This tan tax will force me out of business and in turn my employees will be losing their jobs...Funny how the government says tanning salons are bad, but yet they are going to make money by taxing us! This is a step in the WRONG direction!

We are a small salon that has been hit by the recession and another hit like this from Congress will sink us. We will probably have to close the business if this crazy bill passes because we cannot handle the extra cost and our customers can't either. Stop wasting Taxpayer money and raising everyone's taxes!!! Its time we let the economy heal itself. You are going to destroy the small business person eventually!!!

This is a clear case of descrimination against white middle class women. They are the largest portion of our customers and own more then 67% of all tanning salons. This tax on top of the recent 7% tax on tanning in New Jersey plus the new $300 annual fee and local health department fees will kill the industry! Unemployment will rise, businesses will close and the government will never realize the 270 million per year they think they will get. Our salons are not all UV Tanning. We do UV FREE, teeth whitening, lotions and other services that are not under this tax. The numbers are way off. Not only will we have to close down and unemploy more people but our advertising and purchasing will go down forcing more people to be unemployed. We need to stop this now.

I've owned my salon for less than a year and I'm truly blindsided by how any of our elected officials can believe such a large tax is acceptable on thousands of small businesses. I also wonder how the U.S. Government feels it acceptable to tax indoor tanning to help fund their Healthcare Agenda when the U.S. Government will not allow salons to market their services as having any sort of health related benefit. My husband and I have gone to great lengths in order to become small business owners and this tax would be a huge step in the wrong direction for anyone trying to make their salon a success. Please remember who voted you in to your respective office when it comes time for you to vote on this issue.

Our tanning sales have already been cut in half due to the bad economy. Tanning is not the right industry to look for extra money for the government.

Why harm small businesses, when there is no scientific proof of the harm. If you are taxing UV exposure then add the tax to Beach Clubs, Pools, Country Clubs etc. The harm from outdoor sun exposure is the major cause of sun damage.

As a female salon owner, I am appalled at the possible slap in the face from Congress. I love my employees and customers but how do you explain this to your family after you close your doors. We need your help as a small business, Congress, not new taxes to shut down more businesses!
