT, what if you were in that kind of pain DAILY--either the "tooth-ache pain," or maybe even the "tooth extraction" pain, but did not have access to any meds to help you deal with the pain? I have a chronic debilitating (organ) pancreas disease, which is extremely painful & causes chronic nausea. I also suffer from a few back & neck injuries, degenerative disc disease, sugar diabetes, high bld pressure, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia, Fatigue, Acid Reflux, Bi-polar with PTSD, nerve damage down my whole left side of body from head to toe from just one of my back injuries & surgery on it. I've had nine different surgeries & continue to suffer with daily chronic pain. The controlled medicines I receive help to control my pain, so I can be a reasonably functioning human being. I've worked most of my life & I'm on disability now. I rarely leave my home due to all my medical problems & my debilitating daily pain. I do not understand why the government would want to possibly deny me the medicines I need to function? And I do feel hurt, upset, & devastated that our government can place so many restrictions on the prescribing of these meds, that it basically gets to determine how much pain I need to suffer? Where is MY freedom? Why can't my physician be free to devise a treatment plan for me (which includes a controlled med pain prescription)? Why can't I have the freedom to have my chronic pain alleviated--ESPECIALLY when adequate treatment exists? I do realize that there are people who abuse these meds, and/or sell them illegally. But I shouldn't have to pay the price for their poor actions/bad behavior. Lord, please help us!!

Had to sign, the descrimination must stop! Since a car accident at 13, I have constant chronic pain. I have endured every medical procedure including surgery just to be pushed out the door with prescriptions for pain meds and muscle relaxers. Now now over 36 years later I am looked at as a criminal by my Dr since I legally treat pain with mmj. Am told it will kill me if take the prescribed Vicodin with it. My primary care physician (new doc at facility followed my doctor to over 10 years ago after he closed his own practice after having gone there the previous 18 years) says I use street drugs, the federal government agrees with him, that mmj illegal. Regardless of state law he refuses to now prescribe me pain meds (or any other medication). He does not agree with the AZ Dept of Health or the ARS Statute        36-2813. Discrimination prohibited C. For the purposes of medical care, including organ transplants, a registered qualifying patient's authorized use of marijuana must be considered the equivalent of the use of any other medication under the direction of a physician and does not constitute the use of an illicit substance or otherwise disqualify a registered qualifying patient from medical care. AZ licenses the Dr but he will not provide medical care in direct violation of law written to prevent what he is doing. 2 months now, still no meds and no relief in sight from my Dr......Do no harm, indeed! Lawyers want retainer to fight this blatant case of descrimination while I get no relief unless choose to use pharmaceuticals only that kill people every 19 minutes (that we know of!). What good is the law if our rights are denied and the doctors are scared to treat us?! Do no harm....please! Doing nothing to help the patient is defiantly doing harm, physically mentally and emotionally.

I am a transplant patient. My pain is failing organ, without necessary meds to keep my pain tolerable, I'd be in ER constantly at the mercy of any relief they could give. I often am in so much pain that the little amount of relief medications give just are not enough. It's not my fault, not because I like taking them. I hate it actually. If my insurance would cover the transplant cost instead of me having to raise funds, then I doubt I'd ever be signing such a petition. It's not until you've been where I am, that you realize just how many people are suffering needlessly. Because the fears are epidemic, and the solutions are hurting those, which these drugs were designed to help. Look we can't just live without them. Not without a better option. Targeting Doctor's and Patient's with legitimate pain needs, and making them suffer, and finding fault, stigmatizing us..it's just not the answer. It's a kin to beating up the elderly. Please find a better way to fight this war on drugs. Go after the street dealer who's targeting your children, and let your doctor do what God created him for. One day you will need his saving grace. Please, please, please know that we who really have no other option hate what drugs does to our children just as much as you, but we do not get high, we feel pain despite the meds, the meds just help make it so we can take a bath, or get dressed, and sleep sometimes, that one is really important because right now I hardly ever have a pain free night sleep. Think of your elderly, who cannot speak, or tell you how much it stinks to not want to shower because the pain makes us so sensitive to cold, that we often must wait till mid-day when the air is more kinder. This is what it's like. It's humbling, It's humiliating, and demeaning to have to tell it to Congress! The worst thing is to have judgement upon my personal dignities because trust in America has now come down to this. While we ignore the hypocrisy of some of the very systems set in place to help protect our rights. Our right's are becoming less, and less. Without trust what is there? At what point do we toss trust to the water in exchange for captivity? When we are scrutinized for taking a pill to cope through the day for the fault of natural causes, in which, human organ's sometimes fail. Do we go along with a healthcare plan that say's no care for "sick-care". If they only knew that a covered transplant done sooner than later, could save me a life-time of needing pills to cope, and give me a chance for normal life. But when that is refused, and transplant clinics, and Doctor's are run out because health care reform thinks it know's better. It doesnt know, it doesnt even know that it,it'self is also human, subject to needing that clinic, that doctor, and perhaps that pill! It cant see past it's own political correct-ed-ness to see, that it traded common sense, for a mess of confusion. I speak to my own testament, and to being a witness of many other's who are also, t
