The people of the US need to unite against lifers in Congress and limit perks. We should also have Congress pay for their healthcare, which they can afford and most others cannot. This would be a way to have officials do what is correct for the country and not just serve self-interests. -

This truly disgusts me. Especially considering half the people, especially in congress, don't even do much of anything! Let elected officials make minimum wage and see what it is like to work your tail off and receive next to nothing in return. I bet minimum wage would go up quite quickly. Minimum wage workers get no pensions, no perks. They don't even get paid sick days or paid vacation days! They are expected to work non-stop for next to nothing for 40-50+ hours a week all day every day without a break for any reason. THIS HAS TO CHANGE!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Congress should not have pension plans greater than the average person. They should not be allowed to vote themselves monies out of the Treasury. The original Congress didn't receive any pay. If they work part time, as they have been for the past several years, and keep decreasing their days of work, they should be paid hourly wages, no benefits, (since part time workers do not get benefits), and no perks. We need to make this a 9:00 to 5:00 job, 50 weeks a yr., with 1 week vacation every 6 months. They should have to work just as hard as we the people, who pay their outrageous salaries.
