To California State Legislature California State House California State Senate California Governor We are signing this petition to make you aware of the effect that your new proposed gun laws will have on law-abiding citizens. These new laws will punish responsible gun owners and do nothing to combat gun crime. Requiring gun owners to obtain liability insurance, go through background checks when buying ammunition, take training courses every year to simply keep our firearms do nothing but infringe on our second amendment rights. It also does nothing to combat criminals that will obviously not follow these rules. These new laws do one thing other than infringe on our rights, they allow criminals to realize that this is a state filled with people that cannot defend themselves. Innocent citizens will be vulnerable to criminals that can easily obtain weapons without having to go through the process that law-abiding citizens take. Law-abiding citizens do not commit gun crimes, so why punish us? Instead of punishing responsible gun owners for having something that is our right, something that as American citizens we are entitled to have, you should focus your attention on combating the people who actually commit gun crimes. We are tired of being treated like criminals by the state legislature, when we have been following the rules and guidelines that gun owners are supposed to follow. These new laws go too far, and we will not allow you to follow through with these unconstitutional actions. OKREPORT COMMENTS

Please don't add any more gun laws! Gun laws only effect the law abiding gun owners. Please allow 2nd amendment as CCW. Gang members and non law abiding people don't follow any of CA gun laws. Police take to long to get to an active shooter area, when a CCW person can already be there and can stop any one or more people from being shot or killed. Look at TX,CO,ID, WA, and other states gun laws and that don't have the high numbers of crimes with guns like CA does. states with the toughest gun laws has the highest crime rate with guns.REPORT COMMENTS

Governor Brown, I am not a big fan of you, but I do know that to get to your position you have to have some brain cells rubbing together up there. You must realize that if you pass these bills many law abiding, tax paying citizens will leave California for another state that doesn't hate its law abiding citizens. So even stricter gun/ammo laws simply give the bad guys a greater advantage. Criminals/burglars/terrorists can simply drive guns in from other states! Prisons release more & more criminals. Crime in my neighborhood is WAY UP! (and I live in a VERY GOOD neighborhood). Ask any police officer about the increase in crime in CA. The #1 thing a criminal fears most is an armed home owner! Not a armed home owner who is fiddling to load his gun. What would happen if terrorists struck in CA again and ran into citizens with concealed carry permits? To this day, I still haven't heard the argument at how these new gun control initiatives will stop criminals. Why are the law abiding citizens constantly being punished for things that criminals are doing? Criminals aren't going to try and do a background check. Criminals aren't going to stamp a serial number on their gun. Criminals aren't going to use their real name and register ammunition. They evade the law. That's what criminals do. Why do the legislators not even closely seek common sense when proposing these bills!? It's sickening that our tax dollars go to support these ridicules salaries of these individuals that have zero common sense? Over an over again we see these bills go through the senate that don't help to solve a problem, but in turn create more restrictions on the citizens that follow the law. More and more it seems that the government is trying to make itself against the very people that it was sworn to protect. You aren't protecting us with these bills. You aren't solving the problems with gun violence with these bills. Please start using reason when creating these bills. Please use common sense when these bills are being presented to you. Any normal functioning person knows that a criminal is already avoiding current gun laws and will continue to avoid them. Any normal functioning person knows that any new legislation on gun won't deter a criminal from going around the law. It's time we wake up and tackle the problem at the root. No pass senseless ballot measures that are meaningless to criminals. It's time we start prosecuting criminals much more harshly and send a message to the criminal itself. All these bills are doing is sending a message to the law abiding citizen saying you don't care about us.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a big supporter of Governor Brown, but I am not in agreement with any more gun control laws in California. I am actually more in favor of reversing many of the controls in place. You are always going to have idiots that go on a rampage or some other lone wolf attack and all the controls in the world won't prevent it. It will stop law abiding citizens from defending themselves and families if the choose to do so.
