Please we need this information. It is vital to know what is going on and the drivers behind it.

My students in social policy are heavily dependent on being able to access articles by political scientists to understand the policy issues they are writing about. Please do not cut this off.

The social science research funded by the NSF is an essential benchmark for industry in the United States. Cutting this funding will harm countless numbers of small businesses in the United States that rely on this large government data base as a reference point for our work. Please restore funding for the NSF and ACS.

I guess the House does not want anyone to study what they are doing. The level of funding for research is worthy of debate, but picking on one kind of research to censor sends a chilling message about Congress' attitudes towards freedom of thought.

In the last decade, research in Political Science has been making a transition towards empirical, quantitative projects, similar to other Social Sciences such as Psychology and Economics. Most of this research aims to understand the democratic process, and can only help any political party that participates in it. This kind of research, particularly data collection, also requires funding and support. So the changing nature of research in Political Science, away from dialectic and towards fact-based investigation, has increased the need for funding. I am a macroeconomist, and in the current global climate it would be self-destructive to reduce support to research in my field; yet, I can testify that research in Economics also greatly benefits from empirical research in Political Science.

This would be a true outrage if funding for this non-partisan research effort were cut. We can only improve America's democratic process if we understand it through research.
