These men gave up time from their lives for our country we need to continue to allow the flight school training for them to pursue careers in flight after their service to our country is complete.

Wow. The GI Bill was how I planned on paying for Flight School. Why does it seem like the people who risk our lives (police and military) are hindered and short changed when people who do not work or wish to work get government assistance so easy for nothing?

The G.I. Bill offers employment opportunity for veterans who are willing to diligently apply themselves, as my son who served 5 years in the US Marine Corps has done in order to become flight certified. Becoming a pilot is the dream of many young men and women. Certainly those who have served in the military should have the opportunity to pursue this worthy career. Vote 'NO' on HR 476 !

This HR needs to be stopped now. A cap of $20,000 will cripple most veterans efforts to achieve pilot certificates. The issue this is supposed to address the high costs some schools have charged for pilot training that is well above the national average for pilot training simply because the VA did not do their due diligence when auditing the approved schools for the minimum 15% civilian student requirement to ensure the schools did not gouge the prices to take advantage of the VA. I will be retiring with 20 years of active federal service in November and was looking forward to using my GI bill for pilot training. Becoming a pilot has been a lifelong dream for me and, if this HR is passed, it looks like that opportunity is closed to me for good. Having benefits such as the GI bill are great but if they cannot be used to better the veteran and create qualified personnel for a highly in demand field then the program is effectively useless. Kill this HR now.

Considering the rising costs of flight training, the current pilot shortage, the low pay experienced by new pilots, this seems like something that will set our country back overall. The Gi Bill aviation programs stood as a means to advance this industry in our country. I do not understand why anyone would want to cripple this program.
