Political Science education and research could not be more fundamental to our continued functioning as a republic. This funding helps to track, analyze and interpret the constantly shifting dynaimcs of the body politic. It reveals important trends in domestic and foreign policy that can not be gleaned from other sources of research and reporting. The results help not only academia but also policy makers better understand the nature, dimensions and magnitute of threats to our national security. If NSF funding of political science research is prohibited, I fear the reamining sources of funding for political science research will be entirely partisan, and any attempt at objectivity in research design and analysis will be futile. -

NSF Funding for social sciences keeps America strong in one of the major comparative advantages we have now - education. Ceasing it would be very short sighted.REPORT COMMENTS

The idea of eliminating funding for political science research is absurd. If you took ten seconds to see the amazing work done under NSF in Political Science you would realize the value. Research is a very difficult thing to fund, and it often requires government and public assistance to get it off the ground. The public good gained through this sort of research far outweighs the costs. I'm sorry if the policy "makers" are out of touch with this fact, but ignorance is no excuse for making bad policy.REPORT COMMENTS

Political scientists provide YOU with the research and data to make smart policy decisions for the nation. Keep NSF funding for this very important line of research, especially at a time when the country needs it most!REPORT COMMENTS
