This act comprises nothing less than a very direct act of ill will toward tomorrow's citizens. For civic education in the university depends on our political science departments as a last bastion. Our House has shown its lack of care for this grave matter.REPORT COMMENTS

Please don't cut the funding. There are people living for the advance of this field. This is too cruel; think of it as cutting someone's life suppliance, because it is.REPORT COMMENTS

I am currently getting my doctorate in political science. To think that political scientists don't make every effort to make sure their research is important and has real-world implications is undermining the years of work (and often lifetimes of work) that scientists put into their research.REPORT COMMENTS

The founding fathers certainly appreciated the importance of ideas and an understanding of the nature of government and governance and vigorously debated on exactly these topics. It is counter to good sense and U.S. tradition to cut off the funding that helps maintain the vigor of this process in modern America.REPORT COMMENTS

Our understanding of human psychology and social dynamics, coupled with advances in statistics and computer modeling, mean that political science can be a rigorous scientific discipline. Understanding the behavior of individuals and populations as they relate to politically relevant decisions is vitally important, and should absolutely receive continued support from the NSF.REPORT COMMENTS
