This is unfair to the people who have never once abused their medication.

This tax is wrong, people who truly have chronic pain do OD or sell their medication. I've worked in several ER's across the country and it's the illegal drug users that give the honest people with chronic pain a bad reputation.

This law is discriminatory and unfair! 95% of chronic pain patients NEVER abuse their medication! But they are the ones who would be forced to pay for rehab for the 5% who may abuse their prescribed medication, plus the huge number of street drug abusers! Chronic pain patients don't take these medications for "fun" or to get high. They just want to be able to get out of bed and live a somewhat functional life.

Taxing pain relieving medications is evil. People suffering in pain should not have to pay the bill for those who misuse the medications. This is possibly the most ignorant bill ever proposed. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesotans will remember your support of this! Voting you out of office!

Why should I a cancer survivor who developed chronic pain as result of the cancer be taxed to pay for addiction treatment. I am not an addict I take my medications responsibly and now have to pay for medical care for someone who likely abused the drugs. What a crock! All the WV legislators better rethink this plan because they will lose political support from cancer patients, survivors and their families in WV. Maybe the addicts should be required to do something not just the unfortunate souls who NEED opiates for real pain.

Without opioid pain meds I wouldn't be able to walk. It is unfair to lump me into the addiction category. As far as i know, there is no medical fix for a deteriorating spine. Without pain meds I lose my mobility and ability to lead a "normal" life style. Thank you.

We are being penalized for others just because we are disabled! And we have to take opiates to maintain somewhat of a life out of bed, to dress ourselves, feed ourselves and take care of our families the best we can. No I am not depressed due to being on opiates and I do not abuse my medications. So why am I being punished.

This is DISCRIMINATION! This should be ILLEGAL! I urge all Chronic Pain Patients to sign this petition and to send emails, FB replies, comments, and private messages, tweets on Twitter, and phone calls to the Senators behind this odious and discriminatory piece of legislation telling them that The United Chronic Pain Patients of America Will NOT Stand for this!

Chronic Pain Warriors , I've read several posts asking if cancer pts are part of this pathetic tax. Please note the following is EXEMPT FROM THIS TAX: CANCER PTS, HOSPICE PTS, AND JUST TO MAKE SURE AN ADDICT DOESN'T PAY A CENT OF TAX, SUBOXONE, AN OPIOD USED TO TREAT WITHDRAWAL, IS EXEMPT! These corrupt lawmakers want the CP community to pay for a drug addict to get help. How ridiculous does that even sound!? You penpushers have beaten down hard on the CP community, DENYING LIFESAVING MEDICATIONS TO THE CHRONICALLY ILL, SHAME ON YOU! HOW DO YOU PEOPLE EVEN LOOK IN THE MIRROR EVERY DAY AND ARE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE!? YOU ARE ALL MURDERERS, AND HAVE THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS ON YOUR HANDS FROM LEGITIMATE PAIN PTS WHO COMMITTED SUICIDE. YOU ALL STAND UP AT THAT PODIUM WITH SMUG SMILES ON YOUR FACES WHILE PROPOSING THIS VERY DISCRIMINATORY TAX, LET'S BE FAIR HERE, TAX A PERSONS HEART MEDICATION TO PAY FOR AN ALCOHOLICS REHAB, OR HOW ABOUT TAXING A PERSONS LUNG MEDICATION AND PAYING FOR A SMOKER TO GET HELP. I doubt that would sit well with those with heart and lung disease, making them pay for another persons treatment who CHOOSES TO DESTROY THIER BODY! This government continues to craddle the addict, giving them clean needles to shoot up with, safe places to go to shoot their******up with, opening all kinds of doors for them to get treatment, let em screw up over and over and they wont be turned away, and let's make the legitimate pain pts who depend on opiods to keep them alive, pay for the junkies and criminals treatment. HOW ABSURD IS THAT!!!!!!!

I am a 65 year old woman with a chronic illness. I was diagnosed at age 57. I am not an addict. I need pain meds to carry on with my life. Taxing my paid meds is totally unacceptable. What are you politicians thinking? Utterly rediculous!
