I am a NCM and I don't agree with the comments on this petition. I belong to a NCM group (there a 3 million NCMoms in the United States alone) and they go through the same things that you do and NO, before you start commenting that they must have been terrible mothers for their children to be taken away let me assure you: that is NOT the case. A lot of these women worked while their husbands stayed home and they were seen as unfit because they couldn't be home to take care of the child. Others had the children taken because the father was rich. So, instead of being devisive about this issue I think that it would be in our best interests to come together with one common goal: to overhaul the antiquated and unjust child support system. These are different times and we need new laws to go along with that. Why is our child support not subtracted from our income, but is taxed as such? Why don't I get a break during tax time while my ex gets to claim my child? Why are student loans not taken into consideration when calculating child support? I have to pay both of them and neither is a forgivable expense. We need to come together to work on changing things because making assumptions across the board no longer serves our purpose.Apr 25th, 2013Someone from Danvers, MA signed.

My situation. Let me make clear that I don't support "Dead Beat Dad's". I believe it is mainly the father's responsibility to support their children, but I don't agree that if the mother has moved on and makes a combined income that is sufficient to care for the child that child support should be paid, when clearly the only reason why it would be continued is to hurt the father financially. My ex and her husband now bring in well over $90k/yr. I only bring in half about half of that. And here they are with a new house, 3 new vehicles, and frequently going on vacations. When I on the other hand is struggling to make ends meet, and can't even buy my kids new cloths but hand-me-downs. I wish there were things in place that support and fight for good father's. Child support should only be for those that have primary custody and aren't making enough to support the child, then I would agree.REPORT COMMENTS

If the mother doesnt want to let you see them she doesnt an thats it, She can take them anywhere without permeation,(not out of the country) i try taking them to Disney and she told me no, so i had to go to court and explain why i wanted to take them, That really sucks the you can't even enjoy your kids on a vacation.REPORT COMMENTS

All my X wifes family r on welfare and there proud of it ! I know you all in washington can get my Email. I have an audit that is from the county that shows ive paid 97,000 Yes ive over paid n took it to court n the lawyer quit?????? Wow a year later!she quit.come on you all made these laws n they are destroying us!! We are treated as trash when we try to call the wefare n report that we are no longer working we are treated as trash when we try to get info on our children , me n my son were so close , we went everyware together i always brought him a candy when i came home from work n his smile , so pure him n daddy ! Injured spouce on the tax return : welfare takes my part my wife gets her part. She has her own job n a child before i met her. Fresno took all the income tax except 2.00$ Yah the irs sent her a check for two dollars. So now what ? The welfare owns her too ? Well the only way to protect my own family , is to divorce my wife, We have 2 girls there small and she has a son teenager , your system Is destoying the moral of this USA. Go ahead n laugh , you all made the system , n a dam good money maker. Hey sons in fresno. If youre reading this , now you both know why i could never afford ANYTHING! YOU GO FRESNO. Get your 2.00$ for every dollar collected. So according to this audit you all got me for about 197,000$ since 1995 till now n with the 2.00$ from the federal government added to every dollor you collect that would be about 3 quorters of a million dollars. I was paying $1250 for 3 kids and $82 every week for health insurance while their mother sit at home unemployed collecting and spending the child support money on her boyfriend and wouldn't let me even see my kids for almost a whole year. She moved and didn't inform anybody until we had to go to for a modification because she claimed I hadn't paid her child support since our divorce which was originally $543 for the same 3 kids. She claimed I owed her $30,000 and Alabama DHR put it on my credit without verifying whether or not she was telling the truth. i took her to court without a lawyer a beat the case because I had bank statements showing where she was getting her child support and I have yet to receive the money I overpaid from the state. We currently have joint custody of the two younger kids and I"m paying $946...still too much. If we have joint custody, why do I still have to pay for the same kids who are with me every other week. The law need to be where the women are made to work part time or enroll in a program where they can become employed with a certificate or degree because I am struggling to take care of my current family with the majority of my check going to child support because the state is too lazy to take time to consider the men way of living as well and realize that the women are abusing the system.REPORT COMMENTS

My husband had a brief marriage right out of college that resulted in a child. The child is now 17 and the mother of the child has not worked in 18 years. My husband's child support is extremely high as it is based on only his wages as the biological mother does not have a work history. The mother frequently informs us that she is entitled to more and her unemployment is not our business. I work two jobs and am wondering why there is not a requirement for the biological mom to contribute financially as well? We understand she is unskilled and is not able to make a high salary. However, her contribution of $0 for the past 17 years is most unfair. She is remarried and we can't consider her new husband's income in the child support calculations. Also, we do not have the right to see how the money we send is spent. There is no required accountability. We don't have the right to see a receipt or a budget. We've been told it's not our business and the law seems to support this. It's too late for me to benefit in a law change but I'd like to see others benefit. I understand that most divorced moms don't take advantage of the system and do financially contribute to the best of their ability. But, something needs to be done about the women that do take advantage. I feel it is impeding on my rights, my husband's rights, our subsequent children's financial rights and the rights of my step child to have a good example set in her home.REPORT COMMENTS

I am not understanding how it is fair for these women who open their legs to get childsupport from several different men and the men had no choice in the matter. Then their forced to pay unfair amounts and ultimitaly end up getting paid under the table, falling behind on their childsupport and taxes which in the end is helping no one. I agree that the dad needs to pay for kids he has helped raise, but what about here in Texas where they go after the sperm donors, men, who never even had a relationship with these women and werent even aware of the pregnancy. Where are his rights to decide if he wants a kid. Especially when the women gets pregnant only for support from various men living the high life. Im also wondering about the corruption and way they treat men in the childsupport process misleading them, failing to tell them their rights, giving them the run around and doing absolutly nothing to help the man get a fair hearing.REPORT COMMENTS

When you collect child support you should have to show some sort of proof as to where that income is going for the child and any unused income should be put into an account for the child or refunded back to the payer. Also, If a mother doesn't want the father to be in the child's life and raise the child on her own then she should not be allowed to collect child support for the child. I understand that it takes two incomes to raise a child but if that is what she chooses to do then she should receive no assistance from the father.REPORT COMMENTS

The father is always on the brunt of the support - the mother is usually the custodial, as in this case. She has free law assistance to get the support started, but what happens when the child is 19 and has moved out of the home, didn't graduate high school and is working. Who helps the father stop the mother from collecting the money that she is not giving to the child. There is no free legal help and the father's rights take a back seat. It is also unfair to me that any parent has to support their child just because they are divorced, up to the age of 24, they should have the freedom of choice in this matter as your traditional married couples do. Parents normally expect their child to go out and support themselves once out of school. It should take in consideration what the living income is of the one paying the support. Once the child is of voting age, support should be stopped and if the parent wants to assist their child, they will. It also should not be right that when a paying parent has lost their employment and both parents live in another state than where the case originated that the paying parent takes it to court to have his payments reduced until he can gain employment again, pays the fee only to have the state throw it out because they say neither one lives there. I thought I read that you have to go back to the state where it was originally filed to make any changes. The state of New York kept the money and never reduced his payment. He was unemployed for 5 years with no income due to heath issues and the downturn of the economy. He would not be in arrears $36,000 vs $1500 at the least amount per month. The mom had to actually go out and get a job for once in fifteen years instead of sitting home drawing easy money. We can't even travel out of the country if we would like for our employment due to his arrears. Let's create some bills and laws to assist the father's.REPORT COMMENTS
