This is NOT RIGHT! Cutting these programs and Social Security to the disabled and the elderly is WRONG! I, as well as all these other people, have paid or someone they are related too has paid into Social Security as well as their employers. I have worked hard all my life and all the others who receive Social Security have too. People can't help it if they become disabled or are born that way. To reduce or take away these benefits is cruel and very heartless. I would like to see anyone in Congress and the Senate try to live on only Social Security. There are so many people who are homeless, who are going hungry and can't afford their medication, basic necessities and other things they truly need. Taxpayers didn't make the mess this country is in. Those in office did! Why should millions of people have to suffer because of others mistakes. The government seems to care more about helping other countries when they can't even take care of their own people. That is wrong. I'm not saying that I don't care about other countries but American's should come first. The rich need to pay their fair share of taxes and not be able to use all these loopholes. Stop putting the burden of taxation on the middle class. Stop wasting money on ridiculous experiments and projects that don't need to be studied. Also go after those that fraud and abuse the Government's money and resources. I know that life is not fair, but those who live high off the hog (the Government) need to stop. Congress and the Senate, PLEASE take your blinders off and see what is really the problem and what is going on! This is supposed to be a Democratic Society, but that right is being taken away more and more over the years. We are human beings the same as you, so please treat us like you want to be treated!

Should cut their pay and retirement, should not be a full time career. Should have to retire on Social Security like the rest of us. Then maybe the SS trust fund would get repayed

Every politician in Washington should have their pay halved or even quartered, they should not be able to vote for their own pay raises, and every cent should go to the debt they put the nation in! This country was not meant to have career politicians, they were meant to come out when called and then go back to their jobs!

Senate and congress do not need benefits and should be striped from them at the peoples will. Not allowing them to have access to change things as they have always done in past.

Our Congressmen and women should be participating in the same healthcare system that they have put in place for all Americans! NO more pension and NO more perks as a reward for an unbalanced budget !

Because elected officials lack empathy, this is an opportunity to teach them empathy. This is achieved by cutting their pay and benefits to the average pay rate in their state and same benefits as citizens - Medicare and SS. Voila - empathy for the people and concern for these programs.

Congress should live under all the laws they pass for everyone else. Shut down congress? But you get paid and your gym is staffed. Take care of the vets? No! Best medical care for congress? You bet!!!!

I'd love to see them just try and live off the minimum wage if it's as "easy" as they believe it to be.

Members of Congress are overpaid and get too many perks. This needs to end post haste. Also, the budgets for their offices should be re-examined as they seem excessive to me.
