I was on this drug for 11 years and now my doctors refuse to treat my widespread pain and joint pain. they told me to seek psychiatric help instead, despite my long history of migraines and joint pain starting, in my opinion, when I was 5, I started feeling the joint pain so bad I had to stop writing or coloring. I'm 26 now, and an artist with crippling pain. I was on this drug 4 times longer than the rest of my peers who were prescribed lupron. -

My daughter took 3 Lupron shots when she was the age of 7 for treatment of Precocpuberity, she had to discontinue them because of the horrible side effects. She is now 15 and is still feeling the brunt of these shots.REPORT COMMENTS

Lupron is poison with long lasting life altering side effects!! I received Lupron injections every three months, for 3 yrs straight for endometriosis, before having a hysterectomy in 2006!! In the 10 years since I stopped Lupron, I am still suffering daily from side effects!! I suffer daily from Fibromyalgia, Costochondritis,Chronic Muscle & Joint Pain, GERD, Chronic Esophagitis, Degenerative Disc Disease, Severe Daily Chronic Upper Back & Neck Pain, Chronic Debilitaing Muscle Weakness & Spasms, Chronic Hematuira, Interstitial cystitis, Migraines, Blurry Vision that comes and goes just to name a few.... Fraudulently included in fraudulent clinical research (1989-1990) by Dr. Shayne Plosker with no medical follow-up whatsoever subsequent to receiving six month supply of daily injections and hitting the road with them. Since the efficacy of this drug and its 1992 Notice of Compliance is based on fraudulent studies conducted by at least two physicians (...Dr. Friedman confessed, years ago, Dr. Plosker has yet to be tried...); Lupron should not be prescribed to women at all, which I only yesterday ascertained to be the case. Appalled and shocked that Lupron is still prescribed to women. I took Lupron almost 2 years ago recommended by a obgyn who had no clue what he was doing to my body when describing this because of being uneducated with endometriosis! I still have side effects to this day from this horrible drug. I did two shots of it which consisted of 6 months 3 months a shot. Took a pill I forgot the name to help correlate with side effects I was told and they won't be bad or have any at all but little did I know that was all a lie! I have hot flashes, dark facial hair growing and on my chest. Hot flashes, night sweats chills not to start on all the joint problems I have had since as well and so much more! People need to know this drug is not helpful it is more hurtful than Anthing!!!! Lupron is the devil drug!REPORT COMMENTS

Lupron for six months had hot flashes, facial hair growth, knee surgery for a degenerative tear and early osteoarthritis. Have not been on Lupron since 2007 and still struggle with side effects including joint pain. I do not understand why they prescribe a drug that is used for prostate cancer and precocious pubery syndrome in children....it just does not add up...its poison.REPORT COMMENTS

I had 2 shots to treat endometriosis. The first shot caused major personality changes. I was like a 12 yr old with money and car keys. I was teaching my children to do bad things to get back at kids in the neighborhood that were bothering them. An example would be to hide behind a car and stick a stick in the spokes of their front bike tire in order to flip them off the bike, possibly hurting someone severely. My husband put my 12 year old in charge of watching me and making sure I didn't do bad things. 2nd shot caused short term memory loss and aphasia. I still suffer from these side effects 16 yrs later.I get lost in my city that we have lived in since the shot. I have to have someone with me in case I get lost but in areas I was familiar with before the shot, I can navigate and remember. My short term memory loss has disabled me. Aphasia, I have trouble finishing sentences. Can't name objects but can describe it's function. I will post a list of the type of aphasia I have..... Aphasia symptoms can vary based on the location of damage in the brain. Signs and symptoms may or may not be present in individuals with aphasia and may vary in severity and level of disruption to communication.Often those with aphasia will try to hide their inability to name objects by using words like thing. I was given Lupron at 22 year old in 1996 for endometriosis.The drug side effects were unbearable.Massive weight gain,migraines,nausea,sweats,dizziness,debilitating fatigue. I was in a nightmare and I was a new bride only married 2 years.I then had 2 laproscopic surgeries one in atlanta.ga at Dunwoody Medical Center with Dr R.Albee. I have been having unexplained severe joint and muscle pain,twitching,headaches, large thyroid nodules affecting swallowing and symptoms of autoimmune disorders for the last 4 years . I am not testing positive for any specific disease. I have elevated CRP levels which indicate swelling in the body as well as elevated ck-mm levels with no cause in sight. I have numerous appointments upcoming with rheumatology,endocrinology and gynecology hoping for an answers. I am going to be pushing this Lupron conversation. I feel like the stories I read on this petition are my story. My daily level of pain is at times intolerable and my quality of life has been severely affected. I have been assuming my problems were all endometriosis...it never occured to me since no doctor warned me about the long term effects of all these drugs I was on.I was very young and trusted these doctors. I have also been on Provera, and countless hormone therapies. Someone needs to listen to us. As we speak women are still be prescribed Lupron. STOP!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Previous to taking Lupron I was active, healthy, ambitious. One of those people who work 60 hour weeks in high stress jobs then go hiking, biking, or visiting art galleries during my time off. I had a very full life. I thrived on 4-6 hours sleep a day. In 2004 I was commuting 9 hours/week to complete my Master?s degree in Social Work in another city, working 12 hours/week at an internship, managing 15 acres and a household with 5 animals and a husband. In 2004 I also experienced my second ectopic pregnancy and requested a round of Lupron to avoid a third ectopic pregnancy while my body recovered and I completed my studies. I experienced the hot flashes many posts in here discuss, but I also quickly noticed a dramatic drop in my energy levels and ability to think clearly. Lab tests were performed, I was negative for anemia, my blood sugar and my thyroid levels were normal. My doctors couldn?t explain my symptoms but encouraged me to get as much rest as I could. I cut back my hours at my internship and let much of the household maintenance slide. I found it difficult to commute to school, and often left the university after one class for fear I wouldn?t be able to safely commute home. I began having trouble in my social interactions; becoming impatient, intolerant, and easily disgusted with conversations and people. It took 6 months instead of 3 months for me to get relief from the hot flashes, but the other symptoms haven?t abated 12 years later. My ability to work has steadily decreased over these 12 years due to persistent, intractable fatigue and an inability to constructively interact with people. I left my internship in August 2004 and took a part-time job teaching. In 2006 I left that job and tried to focus on marital issues, culminating in my filing for divorce in 2007. During the divorce proceedings I discovered I?ve developed an Anxiety Disorder that can cause extreme Panic Attacks that terrify anyone who witnesses them, so perhaps you can imagine what they feel like from my perspective? Over the past twelve years I?ve been diagnosed with Osteopenia, Hashimoto?s Disease, and Adrenal Fatigue. My thyroid, adrenal and blood sugar levels still test within the normal range, but I have to take adrenal, thyroid and pituitary supplements just to manage basic life functions. If I neglect taking my supplements I become irrationally emotional, cannot maintain or communicate a coherent thought and my problem-solving skills disappear. I often sleep 12-14 hours/day despite my supplements and moderate caffeine consumption. Sleep studies show no abnormalities. These issues often make it impossible for me to fulfill business obligations. I?ve narrowed my life enough that I have very few social obligations. Last year I was able to hold down a job in resale working three 4 hour days/week as long as I took a nap before work.
