Plain and simple. It's just not fair. If everyone had to pay it back, that's ok. But they changed it very shortly after for future home buyers. They did not have to pay it back. Not only that, but they got 500$ more dollars. This is one reason I'm voting for Donald Trump. Even though I voted for Obama twice.REPORT COMMENTS

Please forgive the tax credit loan for ones who purchased housing in 2008 and allow the stipulations to be close to the same as for the ones who purchased in 2009. All that money could be going into the economy for growth, as the persons who purchased in 2009 are free to do. To include the text of the request again: If you were a first time homebuyer and bought a house between April 2008 and December 31, 2008, you were entitled to receive a $7,500 tax credit that MUST BE REPAID over a period of 15 years. If you were a first time homebuyer bought a house on January 1, 2009 through Dec. 31, 2009 you were eligible for an $8,000 tax credit that DOES NOT HAVE TO BE REPAID.REPORT COMMENTS

This needs to be removed since the next one was free and they seem to have given so many breaks since this was put into place.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been repaying my $500 for several years now. When I try to utilize the First Time Homebuyer Credit Account Look-up, to much surprise, the IRS cannot find anything. If I am responsible for paying this money back, the IRS should be responsible for reporting what has been paid and what additionally is owed. I implore anyone willing to listen to fix this tax credit so that it does not have to be repaid and to refund those of us who have been paying into it for years now.REPORT COMMENTS

I have transitioned this property to my second home and not primary home and now in 2015 I have to pay all the remaining at once? Which is 5000 dollars. Everyone else from 2009-2011 can just keep it and not repay and we have to repay. please help.REPORT COMMENTS

Dear Congress, Please forgive the tax credit loan for ones who purchased housing in 2008 and allow the stipulations to be close to the same as for the ones who purchased in 2009. Option: Payment on the loan can be forgiven due to living in your home for over five years and repayment has been made during that time. Also, a refund will be made for ones who lived in their homes over the five years. We do appreciate your consideration for the forgiveness of the tax credit loan.REPORT COMMENTS

This is ridiculously confusing and seems very unfair that we just happened to want to buy a house during the 9-month period in history where the credit must be paid back. We lived in our house for 7 years and now owe $5500 immediately. At least let us keep paying $500 per year until's paid off.REPORT COMMENTS

Those of us who purchased homes in 2008 should be granted the same forgiveness as those who purchased in 2009. It only makes sense, right?REPORT COMMENTS

My house close 12/23/2008. If it would have close 9 days later I would not have to repay. I recently sold my house, yes for a gain, but since I was out of work for a year that money was used to pay off debt and try to stay afloat. Now I am filing my 2015 taxes and I have to pay the IRS $5000 right now. I don't have that kind of money. The extra $500 per year was hard enough. I wish this credit would have been explained more thoroughly. I was just out of debt now instantly I am back in debt.REPORT COMMENTS
