I personally saw a woman try to purchase dog food with food stamps. When she was told she could not, she bought ground beef instead. I have also witnessed people with food stamps pay for beer and tobacco with a $50 or $100 bill.REPORT COMMENTS

Drug testing should have been put in place a long time ago. There are so many people that are living off of Welfare that use their money for all the wrong things (including drugs). There are individuals that make Welfare and SSI a way of life. Alot of people that are currently on Welfare should not be. I had a full time job working 40 hours a week and individuals I knew were working under the table, having people live with them for money, and racking in the Welfare. Someone should be doing surprise visits so they can catch these individuals wasting money of hard workers.REPORT COMMENTS

As a taxpaying lawbiding citizen i would like to express my opinions on drug testing for welfare recipients, drug testing should be required to recieve any type of government bennefit! This is not to single them out since they are using the system, it is merely an attempt to get people to spend there money that is given to them on neccesseties not on extras, it is a well known fact that people who receive benefits are also working on the side at a "non-tax income" job to support there extra curricular habits. Therefore enacting drug testing as a requirement on all government programs would help lower the drug use in america or it would lower the payout to people who are misusing monies to supply habits.REPORT COMMENTS

I believe there should only be public assistance for a maximum of 2 years. At the same time they should have to take classes of some sort to learn a trade to be self sufficient. When using food stamps, they should not get cash back! Maybe they get a card of some sort that debits the money, problem solved, no cash back! That of course doesn't keep them from selling their cards or food stamps, but it's a start. And ABSOLUTLY drug testing!REPORT COMMENTS

I know for there are many people on welfare that trade food stamps for money to buy drugs Drug testing would stop this and these peoples children may actually get to eat. People testing positive should then be turned into CPSREPORT COMMENTS

I think it's an awful shame that there are low life's in our country that free load off the welfare system that use the money to buy drugs instead of caring for the kids they bring into this world. The welfare system needs to open their eyes and see that they're turning away many families that truly need the assistance.REPORT COMMENTS
