I have been in the military for 36 years, 7 in the United States Marine Corps and 28 in the Utah Army National Guard. I have deployed twice, once to Kuwait and then to Afghanistan. Both times we were more productive than any other Active Duty Unit and flew more hours with less accidents. We have saved Millions of dollars just in our performance over the Active Duty. Also what would the pilots, mechanics and other personnel that hold Apache specific MOSs be able to do if they wanted to stay in the Military, come to the National Guard and not reclass. You would say millions of dollars in training alone. Keeping the Apache's in the National Guard is a win win situation for the Nation and the people that would lose their jobs if the Apaches were taken away.

A States Army National Guard should be a cross section of the US Army, containing all vital MOS's. This move weakens the State and the Nation. In times of frugality, DOD should increase the Guard while shrinking the Active Componant.
